Summary: I was surprised
Review: I remember when the movie came out last year. I had seen the preview and heard how good it was, but I wasn't impressed and told my wife that I was not going to pay $7.00 to see a movie that I already knew the ending to. She eventually convinced me, and I have been thanking her for it ever since.

Titanic is an outstanding movie, bar none. People are not idiots. They will not pay their money to see it that many times if it isn't good. James Cameron mixes a real-life tragedy with a fictional love story that is very believable. Yes, I have read what others have said, how they criticize the acting, and the poor plot. I think the plot was great. It was about people going back to America, some for the first time, and this over zealous headline chaser that goads the Captain into making mistakes that cost 1,500 people their lives. One of the depressing parts, and there are many, is when the Captain is asked by a lady where her and her baby should go. He can do nothing but stare at her. He is now afraid to make a decision and the only one that he can make is to go back to the wheel and die with dignity, the Captain always goes down with the ship. All the other elements of sadness, romance, and action are there. From the old couple lying in bed waiting to die, to the blossoming romance of Jack and Rose, to Cal becoming furious with Jack at the taking of his woman, enough to try and kill him in the end. Lest we not forget the outstanding job the special effects team did at making the ship sink. All this has made me a sentimental idiot and I have never loved a movie as much as this one. END

Summary: The greatest movie I've ever seen
Review: Titanic has to be, in my opinion, the greatest movie ever made. I saw it 7 times and everytime I cried my eyes out when Jack died. The special effects where great. Especially when the ship split in two. I knopw I'll be 1st in line in the video store on Sept. 1st. END

Summary: great movie
Review: This movie was one of the BEST movies made this decade. Sure it was long, but The Godfather was 4 hours long, and it is a classic. It was mainly historically accurate, the directing was (what can I say) superb, and the acting was great. I don't know why people don't like the plot. It's a love story. what kind of plot are you looking for, a hero who saves the ship and falls in deep love with a beautiful woman while he's at it?? Come on. PG-13 was a good rating for it, it shouldn't have been rated R. The James Bond movies were made 20-30 years ago, and are filled with nudes and other content, and virtually all of them are PG. I've already reserved my copy. this is better than all of the REALLY FAKE OLD ones. The soundtrack was great too. I'm getting it soon. (I can't believe I haven't already!!!) END

Summary: This is one Unforgettable Film
Review: James Cameron's Titanic is a 3 hour 14 minute epic that seems a wole heck of a lot shorter than that. It is a magnificent film with a lot of heart and soul. I would say the weakest part of the movie is its writing. Kate Winslet and Gloria Stuarts roles are outstanding and Billy Zane's role was awesome. James Cameron Deserves an epic film like this, it had superb directing, the film makes you feel like you have entered titanic. The music score by James Horner is sweeping and the emotional aspect of the film is unforgettable. No Movie is perfect, but this film is darn close. One of or one of the greatest movies Ive ever seen. I saw it 6 times and I still cant get enough. END

Summary: A true spectacle, if somewhat flawed...
Review: Say what you will, but there is no denying that this film pushes all the right buttons for your average movie goer: attractive leads, forbidden romance and men and women struggling against the odds to survive. By films end you are both exhilarated and emotionally exhausted.

Still, this is by no means a flawless film. There's some painful dialogue, more than a few CG shots that are so painfully and obviously CG (the flyover from bow to stern was overly ambitious and looks awful with clearly animated people strolling the deck) and the director seems to take a few liberties with history. From a dramatic point of view, "A Night to Remember" is a far better film.

But why quibble. Titanic earned and deserved the nomination it received for best picture, if not the award itself. Titanic proves that Hollywood can still churn out a film the way they used to with lavish sets(a full scale Titanic, no less), costumes and an appealing cast.

Definately worth owning on VHS, LD or DVD. If you don't get the widescreen version you're literally missing the big picture. END

Summary: One of the worst movies of all time...
Review: This movie won Best Picture if I remember correctly. What I want to know is... why??? Now, don't get me wrong, this movie has a couple of good parts, but there's a lot of immoral trash that could have (and SHOULD have) been left out of this movie. I mean, HELLO, we have almost a five minute scene showing Kate Winslet naked, lot's of swearing (not to mention flipping of elders), and add on top of that some unmarried sex!!

I'm not saying this movie is all bad, it's just that it could have been a LOT better. James Cameron, I hope your next movie is a lot better!! END

Summary: Kinda corny...
Review: I thought it was a good movie (I better think that, I saw it 4 times) but it got pretty ridiculous. I mean, there's so much empasis placed on the fact the Jack died, but who really cares? People say how they cried and cried when he died, but I can't understand that. I laughed when he died. The part that was really sad was when the band was playing "Nearer My God to Thee" and they showed the mother reading to her children in third clas. THAT was worth crying over. It was also way too long, and too predictable. If it's a love story, of COURSE he dies in the end, it's inevitable. And hey, guess what? THE SHIP SINKS! GET OVER IT! And another thing (yes, I'm just full of opinions), couldn't they find a better singer than Celine Dion? She looks and sounds weird.

PS: I saw the movie 4 times because twice was at b-day parties, and one time, my friend wanted to go. END

Summary: Half great, half fair......
Review: I didn't go to the theatre to drool about ol' Leo; I went to relive the horror that passengers felt 86 yrs ago. I was so amazed by the special effects! The acting was not outstanding (exept for the end) but the quality of the film is outstanding! Though I do agree this should be rated 'R' for the profanity and sexualality. Definitly a movie that you should watch because this is something that really happened. In my point of view, James Cameron was trying to let the world recognize TITANIC as a tragic, painful, and memorable night, not only to the survivors but so that everyone could see how a few hours can change your entire lives. If you are one who are rating this movie a one or two star, you probably did not like the script, but you have to admit, it is a sad thing right? See! tHAT'S Cameron's point....to make us realize this is a tragic event. But all I'm trying to say is that, it's really worth watching. END

Summary: Greatest Movie...NEVER
Review: Now don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed the movie, but I also like McDonald's. Who would rate Mickey D's as a four star restaurant? It's made more money than Titanic and more people from all over the world have been there. Just because something costs a lot, makes a lot of money and everyone likes it doesn't mean it's the greatest movie evermade.

Titanic was good. I didn't want my money back, but it had several problems--besides the absence of realistic characters, lack of plot, ludicrous dialogue and uninspired direction. (Beyond FX. I will give the devil his due. James Cameron can work the hell out of the blue background.)

The biggest problem was with the character Rose. Kate Winslet was BORING. Gloria Stuart was BORING and UNNECESSARY. I kept wanting to slap both Roses and I was really teed off that Jack died to keep that little twit alive. She was such a self involved idiot. I know her mother was a terrible, cold woman, but don't you think it was a little heartless to let the woman think that her only daughter was dead?! And don't give me that "well she would have pressured Rose in to marrying butthead." So what? Rose had undergone this miraculous metamorphis. Jack's love had made her so stong, she could now follow all the dreams that she didn't have the courage to before. His sacrifice had convinced her to live...She would not let that sacrifice be in vain. So why couldn't she simply stand up to the woman and say, "Mother, I'm going to live." Rose didn't tranform. She simply figured out a new way to avoid being a REAL WOMAN. END
