Rating: Summary: Phoney, Funny, but Phat Review: I seen the movie a few years ago (when I was 13), and thought the movie was really good. I just bought it the other day on sale and to my supprise, it was even better than before. You don't get bored with it; it's funny, and the action is really good. Go out and buy it today.

Rating: Summary: Strangely funny and exciting! Review: I admit... the biggest reason I rented this movie was because of Mark Wahlberg is in it and I wanted to see him in a different kind of role. Well this is a 360 degree turn from "Planet of the Apes" for him. He is hit man and the cutest, sweetest, nicest hit man you would ever want to meet. He is so nice that he has an ulcer and justs wants "everyone to like him". The movie is rather silly but it is also entertainingly funny. It is wacky and the language is horrible, but, the action is very good and Wahlberg does some amazing moves during a hit and a car chase. I found myself laughing so hard becuase it was so stupid it was funny. Obviously, this movie is not meant to be taken seriously so don't see it expecting a serious movie or really a great one either. It is a comedy. You will either like it or hate it. Enjoy! Wahlberg is adorable in it as well as China Chow, the girl he has to kidnap.
Rating: Summary: The Big Hit Review: Alright, this movie is one of the greatest out there right now, and anybody who thinks otherwise is ignorant and uncultured. If you reviewed it poorly because of poor acting and other such things that everyone is picky about with movies, that was the point of this film. It's supposed to be laid back and corny--that is the beauty of this film.
Rating: Summary: Look Elsewhere Review: This is probably the worst movie I have ever seen. Characters continually die, but supposedly come back to life. This is a bad movie.
Rating: Summary: Do not Buy! Review: This movie is horrible, and it upsets me that people actually rate it above a 2. I honestly think these are people that work for....... to pump up these movies so people will buy them, because it is absolutley horrible. A combination of bad acting, a Whiney Mark Wahlberg, and a horrible, unbearable script. This movie is written so poorly, that you laugh at the dialouge. Please if you have seen this, help others out by telling how bad it really is.
Rating: Summary: Hong Kong Action meets Sitcom Comedy. Review: "The Big Hit" is a film that seems to be becoming more Well-known and Popular by the Day. On it's Theatrical release, it was little hyped and it Disappeared without a trace, (that was it's fate in Australia, at least) but, like some other Greats including "Austin Powers - International Man of Mystery" and "Happy Gilmore", This film has developed a Huge Following on Video. And Deservedly So, as it is One-Hella-va Fun Flick that keeps getting better with Every Viewing. The Action Scenes are Wonderfully Choreographed and the Comedy Scenes Perfectly Timed. Everything in the film is done in the name of Fun. Mark Wahlberg's Character Melvin Smillie is a True Original. He is a Contract Killer with Morals, The Lengths he will go to please people is Astounding. He Truly Hates it when Someone doesn't Like him. Wahlberg's softly spoken acting style is Perfect for this role, he also brings a lot of Muscle and Attitude to the Character which makes it all the better. Lou Diamond Phillips has his Best role in Years as another Contract Killer, but without the Morals, and Bokeem Woodbine is very Likeable as yet Another Contract Killer. Elliot Gould and Christina Applegate give Great Comedic Performances as a Father and Daughter who Complicate Melvin's life, as does Lela Rochon, who's funny in a more Evil way. Lots of Action, Lots of Laughs, and a Dash of Romance. "The Big Hit" has it all.
Rating: Summary: Better Than You Might Expect... Review: ...Surprised to find how much I enjoyed this DVD. Mark Wahlberg heads an all-star cast as one of four professional hitmen involved in a kidnapping that goes sour. This movie is actually a parody of ALL macho action movies... fans of this stuff will appreciate the action scenes; others will enjoy it as a sort of broad comedy which spoofs all the testosterone driven "shoot 'em up" movies. You should be aware that the movie is violent, loud, obnoxious, contains foul language, etc... Yet, taken as an ACTION COMEDY this turns out to work to the film's advantage. Mark Wahlberg ("Marky Mark") gives a surprisingly sensitive performance as a reluctant hitman with a gentle disposition. I never liked the guy and didn't think he could even act, but I was pleasantly surprised by his acting here. His performance practically steals the show. Lou Diamond Phillips is brilliant (and convincing) in his foul-mouthed, street-savvy performance. Also a strong performance from Avery Brooks (Sisko from the TV series Star Trek DS9). If you like loud action flicks with humor and a dash of romance, this one might be right up your alley.
Rating: Summary: an cool action movie with a hot new Star! Review: this movie is pretty cool! it's got action, comedy and a really cool up-and-coming star. mark walberg plays a nice guy who is caught up between to golddigging women and a stressful job as a hit-man. when the team of hit-men that mark walberg is in dicides to kidnapp their bosses daughter (played by ultra cute China Chow) everything goes crazy!! The movie itself is alright, the comedy and action make a good 50/50 mix, and the plot is easy to follow. the extras on thid disc enclude, a so-so commentary, some ok deleted seens, and some other extras. if you rent it and watch it and like it, you should buy it, but otherwise, wait for this one to go on sale.
Rating: Summary: Why does everything have to be so serious?!? Review: I wasn't going to add a review to this site, but after seeing all the negative reviews I had to. This is one of my favourite films, because it's enjoyable. Sure, there are funnier movies, movies with more action, better acting, a better plot and all the other things that people like. But this film is good at what it does, and that is bringing everything together. Rather than being the best film at one of these categories, it is good at all of them. And it's FUN!! Lou Diamond Phillips kicks arse in this movie... and there are some killer lines in there too ("Bust some caps?!? Give this man a gold star!!"). The soundtrack works well, the camera work is top notch, and all around this is very well produced. It seems there are a lot of people out there that think a film can only be good if it has a message, or Harrison Ford. Well here's an idea- get out there and make a movie yourself... let's see what kind of message you can offer the world. In the meantime, respect this film for what it is- extreme entertainment. And for that guy who said that all the people that hate this film are from Australia, I'm an Aussie.
