Summary: Excellent!
Review: This was a great movie. Yes, it may be sad but it's just how reality is. This really exemplified how the perfect storm was on October 1991 when it occurred. These actors were magnificent because they made us picture how it might have been for the crew who went through the perfect storm and it felt like as if they were actually there trying to battle the storm. I recommend this movie for anyone who just wants a thriller.

Summary: A bit kitchy, but in all - a pretty good movie
Review: The movie itself is a bit over done and kitchy, but the special effects are just wonderful (even though after watching the director's commentary, I could 'see' how a few were created on the soundstage).

The best part of the DVD is that there are 3 audio commentaries on it, all very intefersting. Unlike other movies who boast a few commentaries, but each is done by a different combination of actors, in this case all of them are widely varied sources - special effects people, the director, and the journalist who originally researched this issue.

Summary: Do not miss this!!!!
Review: A movie that will keep your interest from start to finish.

Basically a story about a no-luck fishing boat, it's Captain, and crew members. Also sub-plots are thrown in to spice up one long drawn out story.

It is just a story of people trying to make it in life, like all of us do everyday, with the backdrop of an impending hurricane.

Mary Mastratonio steals the show in one of the final scenes. The movie is worth watching just for this. Do not miss this movie. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!
Review: I was totally blown away by this motion picture experience! I didn't expect to be at all. But I found The Perfect Storm to be very nearly The Perfect Movie! I truly enjoyed every second of this fine production! I thought the writing was very good here, especially the way each character was somewhat fully developed before they make that fateful last fishing excursion. The writers have made me care for each person in this script, which makes the tragic end all the more powerful and emotional. I felt that I lost some people I in some way knew. And George Clooney was simply magnificent in his role as the ship's skipper! Plus, as a sidebar to the main story involving Clooney's fishing vessel, two other exciting rescue missions are on tap, adding to the non-stop tidal wave of intense action during the final 40% of the film! Applause all around for everyone involved in the making of this superlative piece of entertainment!

Summary: Worst movie I've seen in a very long time
Review: Worst movie I've seen in a very long time. I mean this was "Ghost" bad.
The only joy I got out of this thing was the the badly forced New England accents.
And Diane Lane seemed more like Marky Mark's mom than wife.

Summary: STIRRING DESPITE WEAK SCRIPT!
Review: The title for my review basically says it all. The film, which is very stirring, has a few scenes that feel like I watched them in a TV movie. The story of the rescue crews was exciting, and the scenes of people anxiously awaiting the return of loved ones were emotional, and the visual effects were incredible. But the main story, that of the crew of the fishing boat "Andrea Gail," as Alec Baldwin put it in an article in a PEARL HARBOR movie magazine, seems to "mythologize and make the characters more heroic than they really were." Even though I don't doubt their bravery, based on the job they had, even I wouldn't be stupid enough to try to make it home through a storm THAT enormous. I still can't believe that this film, which grossed $183 Million at the box office, beat THE PATRIOT ($113 Million), my FAVORITE film of all time. Despite it's many flaws, this film does honor the crew of the "Andrea Gail," and the U.S. Coast Guard. And the moral of the story: If you try to fight the sea, you most likely will not win. Grade: B-

Summary: Perfect Storm Sewer
Review: ..., was this film ..., apart from the big wave. The dialogue was pure rubbish, the acting pure rubbish, a total waste of time. Just fast-forward to the wave, get your kicks and don't waste any of your limited life on this, eh, film. I hated this film so badly I nearly missed watching a good Clooney film, Oh Brother! Where Art Thou?

Summary: Perfect Storm will Blow You Away!
Review: Based on Sebastian Junger's international best-seller, The Perfect Storm fatihfully recounts the gripping true story of the the "Storm of the Century" -- a mammoth Nor'easter that devistated coastal New England in the autumn of 1991. Wolfgang Peterson crafts a heart-wrenching journey through the eye of the storm with state of the art special effects and strong performances from an experienced cast. At the heart of the tale is the Andrea Gale, a commercial swordfish boat out of Gloucester, MA. The audience is introduced to the harsh conditions and consequences of a life at sea as the tiny boat and her crew sail off for the Grand Banks fishing grounds east of Nova Scotia just as the winds of October begin to blow. After a slow start, the boat's captain Billy Tyne (played by George Clooney) decides to head even further east to the Flemmish Cap -- a feeding ground for the fish in the middle of the north Atlantic. With her holds full, she heads home but standing in her path is a storm of monsterous porportions that threatens not only the Andrea Gale but any vessel caught in her wake. Many have decried the film for it's high-salaried cast and non-Hollywood ending, but one must remember that these events (though accentuated for dramatic effect) actually occured. The film is not merely a special effects showcase meant to wow the audience; it is a faithful and fitting tribute to those who bravely faced the Perfect Storm and suffered the tragic consequences. The Perfect Storm is a sea-going thriller of the highest order and will reaffirm a faith in everyday heroes.

Summary: Perfect Bore
Review: The 1st part of the movie is too slow. By the time the storm hit, I didn't care if the characters made it or not. The character development was almost non-existent, they could have used cardboard cutouts instead of real actors. The early part of the movie reminded me of Armageddon in the way that it tried to give a glimpse of the characters everyday home life. I feel that both movies failed miserably, with The Perfect Storm being the worse of the two.
I would only rate this movie 1 star, except for the very nice 5.1 channel surround sound. If you want a movie to show off your home theatre system, this one will do a good job. However, if you want a good movie to go along with the surround sound try The Matrix, or T2.
