Rating: Summary: A Quality Film Review: This film was Jackies first movie that concentrated more on the drama than on the Action. There is still enough action to keep the pace going, but Jackie and Sammo really put their effort into the dramatic scenes. The movie is about a police officer (Jackie) burdened with the responsibility of taking care of his mentally retarded older brother (Sammo). Sammo is accidentally caught up in a robbery and is kidnapped, and Jackie must save the day. The action is good, very good. I really was gobsmacked when Jackie ran up the wall and summersaulted backwards off of it, but the dramatic scenes are just as good. When the theme tune kicks in, the scene is intensified to a point where your eyes feal like somebody is peeling 1000 onions right in front of your face. I think that this is a quality film and that you should buy it.
Rating: Summary: Heart Of Dragon (1985) Review: This is a drama/action. Jackie plays an officer burdened by the responsibility taking care of his retarded brother, Samo. When Samo accidentaly gets involved in a robbery, he is kidnapped by thugs and Jackie's forced to rescue him.
Rating: Summary: Sorry Jackie, but to much acting. Review: This is a good drama if your not a jackie chan fan, otherwise it's not that good of a movie. Well acted for those without expieriance.
Rating: Summary: More than just a good action movie, but good all around. Review: This is a poignant look at the relationship between two brother of which one is mentally handicapped. I thought that Crime Story was the only movie that showed Jackie's acting talent until I saw this one. Sammo Hung is very good also. Basically Jackie plays a cop whose aspirations are put on hold by his brother who he must look after. Eventually his brother gets mixed up in his work ends up being held hostage. The story is exceptional and still leaves room for a mesmerizing fight scene at the end, in which Jackie take care of his brother's kidnappers. A definite must for anyone.
Rating: Summary: Dramatic film Review: This Jackie Chan film is dramatic. There is little comedic material. When Sammo Hung's character is getting tutored, it's frustrating to see the tutor shout at him. To their credit, Sammo never launches into kung fu mode. He pretty much does a good job as a mentally challenged person. This film was different from what I expected. Jackie uses guns in this film.
Rating: Summary: Very moving portrayals from Jackie Chan and Samo Hung Review: This movie was a big surprise! Jackie Chan is a very good actor, as is Samo Hung. The story is about a frustrated cop who must sacrifice his dreams to care for his retarded brother. The action actually takes a back seat to the story, for a change. It's very moving, somewhat reminiscent of "Rainman". Chan's performance has surprising depth to it. It takes a minute to get used to the British voices in the English dubbing--weird to hear Chan & Hung with English accents, although this dubbing job was far less jarring than most of the American dub jobs I've heard. Highly recommend!!
Rating: Summary: Very Good, But Something Missing Review: This was one of the most touching Hong Kong movies I have ever seen. It is enough to bring one to the verge of tears at times. The extras included in the DVD, like the music video, are certainly welcomed. But after having seen the longer version on tape (which included scenes that the theater and DVD versions lacked), I felt that something was missing, and so lowered my rating for the DVD. (Also missing was the gag reel/end credits that are so common to Hong Kong films.)
Rating: Summary: short summary, pros and whose in it Review: truly a very wonderful drama film with good actions in the tradition of 'rainman' where jackie chan has to care for his older brother sammo hung. a good film, pretty sad indeed. actions at the end is superb with top-notch camerawork and fight choreography. see yuen wah and yuen kwai help jackie chan take down criminals.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Movies to Come Out of Hong Kong Review: Very few Hong Kong movies rate four stars or more, and this is one of the very few. It is probably the most touching Hong Kong-made movie that I have ever seen. I saw it when it came out in theaters in Chinatown in 1986, and later over and over on tape. Sammo's non-fighting role is a refreshing break from his usual roles. His hairdo and dress complement his acting well and make his role compelling. Jackie is, well, Jackie. Although the translators did a decent job of dubbing in the English, one really has to see it in its original Chinese to fully comprehend the attitudes of everyday Hong Kong people.
