Summary: My new Favorite movie
Review: Deep impact really hits it with me, while there are not a lot of famous actors and actresses, it still is a very good film. So far, in my many years of movie viewing, I have not seen a better film. I don't have the DVD yet, but I plan on buying it very soon to add to my quality collection. If you're looking for a good movie, with good effects, good actors and an even greater storyline, see Deep Impact.

Summary: One of the worst films of 1998
Review: There were only a few films in 1998 that was worse than Deep Impact, and Armageddon wasn't one of them. If you compare both Armageddon offers a lot more action, humor, character development, and suspense. For Deep Impact, you have to wait an hour and fifty minutes for the special effects to really begin. While they are impressive the effects end almost as soon as it begins. The film does have some tense emotional scenes dealing with parents having to die to save their kids but that's about all the character development we get. There are way too many characters in this movie. Let's see: Morgan Freeman as the president, Robert Duvall as an astronaut who tries to blow up the comet, Elijah Wood as a teenager who really didn't need to be in the movie, and the same goes for Tea Leoni as a reporter. Armageddon isn't a anywhere near a classic but at least develops enough action to get through the bad(but occasionally hilarious) dialogue. I had read in some magazine articles that Steven Spielberg was originally going to direct Deep Impact but couldn't because of his work on Saving Private Ryan. While he definitely would have improved the movie I'm glad he didn't accept the job.

Summary: Step Away Armagedon!
Review: I have seen both Deep Impact and Armagedon, and I have to say that Armagedon is a pretty good movie, but is not to be compared with Deep Impact. The main difference between Armagedon and Deep Impact is that, Deep Impact actually makes sense, In contrast to Armagedon. Armagedon is a typical "Bruce Willis Movie" packed with boneheaded action, and voilent scenes. In Armagedon, this country's goverment, decides to put the whole worlds faith into the hands of a bunch of Oilriggers, who according to the movie, didn't even pass high school! Deep Impact however, shows how the world would really look like if a disaster like that should threaten the world. Deep Impacts cast and exelent story make this movie great! You will also experience incredible special effects, and dramatic scenes. If you're looking for a pointless bunch of special effects, then Armagedon is the right choice for you. But if want to experience one of the greates acievments in film-makeing, Deep Impact THE perfect choice. DEEP IMPACT- Oceans Rise. Cities Fall. Hope Survives .

Summary: Hopeless!
Review: Deep Impact was the biggest load of tripe to ever grace our screens. Yes, I'd too like to see a black president, but you know what, it's so darn ridiculous to even contemplate why even put it into a movie which doesn't even focus on that subject? A black president is an entire movie unto itself - Morgan Freeman, however would be the right actor, if ever there was such! To Jerko Markovina in Croatia, you're right - Deep Impact didn't ridicule the Russian astronaut, but you know what? 1) He wasn't as pretty as the good ol' American astronauts - yeee har! and 2) He was the only astronaut who didn't get a little "goodbye to the world" transmission! Why? Don't Russians have loved ones too? Are Russians that discompassionate that they can't say farewell in their darkest hour?

The inclusion of the black president and the Russian astronaut is this diabolically bad movie was just a cheap stunt to make the movie politically correct, and it makes me sick that the writers would stoop to that depth of depravity to generate the ticket sales that they succeeded in getting! (I hope you're proud of yourselves).

Morgan Freeman, Robert Duvall, Maximillian Schell and Vanessa Redgrave will forever be the great actors they always were, but Deep Impact was such a bad movie, I couldn't even recommend it to a five year old, because it would insult their intelligence! I'm just dumbfounded that the (arguably) "mature" reviewers of this tripe found it to be remotely realistic! The same reviewers probably believe that the Klingon Empire exists out there, somewhere too!

Summary: Overly Serious Disaster Flick is Hopelessly Banal
Review: DEEP IMPACT, the holier-than-thou disaster flick, is so geared up to grab your emotions and leave you spellbound with its action scenes that it cancels its effects right out. The human dramas depicted here and syrupy, one-dimensional concoctions that have the emotional vitality and freshness of a bottom-level soap opera. And the action scenes are a complete wash, with unimpressive staging and slack pacing killing any attempts for suspense. The most ludicrous thing aspect to the picture is how darn CALM the entire population is with their dire situation; there's no rioting, no anarchy, no major panic erupting at the certain prospect of Earth being obliviated. Talented actors like Robert Duvall and Morgan Freeman sleepwalk through their roles while picking up an easy paycheck, while the film itself fumbles scene after scene with embarrassing ineptitude. For a better film of this type, check out ARMAGEDDON. It's not exactly brain candy, but at least it's got some exciting moments and not such a self-destructive sense of nobility.

Summary: Oh Lord!
Review: Deep Impact vs Armageddon? Comparing one trash pile to another doesn't make one good! Both movies were diabolically bad!

Summary: I thought is was a good film
Review: I really liked this movie, the physics are pretty much exact and the acting was good. I liked it much more than that other doomsday movie, which sucked.

If you like science-reality then this is your film

Summary: Save your money
Review: Even more disappointing than Armageddon, this waste of 2 hours didn't even have decent special effects. How can "Hope Survive" when we have such hopeless "entertainment." Freeman and Duval should be ashamed to have appeared in this film, let alone be listed in the credits. Tia Leone's lackluster acting was in keeping with this effortless production. Michael J. Fox was right: TV writers today- as bad as TV is- are doing a better job than the silver screen guild. Sad indeed.

Summary: WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! Much better than Armageddon!
Review: This movie is a great work of cinematography because it combines well-filmed action with with a REAL story, whereas, in Armageddon, things explode almost every minute, but the audience never really has a chance to slow down for a minute to catch its breath. More importantly, however, is that Deep Impact gives the viewer a true look into the lives of many people in many different contexts. Thus, I give it five stars. What a memorable film! Congratulations, Hollywood!
