Rating: Summary: Really Well Done Review: This movie is a lot like Speed. It has the same writer so that is understandable. The main character is after 3 million dollars that an armored truck has with them but the thing is, he's after it in a flood. He will never stop until he gets the money. The story is very well done, one thing after the next just keeps popping up, problems etc. A must see for any thrill addicts.
Rating: Summary: Ace Action Review: This movie made me drool at the cinema. The action scenes are incredible and this movie is very well made. The bouncing, shaking, wobbling camera was very impressive on the big screen. And the music was just totally awesome too. Randy Quaid and Morgan Freeman were very good in this film although I don't think Minnie Driver was good at an American accent. Don't be to hard on this film. It wasn't made to move CITIZEN KANE off its throne. Christopher Young's score is hugely action packed and very loud throughout the film. The film was originally called THE FLOOD and had numerous other characters in it and had many daylight scenes. But because of an abundance of disaster movies at the time it was reshot as an action movie that was set totally at night. And practically in real time too. The DVD is in Dolby 5.1 and is letterboxed at 2.30:1.
Rating: Summary: Great action movie, great DVD. Review: This movie made me drool at the cinema. The action scenes are incredible. The director uses a bouncing, wobbling and shaking camera to brilliant effect and Christopher Young's music is hugely action packed and very loud throughout the film. DVD does this film a lot of justice. Do yourself a favor and buy it. NOW!
Rating: Summary: AN ACTION THRILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This movie succeeds in many ways to keep the viewer interested. It might be the action or it might be the special effects. Whichever the case may be- it does keep us interested!!!!! Quite a bit unbelievable, but still interesting, the movie will please just about any action movie fan!!! I just recently viewed this movie and it's been out for about 5 years, but I was impressed with it's story and with it's action. It could be classified as a disaster film, but that's not all. It falls into the action/adventure category also. So if you like those types of movies- then see it!!! You will not be dissapointed!!!! This movie also showcases the talents of Christian Slater and Morgan Freeman. Aside from that, it is a WET movie with a lot of HARD RAIN!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Would Have Been Good... Review: This movie was "alright". The action was top-notch and building an entire city set and then submerging it under water is impressive, BUT the movie simply had NO story-line what-so-ever. No character development at all. The moive goes a little like this: Here are the characters, this is what they're gonna do, now enjoy. The only reason I gave 2 stars is for the action and I have a thing about rain. Don't ask. ;-)
Rating: Summary: Would you believe it? Review: This movie was shot during heavy rain, floods and in a town with 57 buildings (some 6 stories tall). The amazing thing about this movie is the fact that it was shot "indoors". Nobody who sees this movie will believe it was an indoor set. The set was the Boeing aircraft hanger which had earlier been used to assemble the B-1B bomber in Palmdale California. This makes the set and visual effects beyond belief. At the time, it was the largest indoor movie set in history (might still be). The back drop (the painted mural used as the background) and the size of of water tank were also the largest in the world. The back drop was 72 feet tall and 1960 feet long, making it the largest mural painted in history. The water tank was 600 feet long and 250 feet wide and held 5 million gallons of water. I was involved in renting this building to Paramount studios and still can't believe what they were able to do in our aircraft hanger. Although the story is less than perfect, I defy anyone who sees this movie to find a flaw in the set or special effects.
Rating: Summary: Surprised by this one! Review: Very entertaining film. It comes up with some clever scenes of men fighting to stay alive from rising water levels and bullits. It has a good story with good lines, but misses the mark because of the way it was delivered. Oh well, the SFX make up for that.
Rating: Summary: Hard Rain, Somebody Needs Arnold! Review: Weather forecast: rain. Action forecast: Hard Rain, the torrential, excitement-swept thriller featuring a screenplay from the writer of Speed and the on-screen talents of Morgan Freeman, Christian Slater, Randy Quaid and Minnie Driver. The setting is the flood-ravaged, evacuated town of Huntingburg, where armored car driver Tom (Slater) is in deep danger. A gang of thieves (led by Freeman) figures the flood is the chance to heist the $3 million Tom's transporting from local banks. But there's one thing the gun-carrying criminals don't count on - Tom. Come hell, high water or both, he's determined to deliver the money entrusted to him. But before he does, he'll have to survive a relentless pursuit filled with close calls, ever-rising water, uncertain loyalties and heart-stopping heroics.
Rating: Summary: how about that MORGAN FREEMAN?? such a good actor Review: well, when my family started to watch this movie i really didn't want to see it because this isn't my type of movie. i usually like romantic stuff. but i stayed and watched it and i'm so glad i did. first of all, i just loved how everything came together one piece at a time. and second, morgan freeman played his part so well. he is good in whatever he plays. not all actors are like that...for instance rosi perez...she couldn't play a part that is like totally down to business serious really good, i don't think...she's good at what she does. but people like morgan freeman, tom hanks, and bruce willis are soooo good at everything...i think all the people out there with that talent deserve some recognition. WAY TO GO GUYS!!! anyway, the movie is so good, you should see it.
