Rating: Summary: horrible, terrible, stinky film Review: Ghostbusters (the original) was a brilliant concept, executed brilliantly, combining Bill Murray's sharp wit, Harold Ramis's master deadpaning, an array of great music, a lovable Rick Moranis, compelling monsters, mythology, Sigorney Weaver's sultry presence, and a Lovecraftian mystique that perfectly undercuts the surreality of the situation. Spoofs on media, sensationalism, politics, engineering, and everything else abound. Oh, yeah, and Dan Aykroyd was in it, too.Ghostbusters 2 is none of that. It takes our beloved characters and downgrades them to hokeyness, trivializes the groove of the first movie by (just like _Return of the Jedi_) allowing the characters to meet a reduced version of the original threat. What, not as good the second time? Wonder why. At least Jedi had muppets. There's a terrible subplot here involving a baby that's just annoying. The concept of a river of slime underneath the city had potential, but you just can't believe that anyone would be frightened by it. What's normally in those sewers, anyway? That's more scarey than the dayglow goo you get out of a supermarket gumball machine, which for some incoherent reason was a threat here. In this incarnation, Ghostbusters 2 represents a terrible waste of characters, actors, writers, and celluloid. It's such a shame given the quality of the first movie; we can only dream that it might have been good, and that makes it even more sad. "...Found out about Vigo, the master of evil..." Oh, yeah, and the soundtrack was bad, too.
Rating: Summary: Fun sequel, but not as good as the original! Review: I remember going to see it in theaters when I was 9! I thought it was very cool to see the Ghostbusters come back to save the day from Vigo the Carpathian who's spirit resides within a painting, and who is planning "the season of evil" for New York! Even though the tone is more light-hearted than the first film (even with the one great scene with the Statue of Liberty smashing her torch into the huge mold of slime kicks butt), and we are missing the old Elmer Bernstein score (although Randy Eldman's music score was good), "Ghostbusters II" was and still is a good movie for all ages!
Rating: Summary: Who Ya Gonna Call? Review: Well, the answer to this is Columbia home video to demand a better DVD of this movie. As it is, the only thing worth getting this disk for is to have the film in widescreen. If you are looking for documentaries, or deleted scenes or anything like that, then you can pretty much skip this disk. The only real extras are the trailers which are the same four that are on the first movie's disk (Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2, Groundhog Day, and Stripes). Overall, the movie deserves five stars, but the DVD with it's blatant lack of extra content only deserves what I gave it.
Rating: Summary: One of the best sequels ever! Review: When mother Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) realizes that her child has become the "chosen one" for a medieival destructor to enter present day New York City, she must call upon the four men she got to know earlier when she became a dog. But they've all gone their seperate ways! Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) is once again a scientist at the university. Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) has become a bookstore owner with books about, of course, paranormal activity. And goofball Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) has become a T.V. show host about the strange and unusual. But, in a court case, they must deam their proton backpacks once more! Get ready for this out of this world movie that is one of the best sequels ever made! Some people don't agree with me on this, but it IS one of the greatest sequels ever made. I have to end this review with saying one thing. Venkman : Okay, suck in the guts guys. We're the Ghostbusters.
Rating: Summary: Nice Film, Superb DVD Review: This is a great re release of Ghostbusters II the DVD has some nice added features including somewhat unnecessary but fun to watch subtitles in Chinese, Thai, and Korean. There is other content on the added features which is also quite impressive. I remember seeing this in the theater when it first was released. It brings back memories. This film film is mildly scary to kids, but funny to grownups.
Rating: Summary: The first one is the best! Review: I was like about 8 years old when I saw Ghostbusters 2 in the theater and I really enjoyed it. But a couple of years later it gotten kind of dumb and boring. I have to say I like the first one. The new edition to the first Ghostbusters on DVD is great. It has alot of great features like theatrical trailers, making of, deleted scenes, and the tracks and trivia. The tracks and trivia is my favorite because you'll find out of what really happened during the movie. I hope they make a Ghostbusters 3 soon, that would be awesome. I think Bill Murray is hilarious and so is Dan Aykroyd. But there not that funny in the second one. The second one just has references to the first Ghostbusters except for the jello scene. If you don't have any of the Ghostbusters movie stick with the first one because it's great, the second one is not very good.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as the first, but not bad for a sequel Review: The Ghostbusters return in this follow-up as out of business workers who aren't so popular to begin with the general public because a lot of people think that they are fakes. The baby of Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) becomes the target for a ghost who wants a son, and who else would you call other than the Ghostbusters? "Ghostbusters 2" is a fairly decent sequel to the original blockbuster, but I didn't think it was as good as it could've been. For one thing, I didn't think it was nearly as funny as the original, and some of the things such as the idea of a painting coming alive and wanting to steal a baby, and making slime come to life with music and then using the statue of liberty to destroy part of the main enemy was a little too much for me. On the other hand, "Ghostbusters 2" does have good special effects, the soundtrack is great, and it was mildly entertaining. If you liked "Ghostbusters," I would recommend getting "Ghostbusters 2." Most movies don't have sequels that can even stand up next to the original, but "Ghostbusters 2" isn't bad when compared to the normal sequel.
Rating: Summary: A great sequel Review: I Love the Ghostbusters movies. To me there just comedies. This one really scared me when I saw it. Dan Aykroyd is great. He should of directed this movie. The second Tale revolves around a misterious painting that is alive and well in the museum of Art located in NEW YORK. I enjoyed this one thouroughly. It talks about the bad vives or spirits flowing around NEW YORK CITY. Director:Ivan Reitman.Cast:Dan Aykroyd.Harold Ramis.Rick Moranis. Ernie Hudson.Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray with a CAMEO appearance by Brian Doyle Murray,Bill Murray's older brother.
Rating: Summary: Underrated Sequel Review: "Ghostbusters II" recieved a fair amount of bad press when it was first released, but it is a charming, well produced and yes, funny sequel to the first blockbuster. The film picks up five years after the original. We find the Ghostbusters out of business and broke, Bill Murray is hosting a bizarre cable access show called "World of the Psychic" and Ackroyd and Ernie Hudson are performing at children's parties. Aren't the parents nervous about the GB's wielding their proton packs around thier youngsters?? The story speeds up when the Ghostbusters reunite and discover the soul of an ancient tyrant resides in a portrait in a museum. The tyrant, named Vigo has decided to take possession of Sigourney Weaver's child so he can live again to rule the world. This plot seems more disturbing than the plot in the first film, but director Ivan Reitman gives us plenty of humor to counter balance. While not as funny as the first film, "Ghostbusters II" proves to be an entertaining follow up to the first classic film. After years of viewing, "Ghostbusters II" reveals itself to be a classic in it's own right.
Rating: Summary: 2 movies in the box...ready to go... Review: This movie is just as good as the first, if not better! Every line Jonosz (Yan-ush, Ally Mcbeals Peter Macnichol) has is very very funny. you will be laughing for days. ("Everything your doing is bad, I want you to know this.....nobody listens to me!") The whole cast returns (a rarity for a sequal) also a rarity for a sequal is that it is a fresh storyline! not just ghouls and ghosts from the first movie. The acting is great too. You will not be disappointed and this DVD has had a great work done from Columbia, and it needs to be seen in Widescreen and Dolby!. If you liked the first you will love the second with improved writing, sound and visual effects and is much funnier! Oh...and Slimer is back in a funny cameo, he even gets his own star billing in the end credits!
