Summary: Burton's Batman
Review: The journey of the Dark Knight from comic book to screen saw director Tim Burton ditch the campy 60s "KAPOW!" action and outrageous villians and go much deeper and darker. The auter who gave the world Beetlejuice (1988) again does things very different. But it works very well. This is still the best in the series, with all the key players working to their very best. Michael Keaton IS Batman, evoking the same troubled character from the DC comics, and of course, Jack Nicholson as The Joker, a great character played brilliantly. Burton, master of the bizzare, was the perfect man to bring the legendary comic book to the screen, and he does it wonderfully. Danny Elfman's excellent score is another added plus, and the action, while not Burton's strong point, is expertley done. The look of Gotham City is inventive and fascinating, creating a nuance of comic book-styled-action and dark storytelling. All this blends perfectly to create one of the best comic book movies of all time.

Summary: A pretty good movie, but not good Batman...
Review: I Adore Tim Burton. I also Adore Batman. I highly anticipated this film when it was being made, however I was greatly disappointed. While it isn't a bad movie, it is terrible Batman.

Batman isn't about gadgets and things. Batman is about a man who turns himself into the ultimate crime-fighting machine, and that's something that just got lost in the live-action transition to the big screen. If you want to see some really good Batman, try the unedited version of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.

Summary: the most unique Batman film of all time
Review: The acting, story, and Danny Elfman score in this film were all very well done. Jack Nicholson gives a smashing performance as the Joker while Michael Keaton takes the lead as Batman. Even though the sequels were good, this movie still stands alone as the #1 Batman motion picture of all time. I feel that the last two Batman films would have been better if Tim Burton had stayed on the project along with Michael Keaton keeping the role of Bruce Wayne.

Review: The best comic book film to date. Tim Burton's unique visual display will leave you breathless. In a time of crime, Gotham City is in the need of a superhero. Batman, or the Dark Knight, scares criminals and delivers justice to the city. Jack Napier, a man who is cheating with his boss' girlfriend is about to be wasted, but falls into a chemical tank instead. After that, he becomes the Joker (played by the immortal Jack Nicholson) and vows to get revenge on Batman, the man who dropped him into the pool of chemicals. Batman's personal life revolves around Vicki Vale (Kim Basinger), an aggressive photographer who is on a mission to discover the roots of the Batman. The man behind the mask is none other than the richest man in Gotham City, Bruce Wayne (Michael Keaton). He is traumatized by his parents' deaths and vows to get revenge on the man who murdered them. He waited for many years to get his hands on Jack Napier, or the Joker. Boy oh boy, does he get revenge! This movie is filled with comic relief from Jack Nicholson with his art altercation in the museum, 'love that Joker' commercials, and huge revolver. Michael Keaton is perfect as the mysterious, but tough Batman and Kim Basinger is too cool as his love interest. "You wanna get nuts!? Let's get nuts!" Listen for the soundtrack with its great orchestration and Prince songs! This movie is the coolest comic book film ever and will forever remain the best. The closing scene where Batman is on a rooftop of a building looking up at his signal is just the best. I can't stress that enough. This movie is pure immortal.

Summary: One of the Best movies i've ever seen.
Review: Since the summer of 1989, this movie caused Hype with Big box-office success, Merchandise, and Acclaim. When i was 7 years old back then, i saw this movie in the theater and it blew me out of my seat.

This is set in Gotham City, a Millionaire named " Bruce Wayne" ( Michael Keaton) is also a mysterious avenger named " Batman" who fights crime and avenge his parents death. A criminal named " The Joker" ( Jack Nicholson) has plans on getting rid of Batman and trying to take over the city.

This is a very entertaining, fantastic and well-acted Fantasy clsasic that deserves to be a blockbuster. It's also one of the only Tim Burton movies i liked with " Beetlejuice" and " Sleepy Hollow", Kim Bansinger is downright sexy in this one. Jack did a great role as " Joker" and this is the best Comic Book film ever made with " The Crow", " Spider-Man", " Superman" and " X-Men".

One of the Greatest movies of all time.

Summary: Great movie
Review: I guess ive been a Batman fan since the day i saw this movie way back in the past century. It has a great music, i like what Danny Elfman did in this movie, i wouldnt think of any other kind of music for this kind of Hero. The music is so adecuate for the movie and the character. The actors are good. Jack Nicholson is just great, but old. If he were the Jack Nicholson from The Shining, that would be a great acting and a very extremely cool Joker. On the other hand, Bruce wayne ....not very great character. They should have called somebody else instead of Michael Keaton. He is just not too mysterial. But talking about the devil, the Batman was great. Quiet, too mysterial, just great. Keaton didnt do good on Wayne but he sure stay silent in the Batman disguese that you can just forget about the Wayne Character. i liked this movie, you star having a crush on the batmobile and on the bat-wing. but of course, you can always watch and like this movie as long as you are a Batman fan or like the batman character. and i you like nicholson of course...its just so great to see him this way.

Summary: Batman Goes To The Movies
Review: I feel conflicted about Batman. For some points, the movie was definitely a disappointment, but in other ways, it was also one of the best superhero films I saw. For the good points, I did enjoy the dark tone of the film. Batman IS a dark character - this film serves the purpose well, much better than the Joel Schumacher films that tried to turn him into a comedian. Gotham City is a disgusting place, and is it supposed to be New York City in the '80s? The grime and grit of the city is well displayed. I liked the touch of the corrupt cops. The villain, Joker, is also one of my favorite. Jack Nicholson gives a great performance - it could have been ruined by a lesser actor. However, Joker isn't give much to do, other than dance around to dated songs by Prince and cackle wildly. But I guess that's what a Joker does?

Now, to the disappointments. The first has to be Michael Keaton. He simply is not a dynamic actor. He doesn't give a human side to Batman, and he doesn't seem very menacing. I remember thinking what an odd choice Keaton was for Batman at the time. Also, we don't get to see much gadgets or of the Batmobile. Robert Wuhl's character is pointless, and Kim Basinger also isn't too fascinating. I was a bit surprised she slept with Bruce Wayne the first date. The plot? What plot? All I remember is something confusing about cosmetics and parades and other things.

I can't change your mind on "Batman," these are just things I feel. But then again, I didn't enjoy the other three Batman films. It just felt like this could have been better. However, if you are looking for a mindless thrill ride, you should see this movie

Summary: Just Dark Enough
Review: I don't understand complaints that this movie is "too dark" - Batman is one of the darkest, if not THE darkest, mainstream superheroes around. Burton realized Gotham City brilliantly; the towering buildings and absolute lack of sun (it's always either night, cloudy, or inside) emphasizes how hopeless and crime-riddled the city is, and how much it needs Batman.

Michael Keaton seems like an unusual pick for the role of the brooding Bruce Wayne, but he plays the offhand-but-guarded role very well. Instead of coming off as as uncool good guy-type like Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, he lets a bit of an edge reveal itself in every scene, especially in the "Let's get nuts" scene. Kim Basinger is, well, "charming" in the role of Vicki Vale. Her small gestures and the way she plays off her co-actors is subtle and results in the Batman franchise's only worthwhile female lead. But the show really gets stolen by Jack Nicholson, who is brilliant as The Joker; his performance is practically effortless as he says, "Where does he get those wonderful toys."

Batman is a movie dark enough to do the comic honour, but it's not exactly a think piece, so it's a perfect movie to watch with some friends. Yay Batman!

Summary: The REAL Batman(Keaton)
Review: This is an excellent film. I keep reading that the first two Batman movies(Batman and Batman Returns)were dark and evil...my god this is BATMAN the superhero that lives in a cave not the Carebears that live among the rainbows and clouds etc. Real Batman fans see and appreciate what I'm trying to say here. All in all, I highly recommend this to your VHS/DVD collection, it is truly a work of art. Michael Keaton gives an outstanding portrayal of the dark knight, Tim Burton did a great job. Now for the rest of the films after the first two...well they just blow...Joel Schumacher really [messed] them up...real bad. I hope you enjoy this film..I did

Summary: the best of the batman movies...by far!
Review: this film transcends the cheap imitations done by its sequels. the acting is superb, especially by Mr. Jack Nicholson, who can't seem to do any wrong with any character he plays. and tim burton does a wonderful job in creating the dark world of Gotham City. also top notch is the score by Danny Elfman who set himself apart from other composers with this score.
