Rating: Summary: Holds Your Interest.......Very Colorful Review: I first saw this movie on TV in about 1990 and have loved it ever since. It is full of enough action and interesting scenes you can rewatch it several times before you pick up on all the detail. I enjoyed the characters portrayed, the storyline is interesting and the sets are pretty good for a B movie.
It is more colorful than a Mad-Max film although in the same genre....after the end of civilization as we know it.
This is the first film I ever saw Melanie Griffith and she is the strong character of the film.
You do have to have a sort of interest in the Bazaar side of life to enjoy a movie like this. I do not want to give away the secrets of the story. My collection wouldnt be without it.
I actually enjoyed it on par with top sci-fi like the Terminator series or adventure like Indiana Jones.
Rating: Summary: Tough Melanie Review: A movie that is better than it's premise would suggest. Great job from Melanie Griffith in a unique role. She dominates and steals the film even though the credits list her no better than 6th(?) The bad guys in this film are possibly the worst shots in cinema history, even worse than the Stormtroopers in Star Wars. I got a kick out of them firing hundreds of rounds at our heroes to no avail, only to be taken out themselves with one shot. Fun flick for a dreary winter day. Rent it, buy it, but watch it.
Rating: Summary: As close as it gets to anime and final fantasy Review: Action- Adventure, scifi-fantasy + romance. This is a sweet package. Great character outfits + very colorful settings. If you like 5th element, then you should like this movie.
Rating: Summary: It grabs you at the beginning and won't let you go! Review: After this movie puts the hook in you, you can't let it go. Even non Post Nuclear buffs would have a hard time putting this one down. A great love story with unique twists each time the hero turns a corner. Alas, the heroine comes to his rescue and, of course, a happy ending!
Rating: Summary: the mediocre world of the future Review: Cherry 2000. I'll make it short and sweet. The movie is a renter for most people. It has some decent action sequences and some cool moments, but nothing spectacular. It's a good 80's movie to watch on a boring summer afternoon, when your feeling nostalgic. Otherwise this movie is not sci fi enough for the hardcore sci fi guy. Not intellectual enough for the brainy movie people, and not dramatic or invovlving for the emotional people. It just kinda hovers on the mediocre. If i were to express my feelings for this movie in one word i would use "good" or perhaps a simple grunt "eh." accompanied by a shoulder shrug. Rent before you buy
Rating: Summary: Cecil B. Demented's Second Feature Review: Here's Honey Whitlock, pre-surgery, pre- baby voice and wipe-you-off-the-windshield stunning. Director Steve De Jarnatt went on to make the amazing Miracle Mile (1989), while writer Michael Almereyda did the pixelvision Najda (1994) and Hamlet (2000) with Ethan Hawke. A must-see for anyone thinking of casting Melanie Griffith in a real movie ever again. Demented Forever!
Rating: Summary: Looking for love in all the wrong places Review: I am pleased that they have finally decided to release Cherry 2000. I watched this movie in the '80s and have was never able to find it on tape, the DVD. This movie is a love story set in the future. Where even holding hands takes a contract, so imagine a relationship. Our leading man has it all, the perfect job, homelife and wife...But one day she short circuits and current technology has fallen on hard times, and no one can fix her. But he saves her memory. So the search begins in the wastelands of what was once the western USA, with a female tracker he hires. They find the precise robotic girlfriend... the love interest are their, but this is not just a chic flick. It is a chic flick for guys as well. The action scenes and futuristic backgrounds, along with the relationship between the two main characters make this an excellent movie. I highly recommend it. You wil lalways remember Cherry 2000.
Rating: Summary: Great movie Review: I am so glad that they have finally decided to release Cherry 2000. I have seen this movie only once or twice in the 80's and have always looked for it on video or dvd. The movie is futuristic and has many interesting moments. I normally cringe at romantic or "chick" movies (even though I am female), but Cherry 2000 is the only exception. The action scenes and futuristic backgrounds, along with the relationship between the two main characters make this an excellent movie. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Tongue-in-cheek Sci-fi Review: I liked this film, it's a tongue-in-cheek sci-fi flic with lots of humor and action. It's one of those movies that could become cult movies, and I was really amazed that it is currently unavailable (I was actually hoping to buy a DVD version). I really hope it will be re-released soon, preferrably on DVD.
Rating: Summary: Fun Movie. Fast and Brainless. What's wrong with that? Review: I love this movie. Was a favorite ever since I first saw it in the theater. Cool locations and sets. Good cast and funny circumstances. The bar scene in the beginning cracks me up and Lester the bad guy is awesome. Not Raiders of the Lost Ark, but well worth your time.
