Review: HI; I SAW THIS MOVIE IN THE CINEMA. I WAS VERY PLEASE TO SEE THERE WAS A LOT OF EXCITING STUNTS AND ACTIONS IN THIS MOVIE.I REALLY LIKED THE JOHN WOO MOVIE BECAUSE HIS MOVIE HAS A LOT OF ACTIONS AND OF CAUSE STUNTS. WHEN I SAW THE FISRT EPISODE I REALLY DID NOT ENJOY THE MOVIE; BECAUSE IT HAS TOO MANY TALKING.WHEN I WATCH A MOVIE IN DVD I LIKED THE SOUND SYSTEMS. THIS IS WHERE I SELECTED DVD MOVIES. DVD MOVIES ARE SO CLEAR AND NICE TO WATCH.

Review: I enjoyed the movie and plan to buy it once it's available on DVD... If you plan to enjoy an action movie, then go for MI2 and enjoy every minute of it. If you're a movie critic and would like to compare it to Oscar winning titles, then this movie is not for you.

Summary: Cruise And Woo Take It To The Top With "MI2"
Review: Tom Cruise and director John Woo team up for the high-voltage, heart-stopping, edge-of-your-seat action thriller "Mission Impossible 2," a non-stop rush of excitement that grabs you before the credits even begin to roll with the pulsating vibes of Hans Zimmer's terrific score. Once again, Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt of the IMF, called into action by his boss, Swanbeck (Anthony Hopkins), when a plot involving a deadly virus is hatched by former IMF agent Sean Ambrose (Dougray Scott). Hunt first has to recruit a professional thief, Nyah Nordoff-Hall (Thandie Newton) to help him get the information he needs to avert a disaster that could ultimately put millions of lives at risk. Once he has her, the IMF team goes to work; and when they do, they take you with them on a ride that doesn't end until the screen goes dark. Simply put, Cruise has never been better; he's matured since the first "Mission Impossible," and turns in an outstanding performance here, imbuing Hunt with a believable invincibility that gives a luster and credibility to his heroics throughout the film. Scott is exemplary, as well, and makes his villain and the evil he concocts real. And Newton is charming as the intrepid Nyah, who first catches Hunt's eye, then proves what she's made of when she becomes an integral part of the intrigue. Add this to the expertise that Woo brings to this project, and the result is one unforgettable movie. Working with a superb screenplay by Robert Towne, he takes just enough time to set the plot in motion, and once it starts, it just doesn't stop. His choreographed action sequences are extraordinary; the motorcycle chase is worthy of any Steve McQueen ever did, and the climactic fight between Hunt and Ambrose should set a new standard for the entire industry. His use of slow motion interspersed throughout the action is highly effective, and so well done that it heightens the impact of the inherent drama, as does his attention to detail. Woo more than covers all the bases, and with this work proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that he is one of the finest, if not the best, action directors in the industry, past or present. Ving Rhames returns as Luther, and adds that extra spark to the overall proceedings with another fine performance. The excellent supporting cast also includes William R. Mapother, John Polson, Dominic Purcell and Richard Roxburgh. "Mission Impossible 2" is a rare and special contribution to the action genre; it fairly rips through the screen and takes no prisoners. It's all here, from the trade mark true- identity-hidden-behind-the-mask to the familiar Lalo Schifrin theme (rendered this time around by metal-rappers Limp Bizkit). Superior in all ways to the first "Mission Impossible," this is nothing less than a triumph for Cruise; and John Woo, thy name is Action. For the future, their mission together, if they choose to accept it, is to deliver "Mission Impossible 3." In the meantime, don't miss this one; it is one wild trip.

Review: You know what? Regardless of what you've heard from the media and critics alike, Mission: Impossible 2 is neither the full-on action extravaganza or festering heap of donkey bollocks that everyone's opinion seems to be devided up into. No, it isn't a BAD film, but it ain't great either. No, this isn't John Woo's best film, but it isn't his worst either. Hard-Boiled has better action than M:I-2, and The Killer beats them both in terms of being a better film on the whole. Personally, I didn't really notice the slow middle-portion of the film that everyone else in the world moans about as much as I noticed the far more irritating and blatantly obvious editing out of the film's more violent bits. Watch any other John Woo movie, be it his early Hong Kong classics or his latest films shot in the US, and you'll notice one thing: people shoot guns, and other people get shot. Now, imagine Mr Woo's other action sequences and remove every last frame of a person being hit by a bullet, but leave behind the hero firing his gun. Can you imagine the Hospital shoot out in Hard-Boiled with only Chow Yun Fat firing blanky into space? Perhaps you can, but not without realising just how much less dramatic or exciting the scene will be. Well, that's what happens in Mission: Impossible 2. Tom Cruise fires guns and skids about on the floor with twin guns in typical Woo-fashion, but nobody ever gets shot. Not once. At least, not once where you see it happen. Mission: Impossible 2 is neither as intelligent or well-written as a certain other Brian DePalma film, but if we were able to see the already amazing action sequences in their complete, bullet-flying, blood-soaked entirety, the way they were intended to be, then nobody would bother complaining about a 'slow mid reel'... They would be too busy watching the action sequences over and over again. When the DVD does come out, I won't bother picking it out off the shelf. However, if by some stroke of brilliance, the studio decides to release an uncut version (hint hint, nudge nudge), I will be first in line.

Summary: Mission Impossible,did the Impossible:Ruined Good Franchise
Review: (2 1/2)Tome Cruise + John Woo + Mission Impossible = CRAP! With that formula, HOW COULD YOU RUIN THIS MOVIE? Easy, have a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE PLOT! Combined with an unbelievable scenes and way too quick Love story. It seems the only thing John Woo DIDN'T rush in this film was the action. It all went way too fast. Lets start at the beginning. A totally lame shot of Tom Cruise showing us how much of a man he is, by UNBELIEVABLY climbing some rocks. COuld John Woo have done this in a remotely realistic way? He makes EVERYTHING look so fake. He doesn't give the audience any credit for having at least one ounce of intelligence. So after this, we get to hear Anthony Hopkins WAY cool voice, tell Tom of his totally unoriginal mission. The over-produced opening credits, which somehow remixed the MI theme into utter crap, were done WAY WAY WAY better in the first film. So the plot stinks. What else can they mess up? Sure they add some hot chick for Tom to love. Ok but did it have to happen so darn quickly? In about ten minutes, he's IN LOVE with her. What the? This movie has NOTHING GOING ON for the first 90 minutes. There is no mission, no team effort, no strategy or awesome teqnique for capturing the villian. Its so messy, this movie lacks ALL of the style and substance of the first. THe first film at least made you THINK. The script and plot were great! Those who liked this movie for its simplicity need a higher level of education. So after 90 minutes of this garbage, whats our reward? Sure the movie LOOKED great, John Woo did his job as director. His action scenes (Though outdone by other movies this summer. IE: Gladiator, Shanghai Noon, Perfect Storm) Did live upto his signature. It did have its "awesome" moments. But BOY it just WASN'T worth it. I HATED the plot so much, all the "face changing" got rediculous. I predicted the one at the end. Only TWO surprised me. This movie also lacked ANY neat gadgets. Ving Reins and the other guy, don't do much in this movie. They just serve as Tom's side kicks but don't really make up much of the "team" feel. Go watch The first one a few more times, and enjoy the time when this franchise LOOKED hopeful. That movie will obviously never be surpassed as long as John Woo is directing. I heard they are making a 3rd with Woo to direct again. It seems the sequel curse will never end. At least the FIRST rocked. In short, Hollywood needs to start treatings it audience a little better. This movie slapped me in the face and basically said "We think you're too dumb for an intriquet plot and smart dialoge, here are a few booms to keep you entertained"

Summary: M:I-2 = FANTASTIC FILM!
Review: I hadn't even seen the first Mission Impossible movie so didn'tknow 'exactly' what to expect when I went to see the sequel in a UK cinema recently. It was absolutely fantastic. It has a very similar structure, story and similar characters to the recent excellent James Bond films but has more engrossing and awe-inspiring scenes of action and fantastic scenery. The cast all perform brilliantly especially the supremely talented Mr. Tom Cruise who puts in another outstanding performance. Dougray Scott as the bad guy also deserves credit for his performance as does the rest of the cast. I recommend this film to James Bond fans and all action/adventure/mystery/thriller fans and fans of similar genres. All in all, an excellent film! Phil Pearson ...

Summary: Big Disappointment
Review: When I heard John Woo was going to direct Tom Cruise in MI:2, I thought "How could they go wrong?" My question was answered when I saw the movie. When I go see an action movie, I accept the fact that the hero will almost be invincible, but this was totally ludicrous. With a gun pointed at his back, Tom Cruise has time to kick a gun up to his hand, spin around, dodge the bullets, and shoot back with perfect aim! I can accept some exaggeration in movies. I love action movies like Die Hard, Cliffhanger, etc. This was just too stupid. By the way, what happened to the bad guy in the movie? John Woo always has great villans in his movies. This guy was non-existant (and they wanted him to play Wolverine in X-Men. What a relief that Hugh Jackman got the role instead.) In the end, I really enjoyed the first Mission Impossible, but the second one is not worth the money they spent on it.

Summary: Almost embarrassed I saw this movie
Review: I took in a matinee showing of MI2 on a rainy Sunday a few weeks ago. Although I only shelled out $3.00 to see it, I felt like I'd wasted my time and my money. I did not see MI1 (and am certainly in no hurry to now) but I have seen a few John Woo movies (FACE/OFF and BROKEN ARROW) and thought this might be a fun way to pass a couple of hours. Well, it wasn't fun. Yes, the film is choc-a-bloc with chases and explosions, so if that's your thing... If you're over 12 years old (mentally), however, this film will do nothing for you. Well, it may make you wonder about the state of our culture, or why talented people like Woo and Cruise conspire to produce such a mess. Or why a talented young actress like Thandie Newton has to appear in commercially oriented dreck like this in order to further her career. On the other hand, this movie may inspire some doctoral student in film studies or popular culture to write a dissertaion on "Identity Exchange in the Films of John Woo," since the bad guy/good guy identity switch is carried over--albeit clumsily-- from FACE/OFF.

Review: This is a example of how special effects has been taking over films rather than acting. Don't get me wrong i love big budget action scenes but it helps to have a plot. Its clear that the plot has been written to fit around the action sequences not vice versa. Lets hope there is no M:I3
