Summary: Warning for parents of young ones, but wonderful.
Review: Make no mistake, I thought this movie was wonderfully done. It was beautiful, well written, well cast, and fun. My only complaint was the shooting by Captain Hook. My mother had taken my nephew to it, and had said it was great, but warned me there was a lot of swordplay. That didn't bother me (my 3 1/2 year old loves to pretend swordfight) as long as it wasn't gory. What surprised me was that Captain Hook shoots 3 or 4 people (all crew members, I think, but my memory is a little foggy) and you see the people die fairly close up. I found that shocking - and it required a lot of conversations with my preschooler later. Some parents probably won't mind it, but we are fanatical about not having pretend gun toys, or letting our kids watch things with shooting. The way we explain it is that swordplay is OK, because we know it's pretend. Nobody died today in a swordfight. Same thing with lasers in Buzz Lightyear - it's obviously fantasy, nobody gets hurt by laser guns. But people die from gunshots every day, it's sad, not entertainment, and we don't want our children to mix up the fantasy and reality of guns. They'll get numbed by the news when they're older, for now, if they see a gun we want them to think "Danger!", not "Wow, that's like Captain Hook's". Rant done, now back to overall, it's a wonderful film.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: I LOVED this movie. I think I loved it so much becasue it made me feel the same way the disney one did when I was little. Its facinating and wonderful and makes you want to be there. I havent read the book. (Really want to now though) I can only compare it to the disney version. Some things are taken to a whole new level. The mermaids are compleatly differnt... but the same. The relationship between Wendy and Peter and the "kiss" means more now too. You can see how she is caught between the fun of childhood and the wonders of growing up.

We are going to let our kids watch this but with us at first. (My daughter will LOVE the faries) I really want my kids to see this but becasue they are preschool age there are some things that need further explaining. There is some violance but its not dwelled on. Good for further discussion.

Summary: Definitely worth buying!!
Review: I was watching TV one day and saw an advertisement for the new edition of "Peter Pan". I thought it was really neat-looking, and ironic because at that same time, I was in the middle of doing a Peter Pan play myself, and I played Wendy Darling. Since I was stuck on my weekends with that play, which was finally performed on January 16 - 17, I asked my Mom to drop me off at the movies that same weekend I got done with my play. I thought it was AMAZING. I loved the music, and most of all, I loved the fairy dance. I think, without that scene, I probably wouldn't like it as much as I do now these days.

One part that is dragged out is the "I do believe in fairies" part. But my being 15, I guess that's just a little kids scene thing to get them into the movie.

The movie is so beyond cute, Jeremy Sumpter is an awesome actor, I'm now twice the fan I was before I saw this movie of his. Rachel Hurd-Wood only acted in a school play and you'd barely know it. She's got a gorgeous smile and I think that she'll make it big as an "English Rose."

I ended up seeing this movie 5 times! I never got bored or tired of it, I wanted it to be longer. That was the problem, it ended SO quickly. When I saw it for the 5th time I had memorized most of it, and realized how fast an hour and 45 minutes can go. Jason Isaacs plays a scary (and good!) Hook, and I couldn't imagine any other actor playing Hook.

Well done, PJ!

Summary: Peter Pan=Heaven
Review: This is THE best film EVER! I walked out of the ciemia and was like "woah!". Did I just watch that? Was I really there? The CG effects were perfect. They were real enough to believe but still had that "fantasy" look. eg. pink clouds.
When I found out that Rachel Hurd-Wood (Who plays Wendy) had never done acting before. I said "yeh whatever!" She obvisously has a natural talent for acting.
Jeremy Sumptor even tnhough he was 14 during filming, he had this cheeky "impish" smile and personallity which I think was pefect for the roll of Peter Pan.
Jason Issacs. What can I say he was born to be bad. And he was born for the part of Captain Hook (and Mr Darling)indefinatley.
In coinclusion,I just want to say that while this movie may not be for everyone, Im sure YOU could connect to the storeyline in some way. :)

Summary: Best adaptation of the book ever
Review: Sure, the cute little Disney version of Peter Pan is nice, but as far as sticking close to the wonderfully written original story, Disney's Peter Pan is terrible! This Peter Pan, starring Jason Issacs and Jeremy Sumpter, is the only Peter Pan movie I have seen that really sticks close to the book. Sure, there are some parts that are different and some that are left out, but as far as sticking to litarature, this movie comes pretty close. Not to mention, its great! The special effects are awesome and It's a great movie to watch with any one! I highly recommentd it

Summary: Perfect story and perfect screen
Review: I went to see this movie for 4 times. It's such a great fantasy movie I have ever seen before. Casting and custuming are excellent and screen-playing is so smooth. And the kids,Jeremy, his friends and the girl are so cute. Don't ever miss this great phenomenon!

Summary: The best version to date
Review: This faithful, richly lavish adaptation of J.M. Barrie's classic novel takes on the premise with a more dark and haunting side, as it follows the journey from Edwardian London to Neverland where an on-going war with Captain Hook (Jason Isaacs, doubling as Mr. Darling) is taking place, along with some bloodthirsty pirates, eerie mermaids, and a clock-ticking crocodile. It also adds a rich romance between Peter (Jeremy Sumpter) and Wendy (Rachel Hurd-Wood), which really makes this version a big exception.

The film's opening scenes are definitely intriguing and powerful, as the narrator (the honey-voiced Saffron Burrows) introduces us into the story, with fine sights of an Edwardian London neighborhood with a colorful blue-purple-orange-pink starry night sky above it, the Darling house, the nursery where Wendy and her brothers John and Michael (Harry Newell and Freddie Popplewell, who are terrific) have their pretend swordfights, the parents Mr. and Mrs. Darling (the lovely, talented Olivia Williams), the nurse dog Nana, Wendy's school, a newly added character Aunt Millicent (Lynn Redgrave) who appraises Wendy for future marriage, and the bank where Mr. Darling works. But things tend to really bog down when Sumpter--who looks the part but should have shown more emotion in his performance--arrives at the nursery window, with the help of unnecessary, cheap humor touches (particularly the annoying obnoxiousness of Tink, well played by Ludivine Sagnier) often marring the film's compelling enchantment from there to the end. However, Isaacs shines in his double role of the murderously menacing Captain Hook and the stern father Mr. Darling, and newcomer Hurd-Wood is a treat to watch as a touchingly angelic Wendy Darling, and their effective performances help hold it all together, making it all the more worthwhile and enjoyable. Excellent special effects, absorbing music score by five-time Oscar nominee James Newton Howard, and authentically gorgeous Neverland sets are total knockouts. Not to mention, the Lost Boys are the best to date here, as is Smee, played with wonderful humor by Richard Briers. Most enchanting sequence: Peter and Wendy having a dance by fairy light.

Summary: Best Peter Pan ever!
Review: My wife and I enjoyed this splendidly entertaining and marvelously authentic version of "Peter Pan" as much as the kids. Hopefully this will put to bed the absurd notion of adult women playing the title role. Jeremy Sumpter captures J. M. Barrie's vision of Peter to perfection. Do yourself a favor and ignore the nitpicking critics and enjoy this wonderful family entertainment.
