Summary: Brandon Lee, greatest Crow
Review: The movie had a wonderful fulfillment of the gothic love story including revenge and misery. The music was lovely for the movie. I strongly recommend it to the average goth. My boyfriend and I both got goosebumps at the sight of the action and the sound of the music. Two clawed thumbs up.

Summary: A Fitting Final Piece
Review: First and foremost, I really enjoyed this film, as evidenced by the 5 stars I gave it. However, there are some problems I had with the film and the DVD release of it. First of all, The Crow follows James O'Barr's original story quite closely, with the addition of some characters such as Top Dollar's sister the Asian mystic, and Top Dollar's assassin/bodyguard. I found that the Asian mystic took away from the film. She was added in in order to play the role that the skeleton portrayed in the book, but her feeble lines and lack of acting ability took away from this film for me. I also hold this film responsible for the unfortunate current trend in selling a movie based on the soundtrack. The soundtrack to The Crow was well thought out, and utilized much of the music that James O'Barr listened to while writing The Crow. Irritatingly enough, Trent Reznor is featured as well, covering a Joy Division song - the soundtrack should have just featured Joy Division - but Reznor was flavor-of-the-month when this film was released in '94 and his popularity sells records. I was disappointed to see James O'Barr take his creation and sell it off - The Crow was never meant to move beyond the initial story, but O'Barr got greedy and now there's a plethora of comics featuring the Crow, and even a complete cheese-ball of a sequel that made me sick to watch (see my review of The Crow: City of Angels). There's even talk of a third movie, to further disgrace Brandon Lee's memory and the reason for the writing of The Crow to begin with. A TV series cropped up a few years back that the Sci-Fi Channel is running in syndication - it generally follows the ideals of the film and I have found some of the episodes enjoyable to watch. The DVD was put together nicely (one review said the picture quality was too dark, but the DVD has the same level of brightness as on VHS as well as when the film was first on the silver screen). I was really hoping for some extras: the theatrical trailer, the interview snippet that was included on the widescreen VHS, and the unreleased footage of Eric and the skeleton. A secondary audio-only track would have been nice, especially with all the thought that went into both the score by Graeme Revell and the soundtrack. But the most important part is the film itself, and that is reason enough to purchase the DVD. The Crow is an incredible film, and a fitting final piece for Brandon Lee's talent.

Summary: 30 Stars!
Review: This movie is brilliant, and ive watched it at least 30 times. It tells the tragic tale of Eric Draven, who was brave enough to stand up to tyrants trying to control the city, but ends up losing his, and his girlfriends life! This crime was so horrible, and filled with so much sadness, that a crow turned around and brought him back from the dead. Eric Draven has returned to stake his vengeance! This movie is filled with action, suspense, and a great acting job by Brandon Lee (RIP). May The Crow forever lie in annal's of great films!

Summary: Correcting a Mistake
Review: The Crow is one of my favorite movies and not because it is the greatest movie I have ever seen (it isn't) but because it holds a very special place in my heart. The good guy gets revenge and is reunited with his love and the wrong things are set right... what more could you ask for? I am writing this review to let those who wish to buy this DVD know that the sound is excellent and the picture is outstanding. When deciding to purchase this item I read a review which said that on the DVD the dark shadows of the film were grays instead of blacks and the sound wasn't of the highest quality - well, both those things are false. So if you have read the same review, don't fret because the shadows are still black, the picture is clear, and the sound is exceptional.

Summary: Exellence
Review: This movie was a great watch. The shots (no pun intended) and angles were great, and the script was well written. This was one of the few movies that actually made me care about the characters because they were well developed. This is the best movie to ever be adapted from a comic book, and it stays true to the comic's style, unlike "Batman", which wasn't like the comic book. One more comment, this is about the amazon editorial reviewer saying that "Dark City" was a superior follow-up. "Dark City" was one of the most dissapointing movies I have ever seen. I expected the director to do something better with it after "The Crow", but the movie was horrible. Get "The Crow" on DVD, the sound and picture quality are great, and it's widescreen. Great film, I can't praise it enough.

Summary: A wonderful story of tragic love.
Review: This movie is simply wonderful. Besides its awsome action the movie can also make you cry like a litte be-otch. Wile watching this you minght start to feel the pain and heart wrenching sadness Erik Draven (Brandon Lee may he rest in peace)has for the lost of his soon to be wife. After I saw "the crow" I don't watch other movies in the same state of mind I used to because most of them can't compaire to the unmatchable story line "the crow" has. This movie is great. It has wonderful action and it's a heart breaking love story at the same time. The ending puts my hairs on end and I have to force back the tears somethimes. A wonderful movie that has made itself quite a strong fan base. So you should just pick this up sit back and be ready to get your Adrenaline flowing and your tears jerked from you eyeballs. Enjoy!!!

Summary: Beautiful darkness
Review: Director Alex (Dark City) Proyas deserves credit for the finest comic to film adaptation so far. A dark and haunting film, The Crow tells the tale of a man who returns from the dead to avenge the murder of his beloved. The actual crow in this film is his link, and his source of power, between the world of the dead and the world of the living. Wonderful preformances all around and the fact the film doesn't flinch from the violence that heightens the drama makes The Crow an all time classic. But the thing that stands this film apart is the death of the lead star Brandon Lee. It is ironic that he was killed while playing a charater that that is killed only to return, if briefly, from the dead.

It is this fact that makes The Crow a much more dramatic and darker film. It gives everything in it an undeniable sence of melancholy.

A must purchase.
