Summary: IM AMAZED I LIKED IT!!!! KEATON IS THE ONLY BATMAN!!!!
Review: Who would have thought that Michael Keaton wouldve made an excellent Batman???(certainly not me!!), When I first heard that he was to be the Caped Crusader, I was shocked, and disappointed, I just couldnt see him as Bruce Wayne let alone Batman. It was because of that prejudice that I never bothered to watch it on the Big Screen. (Was I stupid or what!!!!)Well now that Ive finally seen it I can happily say how wrong my initial reaction was, (I wonder how many other movies I have missed out on because of my misconceptions???) I now enjoy this movie for all its worth. One of the highlights has to be Jack Nicholson as the always grining Joker (Strangely enough, I thought he was mistcast as well!! Wrong again!!) What a guy I had never associated the joker as a cold calculating character, with lethal overtones (Thanks to the TV series it really screwed up all my perceptions about Batman and Co!) so I was pleasantly surprised with Jacks performance, (Absolutely fabulous!!) The (not that Goody) Good verses (not that) Evil theme is the basis for this film, it follows our Hero Bruce Wayne into his lonely world of Vengence and crime fighting, it is a dark portrayal of innocence lost, a driving force powered by Bruce Waynes tragic past. We see the inevitable meeting between these two characters and wait to see the sparks fly!! leading to a climactic end! If your a fan of the TV series then you will instantly see the differences (they kinda jump out at you!!) and you may not like it, this is a dark story of vengence NOT a campy romp of comedy!! Watch it and find out for yourself, Im sure you will ENJOY this little gem!!!!

Review: What an amazing summer 1989 had. For me college was done, and I was soon off to law school, but for the summer of 1989 I was a high paid summer law clerk living in D.C., with a mountain bike and a pile of unforgettable friends I would spend priceless and irreplaceable nights with, creating memories at the Tombs, knowing that, come September, things would never be the same. It was the last summer Dee Dee played with the Ramones, whom we chased all over the mid-atlantic. The Mazda Miata was introduced and there was a tremendous buzz about that and we test drove it. Gregg LeMond defeated Laurent Fignon in the most exciting Tour De France finish ever and we caught it live from our living room on "S" Street, NW. And then there was Batman. I kept reminding friends "June 26" ... "June 26"; that and the warnerbrotherized Batman logo are all that appeared on the Batman movie posters which teased us. I had a serious Batman jones since Frank Miller's Dark Knight series and had gobbled up Batman for the past four years. Batman's logo was prominently featured on my bicycle. The media teased us with retrospectives on Batman, with stories about the Golden Age, the Batman mythos, and especially Bob Kane (who by the way makes a cameo appearance in the movie as a sketch artist who taunts the interepid Alexander Knox). D.C.'s WUSA (I think it was them) was running the old 60s Batman TV show on saturday mornings, and I'd get up early just to watch AND tape them before going out on my mountain bike. The Artist Who Hadn't Yet Freaked Out And Was Still Then Known As Prince performed two soundtrack songs, "Trust" and the Batman theme, on Saturday Night Live. We were tantalized. And then June 26 came around, and for the rest of the summer a perma-grin remained on my face. From beginning to end, what a great movie, and what a summer. But when I get the DVD, won't it only make me realize that you can never go back?

Summary: Batman movies in their golden days.
Review: This is the best Batman movie of all 4 of them! They all went downhill from here. Micheal Keaton is the best Batman of all, he could kick Val Kilmer and George Clooney's butt any day of the week. The Joker is Batman's best enemy, and Jack Nicholson does a great job of this monstrous villian some call "The Joker". HA, HA, HA, HA. The movie is dark and spooky (well, it has to be seeing how Tim Burton directed it). Danny Elfman's music is awsome too. The Batmobile and Batwing are th best design of of the series, compared crappy ones that come after it. These models were better than any other computer animated vehicals that come afterwards. No ice-skate boots, no "Power Ranger" moves, and best of all... no Robin. Don't bother with any of the other 3 films, it's all in this one!

Summary: The Best of the Superhero Flicks
Review: Like many, I had some initial reservations about the casting of Michael Keaton in the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, but, boy was I wrong! Keaton proved all the naysayers, like myself, to be totally in error. Under director Burton's able hands, Keaton showed a talent that had been hidden by his previous comedic roles. His menacing, yet sarcastic expression was meant for the part of a character with two distinct identities. Too bad that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences did not reward him with at least a Best Actor nomination. This performance is worthy of that recognition. Jack Nicholson basically plays the Joker as only Nicholson could! No more needs to be said. A marvelously haunting score from Danny Elfman as well as the contributions from Prince make for pleasurable listening during the film. A pre-Oscar Kim Bassinger is "eye-candy" in the limited role of Vicki Vale. Finally, the "look" of Gotham City is both beautiful and grotesque. This makes for a truly unique movie.

Summary: When Keaton, Burton and Elfman get together they make magic!
Review: Without a doubt the best batman movies ever are Batman and Batman Returns both are great! Batman which is a definite classic the movies has the music, the story, the great acting by both Keaton and Nicholson, the gothic sense that you feel from Gotham City is just great you should try to get this movie I'm sure going to buy this one and Batman Returns as soon as possible. It is undisputable that when Keaton, Burton and Elfman get together they make magic I think they've only worked 3 times together on Beetlejuice, Batman and Batman Returns well they should think of working at least one more time on maybe the rumoured sequel for Beetlejuice or maybe planning a way to bring back the Batman franchise to life after what Schumacher made that is probably one of the worst things anyone could have made giving something so well done to someone who came and destroyed everything I didn't like much Batman Forever but I totally hated Batman & Robin the day I saw it I almost threw up! Keaton is the best BATMAN EVER!

Review: Batman is an outstanding action-packed spectacle that honors Bob Kane's creation like it was meant to be. The movie is simply terrific. Tim Burton's unique style gives the story powerful emotion and depth. Gotham City's gothic look is impressive. The cast is wonderful. Micheal Keaton gives an amazing performance as Batman/Bruce Wayne. Keaton is still the best batman ever. Jack Nicholson is terrific as the Joker. I enjoyed the numerous gadgets and vehicles in this movie. The Batmobile and the Batjet looked great. Forget the sequels. The original is still the best.

Review: A great movie. This is an extremely close second to Batman Returns, and the DVD definitly does the movie justice - except I wish that the notes were filmed. The possibilities there, seeing Tim Burton, Michael Keaton, and Jack Nickolson would have been a great touch.

Summary: Chilling gothic depiction of an ambiguous hero
Review: Tim Burton excels at taking well-known fairy tales and revealing the dark psychological undercurrents. No example is better than that of Batman. Watching his parents murdered as a young child, young Bruce Wayne dedicates his life to fighting the forces that tore apart his world. Obsessed to the point of mania, he hides behind a mask, appears only at night, and lives outside the law. His desire for revenge consumes him. His nemesis - the gangster who gunned down his family - becomes horribly disfigured while trying to escape him, and is tipped into homicidal mania by his scars. He becomes a crazed terrorist using chemical weapons against civilians. The two characters oppose each other in every sense; the irony is heightened by each one being responsible for creating the other. This is not a story for children to appreciate. Burton successfully creates a brooding, gothic look to his city and characters. He draws inspiration from Lang's Metropolis, especially in the final scene atop the cathedral. Look beyond the script flaws to enjoy a fantastic performance from Jack Nicholson and a dark visual delight.

Summary: Easily The Best
Review: "Batman" is easily the best out of all the "Batman" films. It has a better cast than all of the other films in the series and it is the best directed one also. Michael Keaton will always be the best Batman. The sets and production values in this film are also amazing.
