Summary: Fun, Fast paced, and Interesting
Review: This movie is a remake of the 80s Richard Chamberlain movie. The original movie protrays a secret agent injuried in a gun fight, out on the ocean. In the movie, Bourne fails to kill his target, in cold blood, inhibit because the target has a family, and he can't kill the target, infront of the target's family; and as a result Bourne takes two slugs, in the back, as he leaves. An Italian ship discovers him and nurses Bourne back to health. A chip is discovered in Bournes hip. Bourne realizes he has lost memory, but can read navigational maps and speak multiple languages. The chip is thought to contain a bank number in Zurich. In the book, Bourne takes months to recover from his injuries. Also, Bourne has surgery to repair facial disfigurations. In the movie, CIA Conklin (Chris Cooper) is in charge of the secret organization (Threadstone). Bourne goes offline and is assumed dead. In the book, Bourne thinks he is the assassin, Carlos also known as the Jackal. No one knows the identity of the Jackal. The Jackal always works through others to complete his kills. The Threadstone operation was designed to draw the Jackal, out in the open, through the media. Bournes identity lost combined with confusion and lost of memory threatened to ruin the threadstone operation. In the movie, Bourne is thought of as an defective agent. Conklin considers Bourne the target. Conklin easier eliminates Bourne's original target and proceeds to activate other agents to kill Bourne. Conklin was all the operative activate. Bourne is the "Enemy of the State". In the Movie, Bourne uses the bank number to gain access to an exclusive account. A container is delivered to Bourne. It contains multiple currencies, passports, and a phone number to his residence in Paris. All the contents go into a red back pack. Bournes arrival notifies Conklin that Bourne is not dead, but defective. In the book, Bourne kidnaps Maria (Franka Portente) while attempting to escape. Maria is a smart American Financial individual. Maria endears herself to Bourne, convincing him he is not the Jackal. Bourne trusts her. Maria escapes from Bourne and goes to notify the authorities, but as things go wrong, Bourne rescues her. They eventual fall inlove with each other. In the movie, the senator and Cronklin don't communicate. Cronklin is carrying out secret objectives. The Senator only knows that enemies disappear, he doesn't know how or when. Cronklin is using high tech government resources to find Bourne. The survelliance leads them to Bournes apartment; where a vicious fight scene emerges. Choke holds, bone cracking elbow smashes, rapid hand strikes, slashing knifes, a pen embedding into the operatives hand, and a powerful side kick high light the fight scenes. The second lead, converges the second operative towards Maria brother's resides. Bourne uses distraction to kill the operative: a exploding fuel tank, a flurry of birds, and three shot gun blast to the operatives chest; all the time Bourne never even breaks a sweat. Bourne is a calm killer. The operative actually has respect for Bourne, as he dies. The movie uses fast paced action to tie the scenes together. For example, the car chase involves an incredible series of car crashes, flips, and slids. It world class stunt performance. The chase involves avoiding jumping and running pedestrians, motorcycle slides, a small British car going done a series of steps, spinning and weaving into one coming traffic. The movie has sexual content. Maria relationship with Bourne is sexual. She is attracted to him and in the bathroom scene, she decides to engage. Its about sex rather than relationship, in the movie. Maria decides its safer to be with Bourne than on her own. Conklin uses survellience to identify Maria as the driver. Cronklin use media to draw attention to Bourne and Maria. The police are manipulated to flush Bourne out. In a sense, she a willing captive, but the directors make sure that story line leaves her no room, to escape. Bourne allows her to make the choice of staying or leaving before the car chase scene. Maria decides to stay with Bourne. His confidence in his ability make him reckless. He realizes his self-centeredness, as he risks Maria's brother's family and Maria life. Maria will escape, move to a distant country, and start a small business with the money Bourne provided. Bourne will find her and they'll live happily ever after. In the book, Maria falls in love with Bourne. Maria is convinced that Bourne is to kind and loving to be the Jackal. Maria helps Bourne discover ThreadStone, and make the connection back to David Abbot. In the book, Threadstone and David Abbot work with Bourne to corner Carlos. Carlos kills Abbot in a cemetry, and in the last scene confronts Bourne in Abbot's home. Bourne kills Abbot. In the movie, Bourne uses his training tactics the Conklin has used on him in reverse. Bourne discovers Conklins place of operation in Paris and corners Conklin. Conklin is beat up but not killed. The Senator is determined to shut down the operation. In order for the operation to come to a close, the he has Conklin killed by his own operative.

Summary: One of the best films of the year!
Review: It's nice to see a spy movie that actually has some intelligence behind it, and not just big explosions, and fancy gadgets (nothing wrong with either!) Sure the amnesia plot line might be cliché, but it's done very well. Matt Damon is a good actor, with an ability to handle some seemingly different roles, and making them believable, and likeable. The movie keeps you interested and engaged, with only a little silliness, at times. Franka Potente is a very fine discovery, as she and Matt have very good chemistry together. The car chase scene in this movie ranks among the very best of all time! What is it about European settings that make car chase scenes so awesome (such as in Ronin!) Matt is believable enough in the fight scenes, and the action has a nice pace to it that keeps things interesting. Not having read the book, I am able to enjoy the movie for what it is: a smart and interesting spy movie. Having read the other reviews, apparently the movie producers did more slicing and dicing to the original novel than a chef at Benihana's. Having seen the book in stores for years, and always passing it up for one reason or another, this movie, along with those previous reviews, has given me the desire to pick it up on my next trip to the bookstore. The only other comment I have is why is there such a lag between the dvd release dates of this movie, and The Sum Of All Fears, which were only released a week or two apart in the theaters? Obviously TSOAF was a bigger budget movie, but this was a much better movie! Anyway, my copy of the dvd has been pre-ordered, and it will enter my dvd player the second it's delivered to my door! This movie rates 4½ stars.

Summary: Great Movie, now when can I buy it?
Review: I loved this movie. I thought it was great, however, I want to get it on Dvd but Amazon.com doesnt even have a pre-order page for the DVD up yet, meaning that the studio hasnt even announced a release yet. This bothers me, it bothers me because I know that they are delaying for the holiday season. Grrr! The movie came out in June and most movies that came out that month are on dvd or at least we are being told when they will come out. But not this one. Jeez hurry up!

Review: Very intense action scences backed up with subtle humor through the whole thing, it's a great movie.
I went and didn't expect to much and was pleasently suprised by the whole outcome, It's serious, funny, and filmed in a beautiful country!
And if it has Franka in it, you knows it's gonna be good!

Summary: The Bourne Identity-Born to be Good
Review: In this suspense, action thriller, Matt Damon tries something a bit new as well as original. He stars as a CIA operative named Jason Bourne, and on this journey he becomes amnesiac and no recollection of anything. His past, his job and even his name. He suddenly meets a mysterious character, played by gorgeous Franka Potente, who helps and assists him with his duties (yeah right) more like pleasure him. Anyway, on a secret mission, Bourne's boss played by Chris Cooper decides to have Bourne killed, due to his failing of the mission which he was suppose to have completed successfully. From here we get nail-biting action, with amazing stunts and fighting sequenes. Bourne is an expert and martial arts and quite a master at being a cunning linguist. The plot is great and actually involves some thought. Based on the bestseller by Robert Lindum and directed by Doug Liman. This film is worthwhile and is worth the 5 dollars you use in order to buy a movie ticket. Quite fascinating, this film is not abysmal, but does get a bit too violent for some atleast. The Bourne Identity is rated PG-13 for Violence and Some Language. So a decent choice for preteens.

Summary: The Perfect Movie
Review: I don't think a more perfect movie was released this year. The Bourne Identity has something for everyone; a dynamic plot and the VERY sexy Matt Damon, and lots of action for the men. The chase scene could not have been better. It used a car that real people own, and did what the car would do in that situation... Bring on the sequal!!

Summary: Premise Works
Review: Damon does good job of making his CIA superagent hard-nosed, yet emotional, and most of all believable. No he's not Bond, or Vin Diesel in XXX, but Damon comes through as true and real and likeable, as trained CIA agent losing memory, trying to find out who he is, while showing off his secret agent skills. Kinda like that movie "The Professional". One of the reasons Ludlum's books were so popular, was that his main character was always human, typically with some personal or emotional challenge. This human nature set against the backdrop of CIA and counter-intelligence, made for good entertainment. The movie does the same job admirably, go see it if you can.

Summary: nothing like the book - ok for a hollywood movie
Review: As just any other hollywood movie with guns, car chases, and explosions....this movie was OK. The acting was decent and the writing was bland but not embarrasing. But if you liked the book, and were hoping for something better than the mini-series that was on TV some years AGO - stay away from this movie. I am not one of those people who always likes the book better than the movie and complains when seeing a book on-screen. (The only issue that I had with Lord of the Rings was that I could not help but see Agent Smith in Elrond.) But this movie cuts away - not just scenes of the lengthy book - but numerous major characters, so that the fundamental plotline and character motivation are something entirely different. I won't give away details here - but this is a different story. And I don't really mind different, as long as it is replaced with something intelligent as opposed to something unnecessarily formulaic. Sadly, all traces of what made the original so good and exciting are gone, and we are left to watch "yet another".

Summary: Fast-Paced and Entertaining!
Review: Adapted from Author Robert Ludlum's novel of the same name, The Bourne Identity stars Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, who, as the film opens, is found floating in the middle of the ocean, and is picked up by a fishing crew. He's been shot twice in the back, and has a strange device implanted in his hip, a laser-pointerish thingy that shows a swiss bank account number. When Bourne awakens, we get that old movie cliche....AMNESIA!!! (Cliched, yes, but it works here.) The movie follows Bourne's efforts to not only uncover his identity, but also find out why so many people are trying to kill him. The movie is pretty long, but the brisk action scenes and snappy plot keep things moving. Director Doug Limon does a good job, and the cast is excellent, especially Chris Cooper (As Bourne's slimy boss), and the original Hannibal Lector, Brian Cox, who adds gravitas to every film he's in, even if it is a small role. Two problems- Matt Damon's fight scenes are sped up almost to the point of distraction. I appreciate the fact that Bourne is supposed to be a step above everyone else, but the fights just looked....off somehow. And I hope Julia Stiles has some heavy-duty "Deleted Scenes" on the DVD, because otherwise it just seemed like unnecessary stunt-casting to have her here at all. Her character just adds more time to an already long movie. I'm not usually the biggest spy-movie fan, but The Bourne Identity had me hooked from start to finish.

Summary: It's as real as it gets.
Review: This is about the best of the best in the "underworld". This may not follow a book 100%, but it follows reality real well. It could happen. It has real people actions. Surperb. I've seen it three times, so far. I go to the movies on average once a week. This is one to own. Matt Damon is an excellent actor and helps make this a hit.
