Rating: Summary: Terror in the heavens? Review: If you want to see a movie where everything that can go wrong, with big named stars with a big budget and a big band then prepare yourself for that big dissapointment, because Deep Impact is not Armageddon. In fact, the only thing that the two movies have in common is the fact that a large rock is going to collide with the earth and that they both have strikingly similar ways to deal with the big bad antagonist. On the other hand - unlike Armageddon, this film is for certain dramatic and without a doubt, considerably more realistic. The characters are intricately realistic, and not the bunch of renegades which one might expect out of the cheaply thought up script, but rather delicate and human. The fate of the world lays on one crew, and this movie is incredibly realistic vice Armageddon. This film kept me glued to the seat, wanting to know more - and although it doesn't move as fast as Armageddon does, it's by far superior. Good special effects, good acting, and for what it's worth - a really great disaster scene - I give this a full five stars.
Rating: Summary: DeeP UpSET Review: Deep Impact, a movie I heard was pretty "cooL". I was up late on saturday night watching this movie... It was only the first 10 minutes and I knew it was going to be boring... This movie is the worst movie in a long time... Rating: Summary: A waste of money on different levels. Review: It is interesting that the bulk of the previous 152 reviews attempt to sound "intellectual" about how this movie has "realism", "deep & thought provoking", "human issues" than the other template movie, "Armageddon". My wife & I decided to check out both movies when we got our DVD player, and this review is based after seeing both versions. If I wanted to talk about "realism & human issues", I would rather mentioned "Driving Miss Daisy, Soul Food, Fried Green Tomatoes, The Joy Luck Club" among others. There hasn't been an action/thriller film that dealt with realistic dramatic issues. Real issues are dealt in dramatic films, documentaries, and in some instances, comedies. The saving graces of this movie are the performances of Morgan Freeman, a bit of Robert Duvall (he has done better), the (now to be expected standard of) fx & sound. The performances of others are either lame, wooden, or sadly, underused. Given that both movies have weak and/or unrealistic plots, this movie tries to cater one too many of the viewer's needs thereby rendering it too thin (and even frustrating, depending on your nature). At least "Armageddon" doesn't tries to be that, and that is not saying that it is awesome. To say that this movie is "awesome, great, 5 stars", you are better off writing/working for a marketing and/or PR firm.
Rating: Summary: Good presentation of an old theme Review: Good realistic portrayal of facing world destruction and attempting to defeat it with todays technology.
Rating: Summary: OF THE 2 COMET MOVIES THIS ONE WINS HANDS DOWN. Review: "Deep Impact" is the better of the 2 meaning "Armageddon". In this story the characters are real, the plot isn't drowned out by a Aerosmith banging guitar soundrack, and the special effects are quite interesting, especially seeing New York City underwater. A good movie, though not great, it beats "Armageddon" by a long shot, and the actors in this one just don't look pretty and cry to a bloated music soundtrack.
Rating: Summary: Well.... Review: I thought this movie was boring. Of course, thats just my opinion, I could be wrong. Too much crying, for one thing. The asteroids gonna hit, get over it. I like the fact that the director was a woman (they usually do movies like this, who else would have a black president in thier movies) plus the fact that it was more realistic than that comedy (did I say "comedy?") Armageddon. I kinda have more respect for this movie, but I did think it was boring and overrated. Course, like I said, that just my opinion, I could be wrong. I am yet to see a movie in which the bad guys (aliens, asteroid, terrorists, prank callers, the like) actually win anyways back to this movie, good job!
Rating: Summary: I give it a negative 10 Review: Don't buy this ummmmmm I guess movie.Nothing ever happened and it was sooooo stupid.I had a good nap and all but I could of had dinner at Mcdonalds and had a better time.ZzzzzzzzzZzzzzzzzz
Rating: Summary: u cant beat armageddon!!!!!!!! Review: deep impact was more realistic than armageddon, butarmageddon was way more entertaining!!!!!
Rating: Summary: This is a great movie Review: This is a great movie. I really like how it intertwined action along with emotion together. Leelee Sobeski, the actress who plays Sarah(Elijah Wood's wife) is amazing. She is only 16, 17 on June 10th and is amazing in this movie.
Rating: Summary: Too boring Review: This movie is not the worst iv'e ever seen but still it sucks. The so called "characte development" and sub-plots are really just annoying and boring and the effects aren't as good as in Armageddon.I do think sub-plots and character development is always good but not when it's done as bad as this. Here we have two cute kids played by Elijah Wood and Leelee Sobolowsky who want to get married so they can become saved. And because the parents of the girl can't come with them she refuses to save herself go,i mean this is one of the most idiotic things that you can show on TV.And then theres a news reporter who hates his dad and in the end it ends with her hugging her dad on the beach as the tidal wave is about to sweep them of instead of trying to get away. The sub-plots are too boring and the effects just ain't really good.
