Summary: Wait... Did I miss something?
Review: Truth be told, I was completely excited to see this movie. After watching the riveting previews, I bought the book to read before hand. Wow! the book was fantastic! But getting to my point. This movie feels like one long preview. There's some epic on your seat chase scenes, and heart warming reunions, but you keep thinkin gto yourself, wait, did I miss something? this can't be the actual movie right? it seems Matt Damon, (giving the best performance he could do with this minimal plot) runs around the whole movie, and can't figure out what the point was. This is nothing like the book, and you're most likely going to be better off reading it than seeing the movie. If you are like me, you will finish it staring blankly at the screen, and saying:
Huh?
Your better off watching the preview, it just about explains the whole movie.

Summary: There is one good thing about this movie
Review: At least they waited till Ludlum was dead before releasing this movie. To see a story with struggling vivid characters ripped into a dull puppet play. Well the two stories had amnesia, Jason Bourne, and the continent of Europe in common. Otherwise the story is incredibly sad. If you'd like to see a glimpse of what this movie should be then rent The Bourne Identity with Richard Chamberlain. It at least tells a story worth actually telling. Oh and if you have trouble finding it that's probably because the Bourne Identity is a drama not an action story.

Summary: What The Heck
Review: All I can say is if you read the book DO NOT watch the movie -- you will not only be disappointed, but possibly mad. If I would have paid money to see this at the movies I would have demanded a refund.

The powers that be should be ashamed about this movie and due to their guilt make a new movie BASED on the book.

AND

Jason is not a blonde hair pretty boy. His big thing is how he can blend into a crowd.

Summary: The book is better, but this movie is not bad at all
Review: Good acting, script, editing. Matt Damon looks a bit too short and skinny and too young for being the seasoned Jason Bourne. Pretty tensified and more modernized story by comparing to the old version played by Ridchard Chamberland. In general, not a bad movie and quite watchable.

Summary: Good but not as good as the miniseries
Review: The Bourne Identity with Matt Damon is okay but it pales in comparison to the original miniseries with Richard Chamberlin. It is almost as if the two movies aren't telling the same story. The story is not as well developed and isn't as true Ludlum's novel. There isn't enough character development and the movie short cuts the travel, and intrigue generated by the miniseries.

Summary: "The Bourne Identity" is a breath of fresh air!
Review: If you read the book and liked it, get this movie!! The book and the movie are different, but, I can count on one hand the number of movies that followed the book. With that said, this movie is one of the better spy movies. There are 2 people that have no idea what will happen next: Jason Bourne and YOU. The storyline is good, and the action is wonderful.

A good job was done on the transfer and the sound, in DTS, really makes this movie come alive. All the extras are there: Director's comments, The Making of, and subtitles, etc..

It will be money well spent, as you will watch this movie many, many times.

Summary: Ah.. To Be Bourne Free
Review: Based on Robert Ludlum's best selling novel of the same name, the film adaptation, is not at all what I expected. I have not read the book, but I am familar with (and am a fan of) the film work of director Doug Liman, therefore I was rather interested to see how his first real action flick would turn out. Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is rescued at sea by an Italian fishing boat, with a few bullets in his back, and unconscious. Once they are removed, he awakens, only to discover that he has lost his memory, and doesn't know who he is. As he tries to figure out the events that caused him to end up out at sea, he ends up in Switzerland, and is being pursued by assasins, who want him dead. As it turns out, he is an agent for the CIA, and once his boss,Conklin (Chris Cooper) discovers his whereabouts, he wants him back for his own reasons. On the run, Bourne enlists a reluctant (at first) woman, Marie (Franka Potente), to help him. He gives her lots of cash in exchange for her help. The pair eventually fall in love.

I found the film to have its fair share of problems. The film is very slow to get started. It takes a good 35 minutes or more before anything really happens. The car chase in the film has been compared to that of the one featured in the FRENCH CONNECTION. Quite frankly, I didn't find the chase all that exciting or as ground-breaking as the one from "Connection", and I've seen better car stuff in many of the Bond films. As for the other stunts, here's one stunt involving a staircase that is rather inventive, that appears late in the movie but by then it's too late. I guess since his buddy Ben Affleck is the latest Jack Ryan, and the comic book hero Daredevil, Damon wanted to get in on the action, as well. I don't know if that was such a good idea. I had a hard time buying into the whole deal of Damon as an action star. Another problem that I had, was that there was little to no chemistry between Damon and Potente, and the "romance" is therefore flat. As far as the hand to hand fight sequences...this is another flick, that attempt to rip off THE MATRIX?? C'mon, these 2 films are like apples and oranges, so why even go that route anyway?

The "Collector's Edition" DVD has a handful of so-so extras. The commentary track from director Doug Liman is pretty good. The 4 deleted scenes don't offer anything new to the film and were wisely left on the cutting room floor. The "exclusive" alternate ending is rather anti-climactic, and predictable. At least the theatrical ending has a bit more punch to it. The behind the scenes feturette is 14 minutes of "fluff" that is nothing more than an electronic press kit, better known as an EPK.. For those of you with a DVD-ROM drive on your PC, there are additional multimedia bonus materials on the disc, as part of Universal's Total Axcess program. More extras via TA are promised in the future. Production notes, filmographies, a Moby music video for his song "Extreme Ways" from the film's soundtrack, and the theatrical trailer round out the extras

Slow to get going. the film goes nowhere, and fast. and the extras are ok...at best A major disappointment. The Bourne Identity DVD is only watchable if you have insomnia and need to catch up on some sleep. * and a half stars

Summary: Different from the book but still great!
Review: You know most of time you read a book and then they make it into a movie and even if they stay very true to the story, you walk away feeling a little disapointed. Not the case with this movie. Even though they changed quite a bit about the story, it really works with the cast and the action and the updated setting. You could see where they wanted to make his character not as ruthless and more likeable but still very effective against the bad guys. I really liked Matt Damon in this role and Franka Potente gave the character a really quirky, real person feel. I don't get to see many movies in the theater, but this was one that was definitely worth the money. I can't wait for it to come out next week on dvd!
