Summary: A Great, New Taste in the James Bond movies
Review: Goldeneye is a great James Bond movie. Pierce Brosnan has to get credit for his performance as James Bond. Sean Connery was good, George Lazenby was plain and acted like a stick figure, Roger Moore was too nice and kind, Timothy Dalton spiced up 007 with his "over the edge" approach, but Pierce Brosnan is the greatest James Bond yet! I am a avid 007 fan and I have seen all of the movies so I know just what other people are looking for. The villans are also great. Sean Bean portrays Alec Trevelyan 006, Bond's best friend that also has a darker side that James did not know. Alec was once 007's partner, so he knows his every move. It is great to see a newer and more evil villan. The action sequences are great. The movie first sars off with James bungee jumping off the world's largest dam, then the pace of the movie has you up on your seat when James Bond is drving a WWII tank in the streets of St. Petersburg. If you don't like those cat-and-mouse chases, there is also many awesome mano-e-mano fights, including the climatic scene of 007 and 006 fighting on top of a Antenna cradle in Brazil. All in all, it is a great Bond movie that you shouldn't miss!

Summary: Bond Is Back And He Is Here To Stay!
Review: GOLDENEYE was the first film to introduce Pierce Brosnan (Quest For Camelot, Thomas Crown Affair, Die Another Day) as the new 007 - Bond, James Bond. Directed by action director Michael Campbell (Vertical Limit, The Mask Of Zorro) the movie introduces a diabolical plan to destroy all electrical systems of the planet.The evil mastermind of this plot is Alec Travelyan played by Sean Bean (Lord Of The Rings, Black Beauty) with his henchmen Boris played incredibly well by Alan Coming (X-Men 2, Annie). The movie is filled with action, gadgets and excitement including a chase sequence through the Russian Square with a real tank. He also has his beautiful women that he must - must - must - interact with -like Izabella Scorupco (Vertical Limit, Reign Of Fire). Joe Don Baker (Tomorrow Never Dies, Mars Attacks) plays an incredibly funny US Military agent who ads a little spark to Bonds Adventures. He caries this character into the next two Bond Films as well. They are fun to watch together. This also marks the debut of the new M and Miss Moneypenny. The fantastic Dame Judith Dench (Shakespeare In Love, Chocolat, The Shipping News) takes on the role of the British Secret Service Commander "M". She plays the role in the next 4 Bond films with flair, energy and smarts. Samantha Bond (Breakout, Emma) takes on the teasing Miss Moneypenny that ends up having a great chemistry with Pierce. The movie is exciting and filled with action and special effects. Pierce's performance as the new Bond make it believable and as if he had been doing this all his life. The extra features include a great commentary track, a behind the scenes special and a Bon retrospective! Very entertaining and informative. Incredible acting and sincerity he has on screen. This is a MUST for every Bond fan. 5-20-03

Review: The 17th James Bond movie. After a six year hiatus from LICENCE TO KILL, major political upheaval would drastically envelop: the fall of the Berlin Wall, communism collapses in Eastern Europe, and the Soviet Union being dissolved. As the Cold War came towards its' end, fans may have felt weary the James Bond series would end with it. It wasn't until producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli (under supervision from Albert R. Broccoli) now owned the franchise and gambled to bring new life to the character and series. The ongoing events of global alliances, superior weaponry, and advanced technology inevitably set the standard for action, excitement, and suspense. Of course the major component is casting Pierce Brosnan in the role of James Bond. With a riveting performance by Brosnan, and a new thrilling adventure blessed with exotic locales, high-tech gadgetry, beautiful women, deliciously evil villains, and a new female M as portrayed by Dame Judi Dench, GOLDENEYE proves 007 once again a true hero of lethal charm and ruthless determination. THE ASSIGNMENT: In 1986, Bond and Agent 006 collaborated for a mission in Archangel that went aury with 006 being murdered. Now in the present year (1995, the films' release) Bond has an encounter with mysterious Soviet Xenia Onatopp who has a flair for stunt driving and erotic pleasure. Unaware to Bond or MI6, Onatopp works for the now General Ourumov (who was the enemy in the 1986 mission) under the Janus Crime Syndicate in Russia. Ouromov and Onatopp burst into the Severnaya Computer Facility, kill everyone, and test-fire the GoldenEye satellite in space, obliterating the entire facility. M assigns Bond to seek those responsible and why. He has only two leads; streetwise yet infamous crime boss Valentin Zukovsky, and Natalya Simonova, the sole survivor of the Severnaya disaster, who is out to seek revenge of her own. THE VILLAINS: Sean Bean as Alec Trevelyan, Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp, Gottfried John as General Ouromov, Alan Cumming as Boris Grishenko, and Tcheky Karyo as Defense Minister Dimitri Mishkin. Review: "GoldenEye" is a must-see action/adventure film that combines a legend with a great script, wonderful cast and a spectacular director. First, Piere Brosnan is a great Bond compared to the others and even gets 1st place on my list. He's great as 007! Sean Connery was excellent also. Roger Moore and Timothy Dutton were good, but not great. As you know, Pierce Brosnan ("The Lawnmower Man", "Mrs. Doubtfire", "Dante's Peak", "The Thomas Crown Affair", "Grey Owl") plays the suave, secret 00 agent with a license to kill, James Bond. Bond is out to secure the "GoldenEye", a mass destruction weapon that wipes out anything with an electronic circuit. A Severnaya work station in Russia was already wiped out by this weapon after everybody being killed by Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen, "Celebrity", "Deep Rising", "Rounders", "The Faculty", and in the upcoming "Don't Say A Word") and General Ouromov who work for the double-crossing, evil-turned villain, agent 006, Alec Trevelyan (Sean Bean, "Patriot Games", "Don't Say A Word") who wants to use the Goldeneye with the help of a Severnaya level 1 programmer, Boris Grishenko (Alan Cumming, TV's "God, The Devil and Bob", "Josie and the Pussycats","Eyes Wide Shut", "The Anniversary Party"). Bond, who gets help from a Severnaya level 2 programmer Natalya Simonova (Izabella Scorupco)learns about the weapon and how it can be stopped. With lives and money at stake, Bond must rush to obtain the GoldenEye and must prevent it from being used to destroy electronic files. Joe Don Baker and Robbie Coltrane co-star. Martin Campbell directs a great cast into the new century of Bond films."GoldenEye" is truly the best Bond yet. Also, 'M' is now a lady and is played by Dame Judi Dench ("Mrs. Brown", "Chocolat").

Review: GoldenEye is the absolute summit for Bond filmmaking. Pierce Brosnan's debut as 007 singlehandedly revived the series, which had been without a new entry for six years prior. And then, this masterpiece exploded on to the screen. For all those who are curious about this movie, and have never seen it, here's the breakdown: Hero: James Bond, 007 (Pierce Brosnan) - Sent to investigate the theft of a prototype stealth helicopter, that leads him to the theft of a high-tech Russian EMP space weapon, called GoldenEye. Villain: Alec Traveleyan, 006 (Sean Bean) - Bond's former ally and close friend, believed killed in the opening sequence, turns out to be the son of Russian Kossacks, and the head of the Janus group, bent on destroying all electronics in London after robbing it blind. Girl: Natalya Simyonova (Izabella Scorupco) - A computer tech who survives the test of the GoldenEye weapon on it's housing facility, who is rescued from an exploding helicopter by Bond. As they search together for Treveleyan and GoldenEye, romance and longing grow between them. Bad Girl: Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen) - An agent of the Janus Group, who works as a pilot and assassin for Treveleyan. She is Bond's first lead into the Janus Group, when she tries to kill him by crushing him between her thighs. Henchmen: General Orumov (Gottfried John), a Russian traitor who steals GoldenEye, and Brois Grishenko (Alan Cumming), a computer genius recruited by Treveleyan to control GoldenEye. Bond's allies: Valentin Zukovsky (Robbie Coltrane), a former-KGB agent and former target of Bond, who sets him up with Janus, and Jack Wade (Joe Don Baker), CIA agent who aids Bond in his mission. Bond's mission takes him from the French Riviera, to St. Petersburg, Russia, to Cuba, where Treveleyan plans to signal GoldenEye using a satellite dish buried under a lake. The action/fight sequences are incredible in this movie, such as the thrilling opening airplane dive sequence, Bond's sauna encounter with Xenia, the archive escape/tank chase through St. Petersburg, and of course, the final showdown between Bond and Treveleyan at the top of the satellite cradle.
If there was one movie to start viewing the series with, this is it. One certainly not to be missed.

Summary: "The Pleasure I'm Sure Is All Mine"
Review: I was so happy that they got Pierce Brosnan as 007. He brought back the charm,the looks and the charisma that was missing from the previous two Bond films. Timothy Dalton the former James Bond just couldn't cut it. His looks could of easily put him as the villian. Brosnan also brings back the fast paced action and fight scenes that have been missing in other bond films(maybe the reason was cause he is young). Golden Eye has many memorable scenes,especially the woman villian. She kicks ass in the movie. Golden Eye is one the best top 5 Bond films ever made. They have brought Bond back from the dead and has giving the franchise a fresh start. James Bond is back!! Better than ever!

Summary: The Gold Medal!!
Review: Goldeneye is one of those films that you know, from the first second, is going to please. It is an almost perfect movie from the awesome beginning to the slow unraveling of the plot to the love interest(the Russian) to the woman villianess (Xenia Onatopp - LOVE THAT NAME and what an entrance!!!!). On top of that we get Judi Dench as the new "M" and what a great bit of casting that was! Exciting, beautiful, sexy - the return of the spy himself.

Review: brosnan's inevitable debut.
he really hasnt put much of his own stamp on the character and his portrayal is more an eclectic mix of the previous bonds.
that said, this is a fun debut.
there isnt much of a plot but theres plenty of ambience and some great character acting.
the images of the ghost like stalinesque graveyard are appopriately creepy and a not so subtle visual statement on the fall of the soviet union.
the main heroine and the main villian are a bit colorless but the two side villians (alan cummings and famke janssen) are great fun and sadly remind us that its been some time since we've seen bond villians with this much personality.
too, judi dench brings a much needed 'oomph' to the franchise and one hopes she'll be around for some time.
goldeneye seemd to promise new life to the franchise.
alas, the two sequals that followed fell flat.

Review: James Bond does it again! His stunts were awesome. Pierce's acting, and everything was awesome! I got it as a gift on DVD and of course I could not wait to see it! Heck, I'm watching it now!! This is an awesome movie..Pierse Bronson does an extraordinary job. This is better than Moonraker and Dr. No!!! I loved this movie. Trust me, you have to see it!

Summary: The Brosnan, Pierce Brosnan Era Begins!
Review: GoldenEye is one of the best Bond movies ever made! Pierce Brosnan does a great job in his first outing as 007, just as Samantha Bond as Miss Moneypenny and Judi Dench as M. Sean Bean portrays Alec Trevelyan, Agent 006, who betrays Bond and becomes his enemy. Playing the baddie seems to be Bean's specialty (i.e. Patriot Games). The Bond girls are great as well. Izabella Scorupco plays computer programmer Natalya Simonova and Famke Janssen plays sadistic femme fatale Xenia Onatopp. My favorite scene (besides the pre-credits sequence) is the tank chase through St. Petersburg. Bond driving a tank! Just great! Next to "The World Is Not Enough", "GoldenEye" is one of the best Brosnan Bond films.
