Summary: Mediocre
Review: This movie is perfect for most Harry Potter fans, who were delightled to see their visions of Hogwarts and the Magical World come to life on the big screen. However, for me, this movie was more of an exercise in frustration than anything else, as I beleive the adaption from the book is not as faithful as it could be (see Lord of the Rings for an incredibly faithful book-to-movie transition.)

Summary: THE WORST MOVIE EVER!
Review: Well, I just keep thinking what makes a person give a junk like this a 5-star-rating?!?!? Is It all the flufies out there baring the name of the characters? Or the big merchandising machine in which this movie was really made for?? Have people really got into It?? well, with so many reality show programs catering into public taste, I don't doubt It. as a matter of fact, when I went to the movie theaters to see this one, I thought,''Hey, GREAT, I'll finally see some magic moments'', then, I was thinking of THE LEGEND, NEVER ENDING STORY, even LABIRYNTH, which are kid's stuff but pretty magical, after watching the first half of the movie, I just..... Dozed off and then slept. It bored me out of my skull and I couldn't recommend It to anyone who still has some brains. The acting is pitifull, the story is cliche and the only moment which I really enjoyed was when the great horned owls arrived at his door to deliver the mail. Let's all be honest here, first of all, what makes a movie a great movie? When It touches you somehow, right? Well, did at any moment Harry Potter touch you people? Did you feel like crying? Did you feel emotionally drained after watching It? Did you sense any....Magic? I don't think so, now, just a reminder of a great movie is, remember E.T? Hummmm, I cried rivers! Alladin? The Beauty & The Beast? Even Indiana Jones! Well, but that's just a thought.

Summary: Catholic, Buddhist, Witch... What's the Diff?
Review: With an open mind, this movie can touch the soul of any child and "the child" in any adult. My husband is Catholic. I'm primarily Buddhist. He's an attorney. I'm a speech pathologist. He's read every Harry Potter book. I haven't read any. Nonetheless, we watched the "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" movie together for the first time with sheer delight! Whether the "magic" throughout the movie is perceived as symbolic or real, countless lessons in morality may be derived: i.e. 1) To take a risk and remove yourself from the same old setting and humdrum routine because you may embark upon the most rewarding experience of your life, 2) To face your personal demons using intuition and having faith that good will prevail, 3) To cherish and reflect upon your past without holding on, 4) To accept your areas of weakness, to maximize your areas of strength, and to encourage and rely on the strengths of others, 5) To stay focused on your own ball in the "game of life" because your objectives may not be the same others, and by obtaining your objectives, you help others achieve their own goals, 6) To cease judgment upon those individuals or things that "appear evil" because to your surprise, they may turn out to be quite the opposite... and as I mentioned earlier, countless other lessons... But regardless of what you absorb from Harry Potter, it's inevitable not consider the movie as suspenseful as it is humorous. The acting was superb, the special effects were impressively imaginative, and I recommend every teacher and parent out there to take advantage of the popularity of this story. It is utterly a GOLDMINE for language-based activities. TWO THUMBS UP from both Hubby and me... and with flying colors, Harry Potter passed the virtually impossible criteria for our "repeat watch" list!

Summary: Harry Potter Review!!!
Review: I think that this film is really great! This film is for anyone who had dreams and thought could never come true. Even though none of anybody is a Wizard or a Witch you will still love this film. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is full of many great actor and actresses, including Robbie Coltrane, Dame Maggie Smith and much much more. The director of this film is Chris Columbus also the dircetor of Home Alone 3, Stepmum and many more!! So I think anyone is able to watch this film and love it!!!

Summary: Beware Harry Potter...
Review: If you value your Sanity, forget Buying this film, don't even watch it, if you do you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Last Christmas I made the mistake of seeing this film in the cinema, and now I'm hooked. I waited a few weeks to see the Philospher's Stone, and I just had to see The Chamber of secrets on its day of release as a result. I have since read all four books just to get my fix. There are three dates I am looking forward to in 2003:- The release of The 5th Book, the Release of the Chamber of Secrets on DVD/VHS and the release of the 3rd Film in the Cinema. Believe me when I tell you childrens films don't get any better than this (Except maybe Darby O'Gill and the Little People). It has it all, family humour and action that will keep everyone from the youngest, right up to Granny entertained for hours. So I only have one question left to ask, why are you still here and not in front of the TV watching possibly the best film in the last decade. Forget Lord of the Rings, Forget Starwars, this is Entertainment that only an all star British cast can provide!!

Summary: Harry Potter
Review: A truly fun, enchanting film.I have never read the books but the film is great.Harry Potter, the son of a wizard,is left with his evil rellies at birth, after an evil sorcerer kills both of Harry's parents.Only when HP is eleven years old does he discover that he has magical powers, when goaded into anger by his jerk of a cousin.Soon Harry is boarding Platform nine and three quarters and setting off on the Hogwart Express to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft. On the train he meets two other children who are also magical, named Hermione and Roy.I think it was Roy,I can't remember. He swore alot.Once at Hogwarts,Harry,Hermione and Roy must get their hands on the shiny stone that will cause havoc in the hands of that evil guy who knocked off his parents. To do this they must play a dangerous live chess game AND make it past the giant, vicious three-headed dog named Fluffy.(Yes,..Fluffy).There are people who have condemned this movie, due to religion, because of the witchcraft involved.I've been brought up religious but I know that those people are wrong.Harry Potter fights against evil and is always true to good, even when his life is threatened otherwise. He is an empowering character and a terrific role-model for children.

Summary: wonderful movie with a good DVD
Review: I guess almost everybody has seen the movie, so I'll stick to the DVD review only.
A beatifully packed DVD. When I opened the DVD pack, for a minute I did nothing but admire the DVD cover.
The second DVD is full of stuff for kids. As for me, it was a little below expectation. I expected stuff like interview with JK Rowlings, making of the movie, etc. But there is nothing much for the grown-ups. The only thing I found interesting were the deleted scenes. But they are not easily accesible. You have put in your harry knowlege to reach the deleted scenes.

To summarize, it is definately a great(must) buy for kids. But otherwise buy the DVD for the movie (and offcourse deleted scenes) but do not expect too much special stuff.

Summary: The Magic Begins
Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is my favorite movie of 2001, along with The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

This is the first movie based on the first Harry Potter book. Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) has been sent to live with his mean Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon after his parents were killed by the dark wizard, Voldemort. But something strange also happened the night his parents were killed, Voldemort tried to attack him, but somehow Harry survived, and Voldemort was gone. Now, 10 years later, Harry finds out he is a wizard, and is sent off to school at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He makes new friends, including his best friends Ron Weasley (Rupert Grant) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). But they realize that something strange is going on at the school, and they investgate what it is...

I've been waiting for this movie since I read the book. Finally it has come. This has beautiful special effects, from the wizard sport of Quidditch, to the Invisibility Cloak. This is a movie I recommend to anyone of any age.
