Summary: THE SIGN OF THE RAVEN ( gasp ! It's a bat ! )
Review: THE CROW can be seen for its second half full of fury. Otherwise, this movie is nothing than a B production destined for the 12 years old of mental age. For the make-ups, go back to the BATMAN serie which seems to have inspired both the director and the producers of THE CROW.

No need to concentrate on the dialogs and the music both of the worst kind. In fact, I'm sure that THE CROW would have been a masterpiece if it had been shot in black & white and with a 1925 piano as musical background.

Correct special effects, above-average violence and interesting bad guys save THE CROW from the total oblivion. Alex Proyas will be much more convincing with DARK CITY.

An average DVD.

Summary: excellent movie
Review: This is a great film despite what some say, and I doubt the fact that Lee died in the making contributed to its success. It was my favorite movie long before I even knew he was killed in it. The music is great, Nine Inch Nails, among others. I especially love the feeling that the movie gives off, if you love dark types of movies, similar to tim burton's stuff, youll like it. This is a movie evryone should see at least once.

Summary: The Crow
Review: The Crow is a fine movie, but not great. It is a very dark tale surrounding a man who returns from the dead to seek revenge on the killers of his fiancee and him 12 months earlier.

The Crow's popularity arguably stems from the tragic death of Brandon Lee only days before filming was completed. I remember when the film first came out - people flocked to see it because they had heard of the trick photography used to complete the scenes they still needed Brandon's character for. People were curious to see if it was noticeable.

The actual crow adds much appeal to a seemingly dull storyline. I have to agree with another reviewer that this bird was the second best actor in the film besides Brandon. Where did they find that clever bird?

The DVD I saw was an early release of this film and the transfer was appalling. I am sure fans of the film will be pleased to hear that a new DVD with excellent transfer, sound quality and extras is now available.

Summary: A infamous cult reference
Review: An ineludible reference in every Neo-Goth kid's wardrobe, "The Crow" is one of those movies that favor style over substance. Its success is, however undeniable: after all, it spwaned two sequels and a TV series. It also has to live with a very infamous reputation, since action star Brandon Lee was accidentally killed during the shoot. Now, for the movie, it's a classic tale of love and revenge beyond death. A rock-musician called Eric Draven (no pun intended, or is it?) is brutally killed, along with his girlfriend, by a pack of hooligans. One year later, whoever is in charge in the next world grants him a chance to come back as a living dead super-hero and take a not less brutal revenge on the runamuckers who had their number. All this he does with a fellow crow on his shoulders. The rest of the plot is superflous: in the midst of all this mayhem are the local cops who had little to do against the band of thugs that hold the city hostage, so, in the end, the Crow is avenging not only the death of himself and his girl, but all deaths.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan, but if you are, then you shouldn't even blink in front of this edition. Since it takes 2 discs, the picture and sound quality is the best you're going to find, as well as tons of stuff about the making of this comic-book-like film. Of course, a lot of the material is dedicated to the unfortunate demise of Brandon Lee, who happened to die in very similar conditions to those of his father.

"The Crow" is probably not one of my favorite films, but it does have an undeniable cult audience. It picked up the pace set by Tim Burton's "Batman" and took it to the next level. However, even to these people I would recommend director Alex Proya's much superior "Dark City", though it's not one of my favorite films either, it does raises more questions than this super-hero flick.

Summary: Excellent
Review: "The Crow" is an excellent movie. Brandon did wonderfully, unfortunately the young actor was killed within the making (RIP Brandon Lee 1965-1993). The plot was a justified revenge story. Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) and his girlfriend, Shelly Webster (Sofia Shinas), were both killed the day before Halloween and their wedding by a gang that burns buildings on what they like to call 'Devil's Night'. Eric Draven has some unfinished business and comes to life one year later to seek his revenge. It is a dark classic. There is no other movie like it. The dreary setting and the hopeful plot makes you want to watch it over and over again.

Summary: own this or your collection stinks
Review: I think most of it has already been said: its Brandon at his best, its dark, its gothic, and the replay value on this movie alone makes it worth buying. I watch it over and over again, usually around Halloween time. Has some of my favorite one liners, favorite bad guys. There are very few movies you never get sick of, and this be one of them

Summary: A masterpiece
Review: Based on the poplaur comic book of the same name,The Crow is one of the best comic book films of all time.Eric Draven(Brandon Lee in his last role)and his fiancce Shelly Webster are brutally killed by a gang of ruthless crminals the night before their wedding.Exactly one year after their death,Eric returns from the grave and is guided by a hypnotic crow to revenge on those who killed him and Shelly. The crow leads Eric to the places he needs to be and to find the people he needs to find.I never read the comicbooks at all but I still understood the premise of this dark if sometimes depressing film, the reason why I say depressing is from the fact that Brandon Lee died during the last couple of day of shooting the film with a loaded gun.The music in the film, both the songs and the score are really wonderful and they add a perfect pitch to the film, espically the song during the end credits. While the 2nd and 3rd Crow films are just ok,this one ranks high on my list of the best comicbook films ever made, like number 2 right behind Superman.Watch and enjoy this wonderful and beautiful masterpiece.

Summary: Miserable
Review: This film has some appealing moments and awesome guitar-based soundtracks, interspersed with some of the worst dialogue ever written. Eccentric, gothic, and utterly middle school, it's like watching Edward Scissor Hands done by the writers of Seventh Heaven.

The film starts out with a crow (actually it's a raven), that is really a spirit of sorts, manifested as a bird. The bird lands on a gravestone and moments later the ground below starts to stir. Meanwhile, a group of townies in a diner argue over tornados and the proper way to keep onions from "cheapin out on ya" or some effing ridiculous thing. Little do they know, Eric Dradden (Lee) is rising from his grave to avenge his own death and the death of his girlfriend. Once back in action, Dradden takes out his enemies and pays a visit to the overdone crime lord who was responsible for Eric's tragic end.

It's a pity this was Brandon Lee's last film, considering his good acting skills, which were by no means put to the test in this movie. Considering what he had to work with, I think he puts on a good preformence.

After him, the bird is the best actor in the film.

Something about this mellow-dramatic mess of film and its corny, made-for-television script is likely to move you in ways you never expected. Most likely, you fingers will move to the eject button on your DVD player. Full of hate and utter malice, it seems to be screaming in childish agony for all of violence and abuse in the world, while at the same time reveling in it. The whole thing is paced like a chess match; giving you plenty of time to finish your soda, chat with your fellow viewers, and decide to rent or watch another movie. For me, the most entertaining aspect of the film was listening to the characters spew out cheesy lines like, "Halloween ain't till manana" and "Bye-bye birdie". Right.

Summary: Very underrated and not noticed
Review: "The Crow" staring Brandon Lee was released in 1993-94. It was a huge hit when it was released in theaters, but for some reason, kind of faded out as the years went by. People soon completely forgot about "The Crow" and what a great movie it was. Now people these days have never even heard of it!

The story and plot are very basic and predictable, but somehow you find yourself liking it that way. The scenery is very dark and gothic like, somewhat like the original "Batman" movie, and at times--it is even darker.

The movie is about a musician, Eric Draven, and his fiance who are to be married on October 31st, Halloween. But the night before Halloween is even more dreaded in the city then Halloween night itself. Every night before Halloween, a gang of drug-dealers and killers run about the city and set fires to hundreds of buildings every year. This night is known to the city as "Devil's Night." This year, however, Eric and his fiance, Shelly, are victims and are brutually killed, the day before their wedding.

Legend has it though that if someone dies without peace, the soul cannot rest until it is fixed. People believe that if this happens, a crow can ressurect the body to set the wrong things right. So a year later, Eric is ressurrected and watched over by a crow to seek revenge on the gang that killed him and his fiance.

I'm not going to give away what happens throught the movie. But I will tell you that this is one of the greatest films ever made. Brandon Lee was not noticed a lot before this movie so no body really knew of his acting abilities. Sadly, he was killed during the filming of this movie. He did a great job, and quite possibly, could have been one of the biggest stars to date if he were still alive.

"The Crow" is about 1 hour and 50 minutes. It is rated R for extreme violence and distruction, very strong language, some explicit drug content, and some brief sexual content. Definatly not reccomended for children under 15.

Summary: 5 out of 5 stars is the ave. review
Review: When I wrote this review, the average customer review was five out of five stars. There were 158 out of 185 who rated this film 5 out of 5 stars. That should tell you something. If it doesn't tell you something and you remain ignorant of the obvious, well then, that is what I am for. I am the reviewer. You come to Amazon.com to find out what others think. I come from the masses. I am the majority. I am the film buff. I am telling you that this is a good movie. I am telling you that this is a great action movie. I am recommending that you purchase it if you expect to obtain any kind of a collection. This story is a forced fall from grace. The fall in this story is against the will of the protagonist. The essence of this film is revenge because that fall was ill conceived. And almost all films based on revenge are both drama and action oriented. So you know it will have action, you know it will have drama, and there is a small militia ready to backup the credibility for this particular film. That doesn't leave much else to refute. Just buy it.
