Rating: Summary: Bigger is NOT better... Review: I don't know why everyone has gone to the 80 minute cd-r/cd-rw. They are much worse than the 74 minute 650 MB cds. Data is kept more reliably on 650 meg cds. On the 700 meg cds, the tracks are much narrower, and generally don't comply with orange book standards. Data on 700 meg cds have a much higher tendency to become corrupt compared to 650 meg cds. Older CD readers (any kind, including audio players) couldn't read these cds at all. Unless it is absolutely necessary, I would highly suggest 650 meg cds. There is more information on brands and quality here: http://freetechsupport.freeservers.com/resource/cdr/index.html
Rating: Summary: Great discs! Review: I've almost burned 75 of the Memorex discs, and have not had one "coaster" yet. The 700 MB limit is great, as well as the 16x speed capability. I can burn at 12x without any problems (I have a PlexWriter 12/10/32A). Plus, the cost is nice and low.
Rating: Summary: how can you go wrong? Review: Personally, these cd's work just fine for me. I have a laptop w/ a built in cd burner and the quality is superb. Perhaps people who are having trouble with them use a diffrent software that I do- Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4. So, whatever, all of my friends with burners (18 to be exact) use Memorex cds, so 18 of us can't be wrong; we use software from Adaptec to iTunes and beyond. Granted, all of us have built-in R/RW drives. So, best of luck to y'all.
Rating: Summary: Work Great for Me Review: These worked great for me. The black color is different and pleasing.
Rating: Summary: These are the best CD-Rs I've found Review: These CDs are amazing - far better than the TDKs I had used before, which surprised me because I've long preferred TDK cassettes over Memorex. Actually, I've preferred almost everything over Memorex, and I only bought these because it was such a good sale when I saw them, and because I had become so irritated with the outrageous fail rate of other CD makers. I bought this pack of 50. Out of the 20 or 25 I've burned, I've not had a single bad one, which is amazing in the world of CD-R media. They burn quickly and cleanly and without a problem; my CD-RW has never had a problem using them (which it sometimes has with others).I highly recommend these disks, and will not be using any other manufacturers any more (unless at some point Memorex proves itself unworthy). But when you have something that works so perfectly, what's the point of trying any other brand any more? There is no point. So I will use these exclusively. As a last irrelevant note, the black color, while not necessary, nor making a bit of difference to recording or playback, *is* really cool looking.
Rating: Summary: Solid! Review: These are the only disks I've found that never, never burn a clinker in my aged Iomega CD burner. I've tried other brands -- 16X Imation, yech -- and even other types of Memorex disks, and these are the best. Often with CD-R disks the problem is that the silver coating is transparent (hold one up to a strong light) and readers tend to have problems. These are pretty opaque, and I suspect that's why I've had such good luck with them. However, do NOT attempt to use the similar-sounding Memorex 16X 700MB/80 min Music CD-R disks for computer use. They are the utter worst.
Rating: Summary: Product Faulty Review: After 16 man-hours of trying to back up three different computers with Veritas Backup Exec Pro v4.5 and Exec v4.2 on Pentium IV 1.7gig Windows 2000 Plexwriter 16/10/40A CDRW and Pentium III 700mhz Windows 98 Sony 10/4/32 CDRW and after uninstalling/installing software I found that the problem was with the Memorex disks. Pop in Sony 1x-16x 700mb disk and the backup works just fine. I purchased 150 of these Memorex disks from Amazon (not your fault) that I now can not use. Bad product Memorex!
Rating: Summary: CLEAN BURNS Review: THESE BLANKS ARE AFFORDABLE & RELIABLE. I PRICED AROUND (EVEN WENT TO BEST BUY) & THEY DON'T BEAT THIS PRICE. JUST RECEIVED MY ORDER OF 50 (WITH FREE SHIPPING) & CAN'T WAIT TO START USING THEM. I BORROWED SOME FROM BY BROTHER-IN-LAW & CAN REPORT I'VE HAD NO ERRORS. WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANY 'BURNER'.....
Rating: Summary: Didn't work for me Review: I've burned 700-800 disks since I got my burner, so I think I know how to do it by now. With other disks, I usually have problems with maybe 4 or 5 out of a spindle of 100. With the memorex media, I had to waste 3 or 4 cd's for each successful burn. Might be a compatability issue - or maybe just a bad batch. I'm going back to Imation.
