Summary: Quintessential dramatization of the cold fusion saga
Review: This fascinating and well-acted movie truly shines considering the theme that it's dealing with. One of the primary reasons that the research of cold fusion met with so much resonance in the world was the tremendous impact that it would have produced on our lives if proven true and successfully managed. The Saint is a humorous example of such overexcited attitude toward a scientific investigation. Like in real life, this kind of attitude actually hinders scientific progress. In addition, there is a lot of good humor about Russian life and very accurate depictions of hero/villain stereotypes.

Summary: Chemistry Explosion
Review: This movie is, indeed, improbable, but the chemistry between Shue and Kilmer is electrifying. Glorious soundtrack -- especially the love theme.

Summary: A fun, smart film that might be right for the whole family.
Review: In a cynical world, it's a joy to see that someone can still craft a fun, smart action film without endless strings of expletives and oceans of blood, while simultaneously avoiding the happy-happy-joy-joy cheesyness that often results. The Saint is that film.

With a delightful performance by Kilmer as the multi-personality-ed Simon Templar, and Elisabeth Shue as a scientist who has perfected cold fusion, The Saint is part James Bond, part Mission Impossible and all enjoyable.

Shue's character has developed a stable matrix for acheiving cold fusion. Templar, played by Kilmer, is an international thief who has been hired by a foreign power to steal the secret to cold fusion from her. Telling much more would ruin much of the fun in the story. Suffice to say that the thievery isn't as simple as others have seemingly been for Templar, whose emotional involvement with his target is only further complicated by his growing moral awareness of his actions.

Of interest to families: While the content of The Saint is largely of an adult nature, the entire film could be shown unedited on network television. There is a complete lack of nudity and bad language (save for a quick reference to a fatherless child-in the proper context, no less), and though there are violent actions in the film, there is only one death, and that occurs by accident.

The Saint offers a nice, taught story peopled by interesting and relatively complex characters who don't necessarily always do what you'd expect. It's a hard film to resist, and one certainly worth adding to your permanent collection.

Summary: clever modern prequel
Review: The folks who made this flick deserve credit. They cleverly decided to create a modern prequel to the classic character of The Saint. They didn't just ditch the character and steal the name. This isn't I SPY folks. This film IS The Saint. The modern prequel approach let them introduce a whole new audience to The Saint, but it also gave established Saint fans (like me) a rare glimpse at a part of Simon's life that I'd been wondering about for years: just how he got to be The Saint.
This is a great film!

Summary: you wont need the patience of a saint...this is GREAT
Review: I have no complaints at all about this version of The Saint.
I grew up listening to The Saint on radio and reading about him. This film version doesn't do the character any harm. It tells the tale of his early days. On second thought I do have ONE complaint...where's the sequel?

Summary: BRING ON THE SEQUEL!
Review: Definitely a great movie, The Saint, brings to the screen the (familiar to many) story of the "man with the many faces," in an adventure that will take him to some pretty exciting locations including England and Russia.
The film combines humor, action and adventure making it one of the best of its kind.
Needless to say, Val Kilmer, Elisabeth Shue, and the rest of the cast have truly outdone themselves with their performances, which are outstanding to say the least! All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows (the chemistry is AMAZING)!
The setting, the dialogues, the special effects, and the music are all wonderful!
In short, it is a movie definitely worth watching and one to seriously consider adding to your movie collection!

Review: Not a classic but well worth watching over again.
I had forgotten the whole jist of the story.
Thoroughly amused by all of the disguises
Elizabeth Shue was most excellent -
Val kept you guessing [not like the JACKEL, with Bruce Willis but still good]
Great addition to the collection of memorable characters.
