Summary: Jet li is the KING of kung fu!!!!!
Review: All I gotta say is, this is the best martial arts movie ever!!! Better than any Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan flick. Jet li's moves are all real, not like those other movies with Seagal and Vandamme. The first time I saw the opening scene in the movie, I had to rewind it to see all the moves. I would love to see Jet and Bruce duke-it-out. I think if it came down to it Jet li would beat Bruce. In conclusion, if you see this movie just brace yourself when the fight scene between Jet Li and the Japanese master (not the general) takes place. Unreal!!! Jet Li is KING!

Summary: Spectactular fight choreography!
Review: This movie's plot is practically a clone of Bruce Lee's Chinese Connection, but that doesn't bother me at all. Rather I compared the confrontation between Jet Li and the Japanese students in their dojo to the same scene in Bruce's movie. I was astounded to see how far fight choreography has come. Don't get me wrong, I'm not making light of Bruce Lee ( I own all his movies). But you can't deny that the choreography in this movie is at once more spectacular and even, dare I say it, more realistic ( save of course for scenes in which people break concrete with their bare hands, etc). I especially like it when a director literally has a room full of bad guys attack a hero en masse, rather than one at a time as seen in martial arts flicks of the past. Another comparison can be made with the Bruce Lee film by watching Jet Li take a slightly different approach to defense versus a katana. Whereas Bruce chose a nunchaku, Jet Li favors an ordinary belt. Don't be discouraged that this story is not at all original. But don't treat it like a carbon copy of the Chinese Connection either. I believe the director set out to deliberately take the old story and redo it with a modern, more innovative, approach to the fight choreography. This is a "must see" for fans of Hong Kong martial arts pictures.

Summary: it's THE best!!
Review: The moves that Jet Li can do are the reason why I watch his videos. This one has an incredible upside down kick on the shoulder. Jet Li's array of styles are shown best here as well. He even does the chinese boxing style. (this movie is a remake of bruce lee's fist of fury). Except I think he's better than bruce lee. This guy can act really well too. Much better than american action films where the guy has to somehow be romantically be involved. This is pure action!! and yes, it does have issues of honor, and respect.

Summary: As good as Drunken Master II
Review: This film blew me away. While the plot is the standard Japanese attempt to eliminate the Chinese martial arts, it's done a little better than the other movies I've seen with the same story line. I also like the way the characters have some honor and respect for each other. Unlike a lot of kung-fu movies I found myself watching it for more than just the action. I've also seen Legend of New Shaolin but I think Jet Li's character here was much more interesting. I would have to put this film with Drunken Master II as one of my favorites. Everything from the supporting cast to the set was a level above most movies. If you like Kung-Fu movies you won't be disappointed with this film.

Summary: Is not this guy the best martial artist ever
Review: I am a big martial art fan but not of the like of Steven Seagal, Van Damne and those so call american ninja, american shaolin or whatever they call them. I have countless of hong kong movies in shaolin and wu tand series. I discover Jet Li, one day while browsing through the net in search of some Jackie Chan,Bruce Lee and other hong kong movies. Everywhere(every site) I go, Jet Li name is mentioned as many times as Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. I decided to get to know the guy(Jet Li). I purchase Fist Of legend in place of of Tai Chi Master (that I could not find at the time). After seeing this movie, I could not beleive my eyes for the fighting scene and the plot were so great and well orchestrated. From then, I could not watch any other martial art movie staring any one actor. Jackie is great as an actor and I respect him. But my heart goes to Jet Li, for he is a true martial art expert. The questions that come to my mind after watching this movie, was "Who the hell is this guy? Why he is not known in the west". All I can say, is that after enjoying this movie, I subscribed to a chinese video store and since then I have almost all his movies, eventhough I do not speak chinese, I still enjoy eveyone of them. For Jet Li english subtitle can do it for me. Fist Of the legend along with Tai Chi Master are the best of all I've seen so far. My last comment is: You can dislike some of Jet li's movies because of the lack of plot, but you will never regret watching any one of them. JET LI is phenomenal and he is everything you have not seen in martial art movies yet. For him alone you forget about the lack of plot.

Summary: To the viewer from NY
Review: To the viewer from New York who didn't like my review.

*Please don't try to discredit my opinion

*My copy was an official release from Mei Ah LD.

*Fist of fury & the Chinese connection are the same film. However, another Bruce Lee film known more widely as the Big Boss is also known as Fists of fury, take note of the plural.

*Yes, I was comparing Fist of legend to that Van Damme film.

*As for how many HK films I've seen, well I seen enough to form a "good" opinion, I also don't have or need to wait for the tranlated version.

Summary: Jet Li is like a God. Only better.
Review: Everyone knows Jet Li is the best, and homosexuals from Sydney are only mad 'cause he's straight.

Summary: 6 1/2 stars martial moovie!
Review: I have seen "Once Upon In China" 1, 2 and 3 before I saw this in the theater. I could not believe what Jet Li could do and I stayed and watched two consecutive shows in a row. These are real martial styles from Japan and China. Oh boy! I wish I could get to see Bruce lee and Jet Li in a match! This is the best martial arts movie since the death of Bruce Lee. At least in this movie Jet Li has some costars (and opponents) with real fighting skills, not like the other guys in all of Bruce Lee's flicks. John Saxon and Jim Kelly could not kick dirt if it is on the ground. Chuck Norris is slower than my sister.

Summary: 5 stars fighting scene but the plot -4 and overall 3stars.
Review: This movie story is base on the consparacy story after the death of Martial art ledgend- Hu Yuan Ja. His the the one who actually invited by the Japanese jujitsu martial artists and defeat them during close door match in the japanese embasy.(True history fact). His martial style are great so as all of his students who also shows great martial art skill and tested countless open door challange by Foriegn martial artists include japanese martial art. However, the movie plot just make Hu Yuan ja's style suck compere to japanese jujitsu and need jet li use so call kick boxing style to solve the problems. In fact, this movie plot is completely manupulated the fact and ruined the martial legend raputation. The entire movie plot design looks like someone try to make movie about 3K groups didn't kill black people in 50 and 60 . Anyone who who have the knowledge the Legand of Hu Yuan Ja life time achievment will definetely agree man command about this movie.

Summary: Best production value there is!!!
Review: To the reviewer from Sydney right before me, are we seeing the same movie????/

This movie's production value is superior than every Hong Kong action movies ever made (and trust me, I've seen A LOT of Hong Kong movies). Where did you get your copy? A pirate copy from a street corner????

It's hard to rate it against some art-hourse films, but even the storyline is as good as any dramas. The characters are complete and complex, which is rare for an action film.

And the action... the ACTION!! It surpasses every kung-fu movie there is and it remains one of a kind.

And please, at least know what you are talking about, what Fist of Fury? It's a tribute to the Chinese Connection. I say a tribute because it's far better than a remake.

Streetfighter? If it's the Anime you are talking about it, at least I see some resemblence. If it's the stupid American film you are talking about, I'm starting to think you haven't seen any of these films and simply wanted to kill some time by ticking off Jet Li fans.
