Summary: Torture...
Review: Much has been said and written about this mega-movie. People tend to either love it or hate it. Personally, I belong to the second category. The film's special effects are generally impressive, but the plot is so utterly stupid that it makes the average soap opera look like fine art. Rarely have so many cliches been used in the same story, the characters are stereotypes and the plot turns are generally very predictable. James Cameron made some fine films in the 1980s, but in the 1990s he lost his touch, which is evident here. Still, the film won both Best Picture and Best Director Oscars (instead of LA Confidential), which once again proves that the academy tends to reward the wrong films.

Summary: The Unsinkable Romance
Review: I loved this movie!! It has phenomenal special effects and the sets and costumes are incredible- only enhancing the storyline!! Leonardo DiCaprio gives a moving performance as Jack Dawson, a dreaming and scheming lower class young man who falls in love with a confused upper class young girl (Kate Winslet). The original score adds to the emotion of this classic love story while making the sinking of the ship even more tragic. This 9 time Academy Award Winner is worth the 3.5 hours!!

Summary: Great Movie, Poor DVD
Review: As one of the greatest blockbuster hits ever to come out of Hollywood, one would expect more from the DVD. The DVD, especially from Fox DVD, is sub par. It contains no special features, and the quality is so-so. I would wait until a special edition (which almost assuredly will come) arrives on the scene. The DVD just does not do the movie the justice that it deserves; it is one more example of a DVD made without any real care or thought. Do yourself a favor and wait for another version.

Summary: special effects were good...
Review: but am I the only one who thinks Leonardo was horribly cast as Jack? He seemed too young and his speech and mannerisms were entirely too modern. He could not, at the time this movie was made, make me look beyond the fact that he was acting. On the plus side, Kate Winslet and Billy Zane were very good and so were the technical effects. I gasped when the screws came up out of the water. Wow, cool!

Summary: Something to say....
Review: Okay, it's been awhile since this movie came out and the "Titanic phenomenon" has since disappeared, but after reading some people's reviews of the film, I felt it necessary to add my thoughts. Not everyone is going to like this film. In fact, a lot of people probably won't. For a lot of people, this movie will just be about a mediocre love story added to a tragedy, solely intended to boost sales of the film. And let's face it, it did. We all know that the prime viewers of this film were lovestruck teenage girls, helplessly drawn into the love story of the "doomed Jack and Rose". The producers of "Titanic" and James Cameron all knew this. That is one of the reasons that this movie was such an incredible blockbuster at the box office. I am not a big fan of movies that will add a love story into the tale of a terrible tragedy, just to make money. However... knowing all this does not keep me from liking the film.

The Titanic was an epic ship. It was the largest ship of it's time, equal only to its sister ship, the Olympic. When it sank on the night of April 14th, 1912, it was an immense tragedy to all the people of it's time. 90 years later, it still continues to fascinate the world. The story of the Titanic is not just about the sinking of a ship. It's about those who left loved ones behind to save themselves, those who refused to leave their loved ones, those that gave up their own lives to save others. It's about why the disaster happened in the first place, those that could have stopped it, those who really never understood what was happening. The heroic actions of the people on the ship, and the disgust you feel at those that acted less than heroic. In other words, the Titanic is about REAL PEOPLE. Real people traveled on the Titanic and lived the real experiences that were shown in this movie. Some survived. Most did not. Those that died, died terrible, tragic deaths. Those that lived, were left with terrible memories of what happened on that fateful night. Memories and experiences that they would never forget. This movie brings those stories and experiences to life. Yes, a love story was added to appeal to those that wouldn't normally be interested in a film like this. However, no matter how you look at it, James Cameron's "Titanic" shows you the doomed stories and heroics of those that sailed on the maiden voyage of the Titanic. So as you watch this movie, take the time to think about the truth behind it: real people went through this terrible tragedy... and real people died during it. Maybe that might put a little perspective into your initial distaste of the movie "Titanic". I hope that there are enough people in this world that still feel compassion and mourning for those that were on the fateful maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic.

Summary: Oh, puh-lease.
Review: This movie was sorry. The only cool thing about this flick is the music. I can't believe I actually sat through 3 hours of watching this sorry boat sink, and there were people who didn't even try to get off the boat. Hope they're good swimmers. This movie won 11 oscars. Who was directer James Cameron bribing? I think Titanic was not about the boat. It was more about his ego. This is the same guy who grabbed his oscar and claimed he was king of the world and left the broken down set of Titanic in a pile of ... at the film site in Mexico. The authorities complained and made him come clean it up. That's just pitiful. The Best Picture should have gone to Good Will Hunting. That was a skillful and well thought out drama done by two young and gifted actors who wrote material that would have required a PHD in psychology. At least Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Robin Williams got a statuette out of it. But this flick...in comparison to Ben Hur's 11 ocars...someone was paying off the judges. If any epic-scale movie deserved 11 oscars, it should have been Lord of the Rings, but who am I kidding? In Hollywood, anything goes.

Summary: TITANIC!!!!! Movie of the century!!!!!!!!!
Review: People said that Titanic would be an enormous flop, destroying 20th Century Fox more than Cleopatra did,35 years ago!!! But, it wasn't, it was a phenomenal hit!!!! Teenagers loved it because they felt like Rose (she was 17 when Titanic sank): she's beautiful, she's rebellious, she's searching for her true love, she hates the man who is destined to her, she's always unhappy, she doesn't like living in the rich world and teens could easily identify themselves to her and teens (girls) loved Jack beavuse he was handsome, brave, courageous, funny, serious, intelligent and full of life!!!And I was a kid when Titanic was released in France, Korea and South Africa, in the school newspapers, people said their favourite movie was Titanic because it talks it was romantic and they loved the characters (Jack and Rose). They loved Leonardo di Caprio especially and that was always annoying me (I don't like him) and in France, it was the most high-grossing movie of all time, beating "La grande vadrouille" (I recommend it to you, it's a very funny French comedy) with 21 000 000 tickets sold against 14 000 000 tickets sold!!!

Ican't forget that movie, its music so beautiful and making me always cry when i listen to it, the characters who are very emotionnal, the costumes, the art direction, the visual effects (impressive!!! Bravo!!), the direction (thanks to James Cameron), the song amazingly sung by Celine Dion which made her also a super duper star!!!!!!!!

Titanic is the movie that nobody will forget even if it was released 6 years ago!!!!!!!!!

Summary: 5 Stars and more!...
Review: I've had this movie for 3 years now, but when I re-watched it again this past weekend, I couldn't help but say WOW! Everything is great and believable from the sinking to the freezing water.I usually fall asleep during 90 minutes movies, but I didn't even know 3 hours had gone by when I was watching Titanic. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet gave very very excellent performances and I couldn't help but watch it over and over again. I don't understand why people called it a "chick flick", but wasn't it that "chick flick" that made over $600 million in the US and & almost $1 billion worldwide making it the most popular motion picture of all time? I truly recommend it for anybody who hasn't seen it. It's worth your every penny and time!

Summary: Should¿ve been about the real TITANIC!!
Review: This film, which is based on the real-life story of the Titanic, but includes a cheesy love story between two stupid people, won eleven academy awards and is considered one of the world's greatest films. Yeah right! It doesn't have any best actor/actress awards, and Leonard DiCaprio definately didn't deserve an oscar. The only time where he express any feelings was when he and the other men began to break the bar door with a chair.

Setting during the time of the Titanic, which is during 1912, "Titanic" tells the story of two crazy lovers, Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio), a poor guy, and Rose (Kate Winslet), a rich girl who's just plain sick of her life. During a suicide attempt, she gets "saved" by Jack, who teaches her the meaning of life. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Soon they fall in love, even though Rose is engaged to a rich guy, Cal Hawkly (Billy Zane, the best actor here, aside from the guy who played the captain).

Then, the two stupid lovers start running around in the Titanic, doing all so sort of things, oh, who knows what! Let's forget Leonardo and Kate, and let's all focus on the Titanic, the TRUE main character of the story, as we witness it crash into the iceberg and sink. With dozens of special effects, the sinking of the Titanic was the best scene in the movie, not the nude drawing (Kate Winslet's bare breats are seen!! Ahh!!). And yahoo! Dumb Jack died!

Here at Amazon.com, "Titanic" has many negative reveiws, but personally, I think it was okay. I think that the Titanic and its sinking was what made this movie cool and greatest movie made, not the two lovers. It won the Best Picture, but hey, where's the Best Actors and Actresses Awards?? And where are all the other oscars???

I kind of liked it, but there are problems here, which just brings the film down. For that, I give it less than five stars. I hope Leonardo does a good job "The Gangs of New York".

The End
