Summary: A Cult Classic/Fantasy Favorite
Review: I hadn't even heard of Labyrinth until a friend of mine got the soundtrack; everyone that found out I'd never seen it promptly insisted that I had to, and soon. Since then, it's become one of my favorite movies! I think we can all somehow relate to Sarah, who just wants to be left alone to live in her fantasy world without parents and annoying siblings. Everyone she meets in the Labyrinth is so fun (partly because they are muppets), from the worm on the wall to the old man with the bird on his hat. Jim Henson and George Lucas really did work their magic to its fullest on this film, creating an alluring fantasy world that can really draw you in. Brian Froud's concepts/designs are awesome (as is everything he does), and really work well for the movie. Pay attention to EVERYTHING; especially get a good look at Sarah's room in the beginning. Along the way, you'll then start to notice the attention to detail that they paid when making Labyrinth. If you are the intellectual type, you'll delight in discovering how psychological the whole thing is. And alright, no Labyrinth review is complete without a comment on David Bowie. Once again, I'd never seen him or known his music before, but I think anyone would agree that he was THE perfect choice for the Goblin King. His acting is pretty impressive (and trust me, I'm picky); at times he can be very subtle (especially at the end) but very expressive at the same time. And his whole persona (from rock star sex appeal to beautifully soothing speaking voice) works very well for the role. To conclude, Labyrinth is a gem that will always be held up amongst the most classic of fantasy flicks, not only because of the entertainment factor, but also because of the craftsmanship.

Summary: Fine Henson Movie
Review: The puppets are very realistic and you can see them as real characters and identify with them in a way. This movie is great for anyone, young or old. This is a story of a girl who learns that she must start taking on responsibilities and grow up. She is annoyed with her little brother one night and wishes that the goblins take him away. So they do. And then she realizes that that wasn't such a good thing to do and then she must go and get him. She must travel to the goblin city where the goblin king Jareth (David Bowie!) has the baby and will turn him into a goblin if Sarah doesn't get to the castle in the center of the Labyrinth within 13 hours. She meets many different characters and must befriend them to get to the center. Some have different motives however and Sarah must be careful. David Bowie is fantastic, he is why I originally saw this movie. Bowiefan or not, if you like Jim Henson movies, fantasy movies, sci-fi stuff, you'll enjoy all that this movie has to offer.

Summary: Through dangers untold...
Review: It's hard to believe that when Labyrinth was released in June of '86 it didn't do well. People weren't impressed. Some people say that things get better with age. Maybe this is also true with films.

Labyrinth is the ultimate fantasy adventure story. Sarah, the heroine, has to find her way through the magical labyrinth to get her baby brother back from the evil Goblin King. Along the way she makes friends and enemies as she fights temptation and reminds us what is truly important.

The release of this DVD was a long-time coming. It was worth the wait. Presented in wide-screen, that means we can see all of the goblins in hidden in the drawers and not just the one speaking, and Dolby Surround. The picture quality is good and the hauting soundtrack has been captured excellently.

Also included on the disc is the original cinema trailer and the original production featurette "Inside the Labyrinth". Probably as valuable, if not more, as the film itself. It's a facinating glimpse into the making of a masterpiece. Including interviews from the cast and crew and, more importantly, the Muppet master himself, Jim Henson.

This movie is probably more popular now than it has ever been and for good reason. And for just over ... bucks it's a movie must for anyone who is young or just young at heart.

Summary: BREATH TAKING!!!
Review: When I first saw it when I was 4 or 5 I had to watch it over and over. Of course then I didn't get the story plot, I just loved the guys that can throw there heads. When I was 7 I remember wanted to be just like Sarah. Now that im older and I know the plot I am truly in love with this movie. I love the muppets, the sets and the maze! I dunno why but I think it would be fun to be able to go through a maze like that. Everytime I watch it I feel like im in another world. I do not own this movie yet because it is imposible to find but I think I will ask my mom to get it for me off of here. I rent it a lot and my dad gets annoyed because its allways the same movie that I rent. GO WATCH IT NOW!!!!!!!

Summary: Classic
Review: Don't tell me you haven't seen it! Everyone must see this movie at least once.

It's hard for me to be objective about this movie. I grew up with it and I've loved it since I was little. Now that I'm older I get more out of it and I have to say, it's one of my favorite movies of all time. It's charming in a fairy tale sort of way, but it also has a lot of good underlying themes like friendship, and infatuation. The main character, Sarah, starts out as a selfish young girl, but through the movie she matures.

The goblin king, Jareth, (David Bowie) is infatuated with Sarah the young girl. In a moment of frustration she wishes that he little brother would be take away forever and he disapears. then Jareth shows up and tries to woo her. Sarah asks for her brother back, and Jareth is infuriated. He tells her that if she wants to see her brother again, she has to find her way through the Labryrinth to his castle. Of course it's not as simple as all that, because he tries to trick her every step of the way, and he still hasn't given up his infatuation. Sarah has to outsmart him, and get to the castle before the time runs out, otherwise her baby brother will be turned into a goblin and she will lose him forever.

The music in this movie is great. As you might imagine, Bowie is the perfect fit for the goblin king and his voice is perfect for the eighties style songs on the soundtrack. I am so tempted to quote one of the songs... must fight the urge!

Summary: Labyrinth video review
Review: This really is a wonderful movie, for kids and adults. I wish everyone who was even thinking of buying it could watch it once- it would make up their mind to buy it. I have watched this movie since I was about 3 or 4, and while it may be a little bit to 'scary' for wee little ones, it is the perfect combo of adventure and muppets to keep kids happy. I have this movie, and I love it. If you are thinking of buying it, I suggest you do, you won't be disappointed by it.

Summary: Another thing wrong with the 80s
Review: This movie was sooo lame. The songs hurt my ears and David Bowie's pants hurt my eyes. Jeeze man his dingle was dragging on the ground. Dumb songs, David's tight pants, what could possibly make the movie any more campy? Oh wait there were MUPPETS TOO! This was a stupid, lame and all around retarded movie. I gave it another star because David Bowie had the courage to use a deranged hairstylist kicked out of Cats and wair the leatards that showed all of the bulges.

Summary: Incredible movie that made the history!
Review: I saw it once it was ten years ago and now I bought it. It was just the same I have left it in my memory. I just cannot tell you how excited I am. At last I have MY favourite movie at home. If you haven't seen Labyrinth you haven't seen nothing at all. I mean it. Labyrinth is the same value as Star Wars. They both are unforgettable classic. these movies are made without computers and special effects as we know them. You must watch and understand how hard it was to make this incredible fantasy. It is still THE BEST BEST BEST!!

Summary: Oddity
Review: This is a very strange film that I used to watch over and over again with my next door neighbor. Our parents used to try to convince us to do other activities, but we chose this first. It is scary, perhaps because of the prescence of "the ... ambivalent David Bowie." I knew the words to every song except that odd one near the end in the multi-staircase scene (I had fallen asleep by then).
