Summary: I love Bond, James Bond.
Review: This is one of my very favorite Bond films, up there with "From Russia With Love". It's visually stunning, and the cast is great. There's no stunt, car chase or special effect I like more than the tank ride through the streets of St. Petersburg. I'ts planned out to perfection, and our man James even gets to straighten his tie at the end of it.

This is Pierce Brosnan's first Bond film, and I think he's fabulous in the part. He brings a sleek finesse to the role and maybe even a touch of depth and sensitivity for these "post women's lib neo politically correct" times we live in...looks mighty fine in a tux too.

It has a feisty collection of characters, from Alan Cumming as Boris the hacker to the wonderful Judi Dench as "M". The "Bond girls" are good too. Izabela Scorupco is lovely, and Framke Janssen, as a vicious vixen who gets her kicks from killing, makes quite a match for the invincible 007. You also get a little of Minnie Driver, in a funny bit as she "sings".

Having the usual vastly entertaining plot of bad guys, foreign intrigue, double agents, and bombs and bullets, it's worth owning for repeated viewing, and once is not enough to see the details in that incredible tank chase.

Summary: Goldeneye: a sucessful faliure
Review: Goldeneye is the 17th movie in the legandary 007 saga stars Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. His perfomance was fantastic. He was a little rigid at times, but in my opinion is 007. However the case with the film is quit different. As an action movie it is spectaluar. As a Bond film, it lacks quite a bit. As an action movie it is one of the '90's best. It plot is not rienforced, and is based around violence, there is no real character devolpment which makes it fun to watch. But it is not very memroable. As a Bond movie it is NOT my favorite! It does follow the "Bond Formula" but the plot is based on pure action, there is no chacter devolpment(which I think is bad because after a six year abscence from the silver screen I would like to see how the character has changed. It also can drag. I recommened Tomorrow Never Dies (My FAVE!!!) but watch it and see for yourself. Move over SEAN, Brosnan = Bond!

Summary: The Classic Bond-style Film!
Review: As a self-proclaimed Bond aficionado, I have watched each Bond film countless times... And this is one of my favorites. Although it is Brosnan's freshman performance as the master spy, he tackles the feat with an amazing understanding of the character. And this is no "Remington Steele" repeat. The character is fresh, exciting and engrossing. To match Brosnan's acting, a brilliant script has been provided which contains nafarious evil-doers and "larger than life" action scenes. (For example, Bond chases the antagonist with a tank down the streets of Paris)

No matter how many Bond movies you've seen, this one will rekindle your love for agent 007 with a new and exciting storyline while keeping the classic plot features and non-stop action!

Summary: Good Start, Stupid Ending
Review: Pierce Brosnan as Bond? That's what I thought, too. But after Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton, Brosnan seems almost palatable. Efforts by the studio to bring the series back to reality beginning with Dalton continue here, but with a darker more Batman-like look to the sets and characters. This "updating" is rather effective, clearly seperating this film visually from it's uneven past.

The Brocolli studio, perhaps sensing Brosnan would have difficulty supporting the series single handed, added the new M -- played to perfection by Judi Dench. She adds an incredible amount of depth to the film, acting as a quasi parent and friend to Bond. Brosnan and Dench clearly have great chemistry together, so there willl always be a little something to look foreward to if they continue keeping Dench's profile high.

In terms of story, Goldeneye is lacking a strong central villian, but the sexy russian assassin who wants to crush Bond between her vice-like legs makes up for most of this in pure sexual charisma. And she does a pretty good acting job, too.

But by the end of the film, an over-the-top tank chase with Bond at the wheel completely ruins the film, reducing it to the level of the most cartoony Roger Moore Bond. Stay the course, you cowards!

Summary: NO MORE FOREPLAY
Review: Financially, the most successful and in most peoples eyes the best ever; this Bond probably wont ever be matched. There was a tremendous build up to this movie; after a 6 year break in the series I thought that 007 was dead and was way past its sell by date. Only by drastically overhauling 007 would it ever survive; and boy, did it get modified.

Goldeneye exploded onto the screen with a new Bond, new cast, new music, new style, new (well, old) cars and, new watch. Everything was totally fresh and bang up to date, bustling with modern technology - computers, space weapons and The Internet; a funky electro soundtrack and domineering women.

What about the story? Cleaver. Cataclysmic space based weapon hijacked with the aid of a hi-tech helicopter and a computer programmer. The culprit? 006, James Bond's ex partner who was presumed dead. The cast? World class. Judi Dench plays M, like a strict head mistress (mmm). Robbie Coltrane brings us his acting magic as a comical Russian gangster and tough guy Sean Bean is 006. The actors who play Ourumov and Mishkin are world class too and of course the babes are legendary.

Brosnan? He is only good in GoldenEye, because he looks tense and serious, which is the way a spy should be, and he brings an air of vulnerability and realism with it, but a few times he tries to be funny and he just fails miserably and he is a little wimpy.

There are some good action scenes in this movie, like Bond being chased in his '60's Austin Martin by Xenia in a convertible Ferrari, but the main action scene, where a tank chases a car through St Petersburg is a waste of time. I would much rather have seen a decent car-chase, e.g. with the Ferrari and Bond driving something a bit more modern, like his new Z3, that only gets about a 20 second part.

I could go on for ever, saying I would change this, that or the other, but, for an all round James Bond movie this one stands out from the crowd by being refreshingly different, more refined than any other, and is probably the best Bond ever; so good in fact that it would have been a worthy ending to the series. God Save The Queen.

Summary: James Bond for a new era
Review: GOLDENEYE is definitely the best Bronsan Bond film (much better than TOMMOROW NEVER DIES and THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH!) so far. It's also the best Bond outing since FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. It's got everything a good Bond movie needs: A good Bond, a good Bond girl, a good villain, good action scenes, and a good plot/story.

Summary: The Clique of Thyme
Review: "GoldenEye" is a great 'post-cold war' espionage film. Pierce Brosnan's screen personification of James Bond is good. Many of us expected a lighter interpretation of the character but we were pleasantly surprised. Instead Brosnan gave a very no-nonsense performance of Fleming's dedicated civil servant. We even get a Fleming-like villain named Xenia Onatopp deliriously played by Famke Janssen thrown in for good measure. Several of the production crew did their best work on this film. Derek Meddings' miniature work is the best of the series. Composer Eric Serra gave us one of the most innovative scores since John Barry. This was a new James Bond entering a new era and the music was right on target. There must be a very large army of lobbyists out there who just will not give up on the notion that John Barry's way is the only way. Unfortunately this is Eric Serra's only James Bond score. It was good to see Desmond Llewelyn return as "Q" and give Brosnan a good step in the right direction. It was good to see the Astin Martin DB5 again. They had to retain a little bit of continuity. I thought the action scenes in this film were excellently filmed especially the fight between Bond and Trevelyan inside the satellite dish. It was pretty intense. All in all this is a good James Bond movie and a great DVD. It has one of the crispest images I have ever seen.

Summary: thrilling and action packed
Review: This movie is about some traders in the KGB, that stole an EMP device to destroy the evidence of a massacre they committed although a girl hid in a cupboard and was the only wittness. Bond comes to get information from her to track them down meanwhile destroying every vehicle he gets into. This movie was thrilling and you never knew what was going to happen next.

Summary: Bond's lost his touch!
Review: I am one of Bond's biggest fans so I can't really believe the rating I'm giving this movie. It all started when one of my friends said this was the best movie ever. I went right away and bought it, and boy was I dissapointed. The only good part was Tina Turner's song. Another bad thing was having Xenia in there. All she does is a bunch of sick noises, etc. The plot also really stunk. Either rent, or just don't see it at all.
