Summary: What's The #1 Sci-fi Movie of The '80's? THE RUNNING MAN!
Review: I thought this adaption of Stephen King's novella was an excellent movie. Richard Dawson is superb as the sinister Damon Killian. Arnold Swartzenegger is perfect for the role of Ben Richards, the wrongly accused policeman. The futuristic scenes look much like that of the early '90's. A well planned movie, with a killer climax. Richard Dawson makes this movie great.

Summary: The Running Man Is Great
Review: The running man is one of my favorite movies. It is an awesome thiller about Arnold Schwartzenegger where he is wrongfully acused of murder and has to pay the price. In the future however, their is no electric chair or gas chamber. There they put Arnold in an arena with furocious gladiators. Arnold has only one thing on his mind, KILL. If you love action movies and Arnold, this is definitely your kind of movie!

Summary: Run, Forest, Run!
Review: Market face Schwarzenegger is a renegade in the future trying to escape the country when he is caught and forced on convict killing game show for a multiconglomerate scumbag. Extremely entertaining cheapie-looking movie full of funny dialogue catch phrases and violent action to please vets and patriots. One complaint: The stupid scene for the opening of the show includes uncommonplace degrading of women.

Summary: Short of the finish line
Review: Before Arnold Schwarzenegger got to appear in quality films (TOTAL RECALL, TWINS) he was the premier star of B-movies such as THE RUNNING MAN.

RUNNING MAN delivers some entertainment value thanks to imaginative villains (the psycho opera singer was my favorite) and a wild Richard Dawson as the movie's chief antagonist. On the minus side are ridiculous action sequences that, even in a picture like this, are unbelievable.

After all, THE RUNNING MAN starts with a serious premise of big government and industry manipulating public opinion. If we are to take that seriously, then how about keeping the fight scenes realistic?

And what about the scene where Scharzenegger has a barefoot Maria Conchita Alonso tied up? Her helpless bare feet are at Arnold's mercy (the film even shows Maria's feet close-up) but he does not tickle them! He's trying to sweat a confession out of the gal but does not take advantage of her ticklish situation? How realistic is that!

THE RUNNING MAN does not reach the finish line but may be worth a look on television.

Summary: Why does this always happen?
Review: I can see changing a few minor details here and there to smooth out production and make the movie more digestible to the general public, but this is crossing the line. They butchered the Running Man just like they butchered Relic by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. They both have epic plots and two of the best sets of characters I've ever seen. Neither movie stays true to the book...or even close. The most frustrating reality of it is that both movies would have been SO MUCH better had they done so. They say King(Bachman) novels don't translate to the screen? How will we ever know if hollywood continues to twist plots and butcher storylines for a buck? Don't get me wrong, this is a good movie, almost really good. But if you looking for the movie version of the Bachman novel... well...

...there isn't one. Sorry.

Summary: So very Mad Phat Movie!
Review: This movie was mad awesome! The music was sensational, the plot was what "The Most Dangerous game" should have been, and I love the quote: "I Haven't Been In the buisness as long as you. But I'm a quick learner, And I'm going to give them what they want." and then he slams Killian into the luger. This was one of Arnolds Greatests!

Summary: Running man is one of Arnold's best...
Review: ...and that don't say much. Arnold Schwartzenegger is a prisoner of a dictatorial state. Framed for a "massacre" that he was ordered to do -- but refused -- he is sentanced to play in a gameshow. Apparently my crime was worse, since I was forced to watch it.

For the most part, it has it's high points. It doesn't try to be epic, like a lot of sci-fi (Total Recall), it has lots of fun action, cheesy dialogue, and stylized bad guys. It fits it's niche well!

For the most part, this is just about the best of Schwartzenegger's mindless films. Lots of fun, if you've acquired low-brow tastes for spray cheese, warm beer, and one-liners.

Summary: The Ultimate Arnold Schwarzengger/Stephen King pinball game.
Review: Why are we so obssessed with Televison? Well, The Running man is the futuristic answer. In the Running man based on Stephen King aka Richard Bachman's book. Futuristic Cop Ben Richards is Wrongly convicted of Killing innocent citizens, but he escapes from prison with two buddies. Where he is captured only to appear on a Violent Game show called The Running man, where he and his friends must fight for their lives, as they are being Slaughtered by Stalker Gladiators. Ben seeks the truth from beyond the TV center. Damon Killian is holding the truth.

Summary: ANOTHER STEPHEN KING FILM THAT DOES NOT TRANSLATE TO SCREEN
Review: Enjoyable, but hardly worthy of any accolades as a great sci-fi/fantasy film. Remember, there's more to a film than mere ONE LINERS and F/X. The only plus to this movie was RICHARD DAWSON (former FAMILY FEUD host). Quite a contrast from his lovable self on that show. Thus being the perfect candidate for this evil role. Otherwise, one is better off sticking to the novel. Incidentally, PAUL MICHAEL GLASER (director) is the same former ACTOR who starred as STARSKY in TV's "STARSKY & HUTCH."
