Summary: Never Say Never Again is a Bond film.
Review: Never Say Never Again is essentially a remake of Thunderball. Same story line, cast names (mostly), same basic idea. Except truly the films are totally different. Connery returns as James Bond for the finally time, and with him he brought a film which has been widely criticized as being a bad example for a James Bond film. How can you have a James Bond film without a James Bond Theme or an opening gun barrel? They could at least have had an opening cross hair or a pre-title sequence. When you look at it, many consider it an action film starring Sean Connery, whose name happens to be James Bond. Never Say Never Again is an interesting film to see, unfortunately, currently, those who haven't seen it probably won't.

The history of the film goes back to the 1950's when Bond author Ian Fleming teamed up with Kevin McClory to work on a screenplay. The screenplay never fell through, so Ian Fleming took the ideas from the screenplay and wrote the novel Thunderball. Kevin McClory saw a version of the novel, sued and eventually won the rights to the book. McClory then teamed up with Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman to produce the film Thunderball. The terms would be that McClory would give up his rights for 10 years and he would then be allowed to remake the film. 18 years later Never Say Never Again was born

So that is why Never Say Never Again is like that. Why it is so different from the other Bond films. 007 fans are split in half when it comes to accepting or not accepting it in the Bond family. The future of Never Say Never Again lies in the hands of MGM now. So it is up to them weather or not it will ever see the light of day Again.

I ask that MGM strongly look into re-releasing this title. What better way to get back at McClory then to make money off of something he fought so hard to make.

Also Kevin McClory I think you should put to rest your future Bond plans. You had your chance to make a Bond film, you did it, its over. Stop fighting so hard and enjoy the Bond films that are coming out.

Come on re-release this title.

Summary: The Best Bond Ever Made!
Review: I don't consider NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN as a remake of THUNDERBALL., This movie not at all represent #4(T)in the bond series. It is instead an excelent return of Connery to the role of James Bond in a unique, great Bond adventure...The Best Bond Ever!

Summary: Welcome back, Mr Bond!
Review: Not the best Bond film made and perhaps offering a storyline made too familiar by the long-winded 1965 entry "Thunderball" but nontheless an acceptable piece of entertainment. The lack of the "gun barrel" sequence and the bond theme maybe a turnoff for some Bond fans but surely it is possible to step outside the "Bond comfort zone" and appreciate this movie for what it is - a return to the roots of the Bond series: Connery as Bond (no clowns or cardboard figures in the lead role in this movie); menacing villains with a truly ruthless and evil streak (since 1973 and upto 1997 how many Bond villains have fitted this mould??); the return of SPECTRE and it's No.1, Blofeld; absence of a multi-million dollar storyline that relies on a plethora of explosions, stunts and big sets to deliver the predictable thrills to an audience long addicted to this recipe. No, instead Bond relies on his guile and wits to win the day (eg the showdown with Fatima), simple but ingenious and gadgets (eg. the laser watch and motorbike), and a lot of luck (in the best tradition of Bond films) There are surprising twists in the plot (the opening sequence involving a simulation exercise), stunts that are done well (the breathtaking jump form the castle - who expected that one??). Most of all, though, the storyline is beleivable (no locations in outer space in this storyline), and the characters once again have SUBSTANCE - the bureaucratic and bungling M, the seductively lethal Fatima, Felix L., Blofeld.... etc., and of course Bond himself. Maybe he's an ageing Bond past his prime and on his last case(a rather melancholic ingredient for the many original Bond fans) but he at least realises he's reached the end and should bow out gracefully. Sadly, the same can't be said about the Bond series which staggers on from one lame and predictable offering to another, all the time competing against classier movie series (T2, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, etc.)

Summary: Connery returns in this action-packed thriller!!!
Review: Sean Connery is back and better then ever in this remake of the 60's Classic "Thunderball." Bond returns to his old tricks when the sinister world terrorism organization "S.P.E.C.T.R.E" plots to steal two nuclear missiles from a U.S. Air Force base with the help of a corrupt servicemen, Captain Jack Petacee. The evil Number Two, Maximillan Largo, has had a love affair with Petacee's sister, Domino (Kim Basinger)and Largo uses Domino as an asset to ensure Petacee's defection to S.P.E.C.T.R.E's ways. After the missiles are safely in Largo's hands, Petacee is elimated by Largo's seductive henchwomen, Fantimo Blosh(Carrera). Bond then travels to the South of France to inform Domino of her brother's death and Domino then helps Bond save the world! The unforgetable conclusion ends in the Middle East as Bond and members of the CIA take on Largo's men in an underwater battle! The movie is filmed all over the world from the shores of the Bahamas to the sands of North Africa. This movie ranks as truly one for the ages; please Sean, "Never Say Never Again!"

Summary: just like THUNDERBALL
Review: As soon as the movie started i knew it was just like a remake of the movie thunderball.I say the best part of the movie was the motorcycle chase and the gadgets on the bike.I personally disliked the movie vary much.Even though Sean Connery was the best Bond the charactor he played as Bond was a little boring even "M" was boring and his doubt in OO7.I didn't even like that the tradional "Q" was replaced in this one movie. As usual Bond saved the day but it was a boring save of the day.To sum it all up this movie was dull i fell asleep during half of it because i knew what it would turn out like because i own the movie Thunderball. Not many gadgets in this movie except for the motorcycle. In parts of the movie that i saw it looked like OO7 was loosing his suave touch.

Summary: Pedestrian remake of "Thunderball"
Review: Twelve years after his second swan song as Bond in "Diamonds Are Forever" ("You Only Live Twice" was swan song #1), Sean Connery looks fit and formidable, but, sadly, "Never Say Never Again" is no match. One wishes Connery had taken the title to heart. A pedestrian and unnecessary remake of "Thunderball," this film improves on the original in only one respect: Sexy Barbara Carrera completely blows Lucianna Paluzzi, the villainess of the earlier film, out of the water. Otherwise, there are times when this film resembles an installment in "The Pink Panther" series more than a Bond film. Like 1967's "Casino Royale," this one was made outside of the official series produced by Albert R. Broccoli, and the trademarks associated with the authentic 007, most notably "The James Bond Theme" and the music of John Barry, are sorely missed.

Summary: A good action flick starring "THE" James Bond.
Review: As a Bond "freak", I'll watch (almost) any 007 flick once. Although NEVER is an obvious remake of THUNDERBALL, how can anyone miss seeing Sean Connery one last {?} time in the role he perfected. As always, the Bond girls are delicious, and the villans are , well, really nasty {I think I dated Fatima Blush in a previous lifetime}.My only regret is that the video is not currently available; with a copy Ireally could NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great to see Sean back in action...the openning kicks butt!
Review: It's really a shame this video is not in stock...many Bond fans have never gotten to see Never Say Never Again...Maybe we get Sean back for Cold-Fall ...an "older" Bond would be fine... anyway, see Never again!!
