Rating: Summary: One of the funniest movies that I own on DVD! Review: Compared to Cheech and Chong's other effort "Still Smokin", this movie will have you in stitches! One scene that had me laughing for days was the part when Chong lights up that big, fat joint, and Cheech says, "Hey, IS THAT A JOINT MAN" and Chong tells him that the joint had Doberman poop in it, I was laughing so hard, that I'm surpriised my neighbors didn't call the cops! If you really want to see a movie that is worth your time and money, "Up In Smoke" is the best. "Still Smokin" isn't worth your time. Buy or rent this movie on DVD! The picture quality on the DVD is so clear and both the 5.1 and Mono Soundtracks on the DVD are very clear and everything!
Rating: Summary: NOT for stoners only!!! Review: If you are a stoner, you will laugh until it hurts. If you are not one who enjoys marijuana, but you are not too uptight, you will probably still enjoy this movie. If you thoroughly disapprove of marijuana use, this movie is not for you.Up in Smoke is Cheech and Chong's finest effort. I have found their other movies to be so-so at best, but Up in Smoke is full of laughs of both the clever and stupid varieties. I am not going to get too into the plot, as it really doesn't matter too much to the overall quality of the movie. It is the gags and the conversations along the way that make Up in Smoke so memorable. Stacey Keach is brilliant as Sergeant Stadenko, the police chief who is intent on busting the hero-stoners. He is of course ridiculous in his anti-drug beliefs, stating that it is crucial that they stop the trafficking of marijuana because "the buying and selling of marijuana may be the last vestige of free enterprise." Everyone in this movie is more a caricature than a character, and Cheech and Chong are in top form here. Other great characters include the tripped-out Vietnam vet, the coked-out chick who sniffs cleaning powder, the ludes-chick, and of course Curtis, who is always on the case. Will you enjoy this? If you are stoned, almost certainly. If not, a healthy appreciation for silliness and ridiculous is a prerequisite.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful, hilarious, period piece Review: This movie is something of a cult classic - it captures the essence of a time & a group of people that really existed (more or less), and captures them with total hilarity. This cheech & chong movie has aged incredibly well, with the scenery & soundtracks being still perfect. If you haven't listened to cheech & chong's old cds (from their radio programs), they can be hilarious too.
Rating: Summary: Cheech & Chong in their prime! Review: This is Richard "Cheech" Marin and Tommy Chong in their first starring role together. This film is Cheech & Chong in their prime. There is so much to laugh at here, your tummy will hurt like a lizard's. The DVD version includes "Roach Clips" which are outtakes from the film. This has an optional commentary you can click on. After you have seen the film, watch it again with the Audio Commentary by Director Lou Adler and Cheech Marin. You'll find out alot of interesting tidbits. After this film Cheech & Chong were destined to become a success. Many of us began buying all the albums they could make. This film included has a vinyl album soundtrack released Cheech & Chong Up In Smoke. This album included much of the music soundtrack used in the film, like "Low Rider". Some of the highlight scenes in the film are also recoreded on the album too like the memorable Strothers Martin scene and the Ajax Lady scene. The next film is CHEECH & CHONG'S NEXT MOVIE (1980).
Rating: Summary: ALL Pot and NO Plot makes this ONE DULL MOVIE! Review: Campy trip back to the smoky 70s. Definitely DATED, this film has "High Times" written all over it. These guys have not much more than "pot" on their brain. All jokes lead to the same subject...dope, man! Cheech and Chong had already enjoyed celebrity as novelty song artists with several best-selling albums to their credit. This effort of "Smokin' Dope - The Movie" takes their "message" to the next level. "Up In Smoke" gave them plenty of exposure and secured a solid fandom. 25 years later, though, the laughs drop drastically on the dime-bag-scale. When I was still in high school (and I didn't give in to the smoking of anything, then or now), I may have enjoyed this sort of nonsense more. As a middle aged intellectual, I can offer only a few tired smirks. Give me Laurel & Hardy instead!**
Rating: Summary: The first (and best) of many Cheech & Chong films! Review: Released in 1978, "Up in Smoke" is the first of six films by the comedy duo known as 'Cheech and Chong.' Being their first effort, it also seems like their best as later films (with the exception of "Things Are Tough All Over") quickly became boring and the magic just seemed lost. The first movie in a series is always the best, and true it is here with "Up in Smoke." The movie introduces us to Pedro DePacas and Man Stoner (Cheech and Chong, respectively) who meet under very unusual circumstances in Los Angeles. Cheech, driving his "...Love Machine" (it's a 1964 Chevrolet Impala for all you car-buffs out there!) joins with Chong and they spend the better part of the movie searching for some marijuana. The movie is very funny and is host to some of the most memorable "Cheech and Chong" scenes ever. The movie ends at a Rock club where the boys play some really strange music. On a final note, "Up in Smoke" has a very nice appearance by Stacy Keach who plays Sgt. Stedenko. If you are a fan of "Cheech and Chong," then add this to your collection. If you want to be a fan of "Cheech and Chong," then add this to your collection! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: THIS IS A PARODY, DON'T YOU PEOPLE GET IT? Review: This film does not advocate drug use, this film, and Cheech and Chong's act are parodies of people who do drugs. If anything it takes every stereo type of all kinds of drug users and makes fun of them. If you watch this movie again and think about what I have said you will actually think this film is even funnier than you did before. I have known most of these types of people and think this movie is halarious, one of the funniest films ever made and I do not do drugs.

Rating: Summary: Regoin 4 reveiw Review: This is the regioun 4 review of this disc. it may be diffrent? This great Cheech & Chong movie is most likly the best of the C&C movies! These guys had been doing this kind of act for many years on stage, and so when it came to putting this into a film, it was very easy , because they had been doing these gags for years anyway, and it was just a walk in the park to make for them! The hillarious events of the movie even cross over into the bonus features! There are a few deleted scenes that didnt make it into the movie, and its a shame they didnt, because some are funny as hell! It would be great of they made a Specihel edition directers cut and put that stuff back into the film, in Cheech Marions commentery he said that the scenes where not cut because they wernt good, they where cut just to shorten the film! and one great scene is one youd recignise from "Still Smokin" where Cheech is beeing a smartarse to an oldman (another charactor of chong) and doing the "I could be your daddy cause i used to F*** buffalo" gag! This DVD is well worth the money, and id recomend you get it with "still smokin'"
