Summary: Parents Beware! Not for the little ones
Review: I saw this movie with a group of children aged 4 to 12. This movie, like the first one, is marketed to entire families and we are led to believe that it is appropriate for everyone. Oh please, if you believe that I happen to have a bridge to sell you.In all fairness, this is a frenetic and inventive movie. Lots of action scenes and neat special effects. And the two kids are simply adorable. But the youngest ones in my party spent the majority of the show cowering behind the seats in front of them. And I'd have to say that the movie provides some bad influence for the older kids too. I mean, a machine that picks the kid's nose for him?? No one should see something like that (I even complained to the theater manager and got free passes!). Still a worthwhile time-passer for kids, if you are a liberal parent.

Summary: Enjoy Watching With Your Kids Together !!
Review: My kids enjoyed watching it; I enjoyed watching with my kids together too. A lot of new and funny gadgets. We have not watched the first one, but will do after. A lot of computer effects and you have to be amazed with how technology changes the movie industry. The DVD has a lot of extras and there is a special feature of director Robert Rodriquez explaining how several major scenes were shot - could be quite interesting for kids. Good value in buying the DVD. Someone in the reviews said kids movies get better every year. I totally agree. I am giving an overall rating of B+

Summary: Very Good DVD With Good Extras
Review: Others have talked about the movie itself, which is well-done, but I want to talk about the extras on the DVD. The commentary with director Robert Rodriguez is surprisingly good. Robert lays out his creative process well and also talks about how shooting digitally is going to change everything about moviemaking. The "Ten Minute Film School" short illustrates several points from the commentary and shows how to do good effects on a budget. His overall message is, "If you liked this movie, try to make one yourself! You can do it! Good luck!" I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him.

Summary: A Pleasant Suprise from Disney
Review: Disney has done it again! With brilliant, amazing space age technological advances in film processing Disney has done the immpossible by, are you ready for this?, releasing this film in Widescreen Anamorphic Format! What will the wizards of Walt's dreams come up with next? Oh, by the way Mr. Eisner, my family and I really did enjoy the film. We are looking forward to watching the DVD at home, exactly the way we saw it at the theater! Hey Mike, are you possibly getting the hint? (Snow Dogs, The Moonspinners, The Computer Wor....I guess you get the picture. Too bad we don't!)

Summary: Charming
Review: I honestly liked this movie. The first one was very funny and imaginative, so I was expecting the sequel to be, well, bad. I was wrong. It has comedy, action and adventure, heroes, and enemies (none too scary for the little children). However, like the first movie, the special effects aren't up to par with the latest Lord of the Rings movie; and the plot lines are rather thin. But how can you care when Antonio Banderas is playing the father of two spy children? So follow along with Carmen and her brother Junie as they save the world once again.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: As a fan of the first movie, I had high hopes for this one. While it turned out to be OK, that was about it. Rodriguez, who wrote and produced and directed and edited this thing, should have had someone help him trim off the fat. The biggest problem was that the Spy Kids are hardly kids any more. Carmen is now a "developing" teenager, complete with annoying boyfriend, and Juni is not a baby any more. The slapstick and brother-sister fighting that was so funny and genuine the first time around is practically non-existent here. And along with that, the kids have settled into their OSS-agent roles and now spew secret agent-speak. Adolescent kids actually speaking like this: "What is your assessment, Juni?" and "Your cloaking device is highly coveted." WHAT??? What is Carmen saying??? This stuff goes on through the WHOLE movie. I was largely clueless on the plot developments thanks to utterly confusing dialogue like that. And the techno-gear that was kind of cool in the first movie, partly because they didn't know what the heck they were doing with it, is now standard issue for the two of them, and present in EVERY scene, ad nauseum. I couldn't tell if Rodriguez was saying, "kids, learn to use your wits and don't rely on technology" when he addicted them to all these gadgets and then took them away on this island where no machines can function and the kids freak out. In the end, their phrase, "an agent is only as good as his gadgets" seems to prevail. What was the point of the exercise, then? Also in the "what was the point" category, putting talented and charismatic Ricardo Montalban in as Ingrid's father seemed like a cool idea, but went nowhere. He wound up with a bit part and did nothing interesting at all, apart from shaking hands with Antonio Banderas the way he should have in place of Anthony Hopkins in "Mask of Zorro." What a waste. Ditto the cameos by both Alan Cumming and Tony Shalhoub. Spy Kids (1) was a really fun movie and perhaps it just can't be duplicated with the kids growing up. But a good script is at least a prerequisite, and it was missing, here.

Summary: Spy Kids 2, better that the 1st
Review: As a teenager I usually don't have a thing for movies like this but I definetly liked this one. I ended up taking my little sister to see it but I ended up liking it more than her. Yes, some parts are cheesy (like when the little spy boy ballet dances with the presidents daughter), but there aren't that many moments like that. They also have 2 new characters. Gerti (who is played by Haley Joel Osments sister) is a cool gal and her brother Gary (Matt O'Leary) is gorgeous! I think that's why I liked the movie so much. He's a great actor and a major hottie! The movie itself is WAY better that the first too. The islands got some cool animals too, the "catfish" is cute but i found the "spider monkey" a little disturbing looking. If that thing was my pet I'd be a little scared! I don't want to give the movie away but DEFINETLY WATCH IT!

Review: don't know, really. I'm so glad they casted Steve Buscemi, I love that actor! He's my favorite actor, and the Spy Kids series is no doubts one of my favorites! The casting is, just so.
The first one is better, because Spy Kids is an idea were you can make 1, that's really good but 2 has sort of desperate attemps, then 3 is entertaning but sort of dry, then no one comes to see 4. But I have some advice, keep Buscemi, the Ramono guy! Then every one will see them, even adults, trust me. He does some some R movies that adults like to see, I don't know, I can't see R. But if you liked number 1, see this one.

Summary: I've Never Seen the First One, and I Hope I Never Do!
Review: This was the worst movie I saw during the Summer of 2002, and it had to be at a drive-in movie! This movie actually started out fine, and the plot was okay, but nothing can make up for the awful acting in this film. The kids were as good as they could have been with the script-at-hand, and the adults were much worse, especially their parents played concoctedly and horribly by Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino. Some little kids may like this movie, and maybe even some adults. Oh well, I can't explain why, but people do seem to. All in all, this movie simply was a bad movie overflowing with bad acting and an okay plot that doesn't make up for any flaws in the end. One good thing-the film isn't long at all, it's quite short. One final bad thing too, however-Alexa Vega finishes up the film with a horrible little song about the movie. You will definitely want to skip past this, whether you liked the film or not.
