Rating: Summary: Deep Impact vs Armeggedon Review: I saw Armeggedon in the theatre and Deep Impact at home even with the smaller screen and smaller sound quality Deep Impact was much better even on home TV's it is the definite choice. Armeggedon was really far fetched, not believable at all plus the language and humor is typical Hollywood material-completely unaceptable. Deep Impact dealt with REALITY, it actually had a plot.In Armeggedon they just suddenly are bieng hit by meteors, in Deep Impact the government knows about it and covers it up, which is what our government would probably do. The teenage girl really captures a beatiful american family scene in a disaster. It may not have as much action as some films, but it makes up for that in family values, plausibility, and just enough special effects and action so that it doesnt become one long run-on filthy fatasy done all by computer with no talent like so many other movies. The people who did this movie actually had BRAINS! Definitly better than Armeggedon.
Rating: Summary: I loved it!!!!!!! Review: I thought the movie was great. As far as acting I thought the actors put across what they were attempting to convey, no flashy overdramatization, just simple real emotion. That's what I loved best about the movie the emotion. I also saw Armageddon and believe that this movie got a bad rap from the beginning. It was what it was from the start -- an action movie and it was excellent. From special effects to casting I thought it was great. I recommend both of these movies. They look at the same type of disaster in vastly different ways.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Superb...The Monarch of Meteor Movies Review: I enjoyed Armageddon as much as the next person. However, to me it's just a typical Don Simpson/ Jerry Bruckheimer action movie where the good guys always win, and the theme is generally light- hearted; i.e., Top Gun, Crimson Tide, Last Boy Scout, Beverly Hills Cop 1/2/3, The Rock, Face-Off, Con-Air, etc. DEEP IMPACT is, in my opinion, a wonderful story which is fairly realistic about what could take place in our society in the event of a potential threat of an E.L.E (try searching this on the net and see what you get). My "hat's off" to Mimi Leder (who has also directed a few episodes of "E.R.") for a first-rate job with a wonderful and very believable cast. The emotion generated by the story is not completely dependent upon CGI special-effects, but seeing the small comet hit earth and the resulting tidal wave demolish New York City will take your breath away. This movie also has an informative and innovative website (www.deepimpactmovie.com) worth checking out. Actually, if Morgan Freeman really wants to run for president, he should consider selecting Robert Duvall as a running-mate; or, vice-versa. Either way, they've got my vote. Hopefully, DEEP IMPACT will get your vote too. This is a must-see; it has definitely climbed the ranks to the top five in my "favorite movies" hierarchy.
Rating: Summary: not even close to armegedon as far as all round movie. Review: what can i say i seen armegeddon first blew this deep impact away.but must admit that tidal wave seens was well done.
Rating: Summary: Great movie. Review: One of the best movies I've seen this year. Compared to this, "Armageddon" was pure trash.
Rating: Summary: One of my top ten all time Review: This movie was one of the best films ever. It had a lot of heart to it. You have a struggle to survive with the odds stacked heavily against you. The performances were some of the best of the year. I saw Deep Impact at the movies three times, and loved it each and every time. I have seen it on video and really missed how it looked on the big screen. I refuse to watch it on video again until the widescreen version comes out. Bottom line, great movie, great music too. If you haven't heard it check it out at movietunes.com
Rating: Summary: Full Featured Film: Deep Impact Leaves a Deep Impact. Review: If you don't like movies that stirs up your emotions, don't watch this movie. It is a very realistic depictation of what could happen if a meteor was discovered heading our way. This movie looks at the human implications, the human drama, the human effect such a disaster would cause. More than the physical damage and upheaval, it is the human damage and upheaval that counts. You may not like every character, but realistically, do we like everyone we meet? This movie is a fantastic combination of action, romance, and sci-fi FX. It's both a guy film and a girl film, which is why some don't like it. If you want your films to be only "all guy" or only "all gal" you may not like this one. But if you want a film to hit you in your heart, in your mind, in your soul, in your gut, this is the film for you.
Rating: Summary: Good movie ... but not great Review: Despite the absolutely ridiculous and Anti-American rantings of a certain "critic" from Eastern Europe this was not a pro-American propaganda film. The black president scenario was not too unbelievable considering Colin Powell might have won if he ran. Also, one of my favorite characters in the film was the Russian astronaut, he was the only one who cared enough about his fellow astronaut to want to go back and save him. This film has no political message whatsoever and how it could evoke such sentiment is beyond me. I suggest "Independence Day" if you want a film about the brotherhood-of-man-saving-the-planet. The best part of this film is how it builds up to the climax--which I thought was decent.
Rating: Summary: I COULD DO BETTER IN MY BATH!!!!!! Review: DEEP IMPACT, THE NAME IS CRAP FOR STARTERS. HOW ABOUT: WHAT IMPACT, THE TIDAL WAVE I WOULD ADMIT WAS PRETTY ERM......LITTLE . OH NO THIS TIDAL WAVE IS GOING TO DESTROY THE EARTH , WELL WAIT A MINUTE, WE'LL FLY INTO THE ASTEROID AND GET SCHOOLS NAMED AFTER US. HATS OFF TO WHOEVER ADDED THAT LINE. I MEAN COME ON THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE NEW GENERATION OF TOP QUALITY FILM ENTERTAINMENT, I WENT TO THE CINEMA TO SEE THAT AND NEARLY CRIED, NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FILM, I HAD TO PAY MONEY WAS THE THING THAT GOT THE TEAR DUCTS TWINGING. BUT I SUPPOSE IT COULD BE WORSE THEY COULD TAKE OUT A SEQUEL. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Rating: Summary: Very disappointing! Review: "Deep Impact" was very cheesy! The best scene in the movie was the tidal wave, which you saw in the previews. "Armageddon" was better because there was humor and it wasn't as corny. "Deep Impact" was pretty bland, but if you like commet movies, try it out.
