Summary: Jewel of Bond Series
Review: "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is the first 007 entry without Sean Connery, but it performs remarkably well considering his absence. That is due to a strong script and a suprising development with Bond's character. In this entry Bond is played by George Lazenby and he gives 007 equal charm, class and strength as Connery did in "Dr.No".

The story this time has Bond on leave from MI6 to pursue the head of SPECTRE; Blofeld. Bond is approached by a crime lord to marry his daughter. Strange?? You bet. What's even stranger is the relationship between Bond and the crime heiress. They're odd with eachother at first, then we see Bond really begin to appreciate her, and then we know it's love.

I don't want to give too much away only that this film is the most faithful to Ian Fleming's novels. Bond suffers a personal loss which brings the house down. Even with Lazenby's impressive debut, this premise would have been more affecting if Connery had come back for one more round. But it still works and still stands as the most poignant moment in the 007 series.

Summary: On Her Majestys Secret Service
Review: OK FRWL was great, Goldfinger was great and Thunderball w/ its Oscar was great! But this one's diffrent in one aspect and that is the love angle. And what makes a love story good is when it's tragic. What w/ Romeo & Juliet, Ghost, & lets not go too far- Ti-tanic w/c would've been only an FX movie if not for the love angle. Those who loved this movie was probably a romantic, as I am. This Bond was not only a man of action but was also a lover in the true sense of the word. The scenes and cinematography of this film were fabulous. The Swiss Alps were shot beautifully & the beach where James and Tracy first met, the reflection of the sun on the waves had a great effect on the mood. It was probably early dawn judging from the tuxedo Bond wore, he might have had a long night at the Casino. This James Bond really knew how to make an entrance. The fight scenes in this film is the best if not the best in the series. Particularly the fight scene bet-ween Bond and a tough guy in Tracy's room was great! I haven't seen a fight scene shot this well in any other James Bond film, & I've seen them all. Some people say its dragging in some parts but we have to let the story develope, it has a story you know & a good one too. This film is highly recommended, it's my favorite Bond movie. When you see this movie, keep an open mind as to your expectation of of a JB movie. You might just say at the end of the evening that you had a great time. It is good, it's very good.

Summary: Bond at it's best
Review: Lazenby is highly underrated as Bond - he is believable and he shows his feelings, reminding us that he is a normal human equipped with emotions - something that is often forgotton with all the other actors who have played Bond. The film has a pace like a James Cameron film - a fairly slow build-up, but once it gets started it doesn't stop for breath with a plethora of superb action sequences. Script is excellent, and the music score is fantastic - and with it's general dark tone and unhappy, cliff-hanger ending this feels like none of the others in the series and in my opinion is the best of them all except for From Russia With Love. Just a couple of complaints - Savalas dosen't ring true as Blofeld; he is not menacing enough (and what happened to his scar?), and the rear-projected shots which intercut the ski sequences have, alas, dated badly, and nowadays they just spoil them ever-so-slightly. Minor complaints though, and while generally opinions are divided on this film, it's still definately one to watch and judge for yourself.

Summary: The Best Bond Film
Review: Easily, as I said, the best Bond. Although Lazenby could have been better the story and directing are dramatic in addition to exciting. Some complain about the "downer" ending. If you wanna see an invincible man watch a Superman flick, if you wanna see a good action movie, this is it.

Summary: A weak 007 Movie
Review: Weak entry in the 007 series finds Bond (played unconvincely by George Lazenby) pursueing Blofeld (played with no emotion by Telly Salvalis) who wants to turn the world into his own evil playground. Diana Rigg gives a better performance as Tracy, the woman that James marries at the climax of the film, but what finally happens to her, seems cold and does nothing for an otherwise bad movie in the 007 series.

Summary: Great Bond! Too Bad Connery didn't do it?
Review: Bottom line is this: In 1968-69, Brocoli and Saltzman took a step back when they lost Sean Connery. Would this have been the best Bond had Sean Connery done it? Would they have made the same type of film had they had Sean Connery? I'm not sure they would have! Let's be honest. Had Sean done this film the way it was done with George, it would have rivaled From Russia With Love as the best Bond film (Goldfinger is not the best Bond film! ), but who knows. Is it a good Bond film? It sure is. There's only one Moore film that's even close to being in this league (For Your Eyes Only. Spy Who is just a rehash of You Only Live Twice so no vote here). I felt like this was the last Bond film to have a real gut check feel until Dalton came along. Sean or no Sean!

Summary: Lazenby Is James Bond
Review: This Bond thriller, set mainly in Switzerland, introduces a new Bond, George Lazenby, who's quite a cool dude, and the script, by Richard Maibaum, is good. The movie is exciting. It's the most dazzling of the first five. The director, Peter Hunt, looks to be a wizard at action sequences, particularly in an ethereal ski chase and a cool, very cool fast bobsled chase. Diana Rigg is a tall, amusing Mrs. Bond, and Gabriele Ferzetti is her amiable gangster-tycoon father. Ferzetti and Ilse Steppat, the indefatigable villainess, help give the picture some tone. Telly Savalas as Blofeld was the best at that time. Lazenby made an excellent James Bond.

Summary: Best Bond film is a treat on DVD!!
Review: OK, to get this out of the way: OHMSS has been my favorite Bond film for a very long time. That's not an unusual thing among avid Bond fans. I loved this movie on videotape and on television but on DVD it is even better. The film itself closely follows Fleming's novel and features great stars and some of the best action scenes ever. And though George Lazenby wasn't as polished as Connery he gave a very good performance and his fights and action were top of the line. On DVD the picture and the sound really make everything work. The Alps are beautifully photographed and they look breathtaking and exotic here. And the great sound work makes those taut action scenes really seem urgent. Those bells ringing in the escape shootout are clear and you can hear each one. Good commentary from the director and other folks though I'd have liked it to have been more tied to what was on screen at the time. Bottom line, it's a great presentation of a great film. This is the film Fleming would have wanted to see.

Summary: I hate this film!!!!!
Review: I read an Amazon review for this movie that said, "If you don't like this film, you are not a Bond fan" That is a bunch of crap. The two times I've attempted to watch this film, I dosed off!!!!! It totally destroys the Bond formula! Come on, who did they think they were kidding, Bond gets married?!?!?!?! Don't make me laugh. I thought the Bond character was supposedly a loner. In my opinion, this film should have never been made. Has anyone seen "The James Bond Story"? Even Lazenby says he hates the film. If you're a Bond fan stop kidding yourself and admit that the movie sucked, just try to shake it off........

Summary: Overrated!
Review: There is one great twist in the movie that is different than any other bond film. That is why it has been considered by many as the best bond film. The twist is good and different. If you haven't guessed yet, critics love things that are different not neccsarily entertaining. The rest of the movie was slow paced, but it had good action sceans. This is the real deal.
