Review: IT WAS STARRY EXPERIENCE TO SEE JET LI FIGHT LIKE A JET-POWERED FIGHTER.SUERLY JOHN WOO CAN GIVE EXTRAORDINARY FIGHT SEQUENCES. HE WAS TERRIFIC.

Summary: Great movie to watch out for
Review: If there's a Romeo, there must be a Juliet, and this Oakland-set bone-crusher deals with two warring gang families (one African-American, one Chinese) whose straight-and-narrow offspring want no part of the inevitable mayhem. Martial arts star Li's English-language starring debut has toned down the brutality to fashion a movie of slightly broader appeal. OK but overelaborate and overlong. Directorial debut for renowned cinematographer Bartkowiak. Panavision.

Summary: Full of Action
Review: This was a filled action, and entertaining movie. It had lots of action and stupendous actors. They were great for their part in the movie. They worked very good together. Jet Li is a great actor and worked great with Aliyah in the movie. I truly recommend this movie. If you have not seen it you need to go see it. Jet Li got along very well with Aliyah's father. He tried to help them all the time and risked his life all the time. Aliyah was doubtful at first, but went from doubting to love.

Summary: Good Action
Review: This movie is a must see for the action that fills the film. Jet Li and the others put on the moves that keep you in awe. If you like Jackie Chan, you like this movie. The storyline is a little slow but the action makes up for it. Martial arts fans will like this movie!

Summary: Love in Action
Review: God I love this movie!! It's so good, really exciting, with a lot of action and the best actors. When I heard that Jet Li and Aliyah were starring in that movie, I said "I have to go and see that movie!" I never thought that Jet Li and Aliyah would work that good together.

I think that it was really good that Jet Li defended his family and Aliyah's family even though they were different races. I liked the part whenever Jet Li used Aliyah's arms and legs as weapons, to hit a girl. Remember "I can't hit a girl." Now that part was really funny. This movie is a great movie, if you have not seen it you really need to go and check it out.

Summary: marginal outing for jet li
Review: Jet Li is a great martial artist and a pretty darn good actor to boot, so his stuff is always at least pretty good. This one was disappointing, however. A couple of nice fight scenes, particularly the little sparring match on the roof with Russell Wong. But over all there isn't enough kung fu action for the martial arts afficionados and the story line is a little too tired for the non martial arts crowd. The Romeo and Juliet bit actually plays pretty well, but overall this one is merely okay. Jet Li has done better (for example, Fists of Legend). Let's hope his next outing is back up to par.

Summary: zooming jet!
Review: "Romeo Must Die" is a perfect movie for a weekend. Jet Lee is one of the many Asian actors who has not been given his due worth yet. The rivalry between the two families in U.S.was the basic parameter of the movie BUT definately worth a watch.

Summary: My Review...
Review: OK, Romeo Must Die is just an up to date version of the classic Romeo and Juliet. Exept that they are really different movies. I am not going to go into the details of this film because if you know anything about Romeo and Juliet, you may already know the plot.

But, please do not get me wrong, this is not the best adaption to Shakespere's work. It is more of a guys film. Like when their girlfriends took them to see Romeo and Juliet remake in '96, this is their payback.

It has pretty good special effects. It is from the director of the Matrix, which I thought would make it a little better, but it did not really. Although the fire house scene was fairly good.

The DVD was packed with a lot such as 3 music videos. The making of Feature which I always love and alot more.

It is a pretty good choice exept that it deals with racism and pretty much accepts it. The ending is OK, but expected. Not really enough character development.

I buy the DVD if it were less then $15, it is not really worth over $20.

Have A NiC LiFE!

Summary: Surprisingly good
Review: There was something about the previews of this film that failed to engage me. I'm not sure what, but I wasn't attracted to seeing it - and ordinarily I'd have been to a movie like this on opening weekend. So, when my friend & I rented it on DVD, I had low expectations.

Boy, was I surprised. This movie is awesome! It's got it's share of the de rigeur action-movie sequences, but one thing I particularly liked was that this is not all that typical. Several conventions are blessedly ignored (I won't say which, for fear of giving things away but I will say that this flick follows more in the footsteps of The Replacement Killers than your more usual action-fare). The plot is derivative, but they acknowledge as much in the title, so that's okay. What they do with the Bard's work (often derivative itself) is a joy to behold. The characters are worth investing in a little and the good bits are handed out pretty fairly - a date might even like this one, since they've definitely followed the laudable recent trend of letting the women in action movies have some backbone, too (IOW, Aaliyah's character is a terrific example of a strong woman in a traditionally masculine arena). The comedic touches are lightly handled and not too prone to the kind of strained one-liners that infect so much of the genre. The fight sequences themselves require a larger-than-average degree of suspension of disbelief, but I doubt anyone would mind - they're often mind-blowing.

A comment on the DVD itself is in order: the sound is straight out of the theatre. That's great if you have a good surround sound system, but the system we watched it on did not. That led to numerous fumblings with the remote to turn the sound up for dialogue then back down for music or particularly loud effects. Most of the dialogue is shunted to the center channel, so you'll be backing up to hear things right after a loud sequence unless you've got the right system (or you're not worried about bothering the neighbors during the louder parts). Otherwise, the DVD is a beaut. Several extras, including the original trailer that somehow falied to inspire me, some nifty behind-the-scenes stuff and two videos.

All in all, an excellent choice.
