Summary: Who wrote the screenplay?
Review: I'll give credit where credit is due, the visuals are outstanding. However, the dialogue, the plot, and the hackneyed Romeo & Juliet styled romance really dragged this film down, ( I'd like to know what percentage of people who "love" this film are teen-age girls).

This is only my opinion but I think this would have made a great "Day in the Life", or "docu-drama" film, with portions of the film devoted to the various types of persons who were aboard the ship.

I just think this is the perfect example of a movie where the distributor is more concerned with making a quick buck, than generating a film that could really stand the test of time. END

Review: I didn't belive him untill I saw the movie but it actually did hold my attention for the whole 3+ hours..."Worth watching even for a manly man like me" - END

Summary: This Is One Worth Owning.
Review: James Cameron's "Titanic" is a rare film by today's standards for many reasons. Not least of them is that the film withstands repeated viewing. There's a kind of magic going on with this film, and everyone involved has a hand in it. Cameron's direction is both inspired and loving. His camera often sweeps through scenes and across characters like a lover's hand. The photography and visual effects are rich with warmth and color, more like artwork than film. The musical score is hauntingly beautiful, and the actors are all good in their roles. Perhaps the most mesmerizing part of the entire film is Gloria Stuart, who's performance provides the heartbeat beneath the iron skin of Titanic. Anyone looking for a real flaw in the film ... has too much time on their hands. This ocean liner shines. END

Summary: Titanic is wonderful
Review: ...It is a sweeping epic romance that will capture anyone's heart (if they actually have one). It is visually stunning with fabulous special effects. I even think the acting was great, and I never had a problem with the script or dialogue. I think Titanic is one of the best movies ever, and I feel it is in the leagues of Gone with the Wind and Saving Private Ryan (although you can not compare any of these movies with each other -- they are far too different). I highly recommend that you see this movie, if not for anything else, see it to learn about one of the most tragic maritime disasters in history. You will not be dissapointed. END

Summary: Worth Seeing, But Extremely Overrated
Review: I enjoyed this film, and it is definitely worth seeing (I didn't see it until the home video release), but it's way too long and dragged out. Tape 1 could have been at least 30 minutes shorter. And its to the credit of the Academy Awards committee that none of the primary actors won any of the Best Actor/Actress awards (especially the granny who played the survivor, and was barely in the film). Hearing DiCaprio quoting 1960s Bob Dylan lyrics at least twice during the film, which takes place in 1912, was just one of the sore points for me. Also, many of the computer generated scenes of the boat sailing through the water were obviously fake, as was the digital iceberg. Another big blooper was the instantly appearing spit on DiCaprio's chin during the "gob" scene when he turns to face Winslet's mom on deck. It would have been a better film if they didn't focus almost entirely on a few primary characters, and instead stuck to the general story. Also, none of the paintings by Monet, Degas etc that they were transporting were ever on the Titanic, and the passengers in the icy cold water rarely show any discomfort at all! As I said, it's worth seeing, but I didn't find it to be the mammoth film-to-end-all-films that it was hyped up to be either. END

Summary: Superb
Review: Titanic is one of those rare films that takes epic romanticism and major special effects, mixes them with a powerfully emotional story straight from history and gives you one of the silver screen's greatest masterpieces.

Too much hype can ruin a film and unfortunately, too many people out there have not seen the film as an artistic expression, but as a big-budget blockbuster with too many teenage fans ranting and raving. END

Summary: This movie is an insult to the rich!
Review: Here's what you need to do. Take a look at this film from the so-called "villain's" perspective. Cal, Rose's fiancee, has spent a huge sum of money on this girl. She has agreed to marry him. Her mother will wind up starving and broke if Rose doesn't do this. What happens? Before you can say "Debbie does Dallas", this girl is shacking up with a boy who is poor, and barely over twelve years old! The outrage! She couldn't keep her pants on around this guy for more than three days? Poor Cal. At least he had the good sense to kidnap a child, and pretend he was the father. What a fine example of the human spirit, triumphant in the face of adversity. END

Summary: Titanic is an incredible epic.
Review: This is a movie that we should be proud was produced in our time- extraordinary. It seems, from the reviews below, that if a movie is popular & prosperous it is chic to denounce it: I disagree; that is simply ignorant. And as for the complaints about the 'sexuality' & nudity: these scenes were much tamer and tasteful than anything on television dealing with the same situations. Everyone involved in "Titanic" worked to make it the epic sensation that it is & James Cameron is the man behind it who deserves the most applause. END

Summary: I thought that this movie was too long.
Review: This movie had terrible acting, dumb plot, and was way too long. I can't recommend it too any body. evn the music was bad. Also its real expensive END

Summary: Could have been great but for the dialogue
Review: I truly enjoyed this movie when I saw it for the first betime but on repeated viewings some of the flaws come apparent. Mainly the cliched dialogue. LeonardoDiCaprio really deserves all the accolades because he rises above the awful words he has to say and is truly one of the most charismatic actors to grace the screen in a long time. END
