Summary: 2 1/2 hours of gratuitous violence
Review: Sorry, I usually like this sort of movie, but I found the violence to be tedious and painful to watch at times. It just keeps going and going and going. Should have only been 90 minutes not 142.

The car chase on the bridge was awesome though. If you want a brain dead action movie with massive violence then this is it.

Summary: A Much More Better Film than the orginial Bad Boys
Review: Bad Boys 2 I found to be very funny, and very full of action. Of course there is a lot of f-bombs in this film, and I dont recommend buying this DVD for your kids, or letting them watch this, but what do I know? I am still a kid myself.
The movie starts out where we left off; two Miami detectives are on the hunt for ecastcy; a very popular drug used by kids. Now one of the leading drug cartels are selling drugs through a Russian-own night club, and the Miami police start to get hot on his trail. Knowing that one of the drug cartels are up to this, they pose as exterminators which one of the drug cartels mothers house are infested with rats, and they put small cameras throughout the house, now as they slowly get data from the cartel, Marcus's sister (Gaberille Union) is undercover posing as the drug cartels girlfriend, she is a DEA agent trying to take down the drug cartel themselves, so now they join forces, and when they find out how the drug cartel is running drugs through in the states: using dead bodies in caskets with the dead bodies stuffed with pounds and pounds of ecastcy. So now they make their bust, but the drug cartel has Marcus's sister in his custody in Cuba, so they head to Cuba, and they go on a wild chase all the way to Gutmo Bay to American soil.
The movie is a HUGE improvement over the first Bad Boys, the acting is good, and I liked the script a lot. Still I just wish that Will Smith and Martin Lawerance would just tone down the cursing throughout the film, but still a good movie.

Summary: better than i expected
Review: Amongst the 100's of bad action/comedy films that have been made since Die Hard, I continue watching them in hopes of good quality escapism. BB2 caught me by surprise. I found myself actually laughing out loud (very rare for me). And the special-effect car chase-and-smash scenes were phenomenal.

This is not a high-brow intellectual movie by any means. It is simply what a movie should be--entertaining. The chemistry between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence is great. There are a few cheesy over-the-top moments, but easily forgivable in the total context.

If you just wanna have fun watching a DVD, rent this one.

Summary: As good as the original.......
Review: While watching the original Bad Boys recently, I was reminded of how much I have been wanting a sequal to be made. Luckily for me, it's finally a reality. Bad Boys 2 is a fun, loud, great looking, summer popcorn flick. Don't go to it expecting Acadamy Award performances. Don't go it expecting Michael Bay NOT to shoot the movie like it's a music video. And please don't go to it, if you have a sore abdomin, because you will be laughing for close to 2.5 hrs.

Martin Lawrence & Will Smith are back and they do a lot of the same stuff they did in the first movie. The villian (Jordi Molla) is a drug dealer trying to be the biggest extacy provider in the U.S. Along the way, Martin's sister (Gabrielle Union) gets involved being she is in the DEA. Many cars are smashed. Some buildings are blown up. Many bullets whiz across the screen. And many lines of hilarious dialogue are said. Like I said before, this is a perfect example of a huge, summmer popcorn flick. Michael Bay directs like he has a severe case of ADD. You rarely see the shot stay or hold on anything for more than a few seconds. It's almost hard to watch sometimes. But, he does make amazing looking movies. And he can film an action scene like nobody else. Some of the car chases in this movie are amazing. He just has a certain directorial style that you can tell it's him just from watching the movie, even if you weren't told the directors name before you started the movie.

Martin & Will do a great job reprising their roles. They have on-screen chemistry that two actors rarely share. They work off of each other brilliantly. When you see the scene they have in the electronics store, you have tears of laughter coming from your eyes. And they seem to know their roles very well. Martin is the little funny, family guy. Will is the good looking, muscle bound (looks like he really hit the weights for this one) action junkie that all the women like. Problems insue when Will goes after Martin's sister, however.

Gabrielle Union plays Martin's sister. She is a DEA agent working the same case Martin & Will are. She does a pretty good job in the roll, showing she is not just here for eye candy. Her and Will's romance doesn't hinder the picture at all (cough...Pearl Harbor....cough) and leads to some funny moments. The villian is also quite good. Jordi Molla was excellent in "Blow". When I saw his eyes when Johnny Depp put a gun to his head in that movie, I knew he would make a great villian. And he doesn't disappoint. He doesn't play it over the top, and has a certain voice and attitude that really goes over well.

This movie is great if you want to take a woman out on a date, but she doesn't like action movies. It's a bit long (at 2.5 hrs.), but this is the sort of movie everyone can like. It's got great action, comedy, visual style, and has two guys playing off each other better than any two actors I have seen in awhile. So go get some popcorn, snuggle up with your woman and enjoy the ride.

The DVD is a 2-disc set containing: deleted scenes, some production diaries (some longer than others), sequence breakdowns, a couple featurettes on the stunts & effects, and many trailers. There is also a Jay Z video here for those of you who like hip-hop. Not a bad set of special features. A commentary would have been nice, but sometimes those are overrated. Most of the deleted scenes are very short & just parts cut out of other scenes.

Summary: I LIKED IT BUT, SOME STUFF NEEDED TO BE CUT
Review: This was a fantastic action movie if that's what your going for. Of course It had all the comedy in all the right places that made your gut burst with laughter. I was not to impressed with the F bomb going on all through the movie not, to say that the first one wasn't the same. It is a little bit annoying how much swearing is aloud in this movie. I enjoyed most of the movie only because Martin Lawrence was in it. We have seen him in many other movie were he only has to say one f word & that be that. The only thing that is keeping me from 5 stars is the language.

Summary: Buddy action genre at its worst
Review: Once upon a time, director Michael Bay made a fun and thrilling action film called "The Rock". The box office success of that film did something do his brain, as he suddenly believed that he could do anything and everything he wanted- no action sequence was too over-the-top, no terrible line of dialogue was too embarrassing. Since "The Rock", Bay has delievered "Armageddeon" and "Pearl Harbor", two films infamous for drowning in their own self-importance, tricking the filmakers into thinking that we actually cared about the cliched characters they were making. I write all of this back story to say that all of the worst filmaking techniques that Michael Bay indulged in his two previous films are blown to outlandish proportions here. "Bad Boys II" makes "Armageddeon" look like Oscar material- if not the worst film of 2003, it was certainly one of the lamest and most disappointing.

There are many problems with this film, but the central one is that this is essentially an OK 95-minute film blown into a merciless 140-minute one. The action scenes are actually quite good, but they come so often and are so overblown that they quickly become numbing. The gore level is ridiculously high- how many times do we really need to see a bullet blowing out the back of a guy's head in slow motion? The scence where Smith and Lawrence mess around with ecstacy-stuffed corpses is downright sickening- apparently the filmakers thought this was funny. The only thing that I can recommened from "Bad Boys II" are the scenes of the comic bantering between Smith and Lawrence- they keep the film from becoming unwatchable.

I suppose Michael Bay fans will like this, but there are better ways to spend two and a half hours of your life. Go out with friends, spend time with someone you care about, watch some old classic action films. Any of these are much better than watching "Bad Boys II", and at least you will feel like you're being productive.

Summary: Not what I expected
Review: My husband and I loved the first Bad Boys movie and were looking forward to seeing part two. This movie is definitely an example of how sequals are never quite as good as the original. In this case it was no where near as good. My husband fell asleep halfway through the movie, which is a definite sign that the movie is not that good. The movie did have its funny moments but they were few and far between. The car chases were endless and the story dragged on for almost 2 and a half hours. Unless you just absolutely love any movie that Will Smith is in I wouldn't recommend it.

Summary: unclear plot, jumps around a lot
Review: Summary:
Detectives Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) are ordered by their boss to bring down the local drug Lord, Hector Juan Carlos 'Johnny' Tapia (Jordi Mollà), who is funneling ecstasy into Miami. Burnett and Lowrey quickly figure out that he is using his mortuary as a front and is trafficking the ecstasy in the coffins and dead bodies that he sends both to other countries and around the U.S.

With the help of a number of other cops, Lowrey and Burnett eventually track Tapia to Cuba where they destroy his mansion while rescuing Burnett's sister, Sydney (Gabrielle Union), who also happens to be Mike's new love interest. They make their getaway by arriving at the U.S. military base, Guantanamo Bay, and kill Tapia in the process.

My Comments:
There were a couple of funny parts in this movie. But comedy can't really make up for the lack of a consistent and coherent plot line. The movie begins with absolutely no introduction of the characters or the situation they are in. It's as if the audience is just supposed to know who Burnett and Lowrey are (in other words, see the prequel). Also unexplained by the lack of an adequate introduction is Burnett's continual discontent with his partnership. Perhaps this is explained in the first movie, but I was inclined to see this as just an excuse for Martin Lawrence to complain, which is his primary comedic tool. Additionally, how does Lowrey have enough money to afford the clothes and car that he owns? He's a cop; is he dirty? I think I heard mention in there somewhere of him having a rich parent or something. If so, why's he a cop? This made no sense, especially when he took his $200,000 + Ferrari on a high speed chase in which it was shot up. No one would do that. What's worse, despite his car, Lowrey can't seem to keep up with the people he is chasing, and they're in a rig. Come on! I could do that in my Civic.

The complete lack of an introduction then carries into the plot of this movie, which begins mid-stream as Burnett and Lowrey have already begun their investigation into the drug ring. There is never an explanation offered why these two hooligans are on the case, and considering how badly they tend to mess things up, that is probably intentional as there is absolutely no way any right-minded police chief would keep them on a case or even on the force. Nonetheless, the audience gets to witness Burnett and Lowrey bungle everything Mr. Magoo style until it all happens to fall into place and they get the bad guy.

To make things worse, the story jumps all over the place. One sequence in particular stands out. I believe Burnett and Lowrey are questioning some guy then, cut to: some stilt city house off the coast of Florida with Sydney. I have no idea why they were there or how they got there, but seeing the stilt city was cool. Maybe that's why they went there - because Will Smith and Martin Lawrence had never seen it. These jumps made the movie hard to follow, especially since there wasn't ever a clear story to follow.

The acting is mediocre but bearable. It probably would have been better if the peripheral characters weren't forced into absolutely cliché roles. The ex-military and SWAT members that end up helping Burnett and Lowrey in Cuba are all cliché tough guys. All of the bad guys helping Tapia are, of course, cliché Hispanic drug runners who can't shoot but carry automatic weapons. There is no sense of originality, other than perhaps Burnett's unexplained discontent with his job.

Overall, I didn't enjoy this movie. Sure, there are some funny parts and explosions and action, but there just isn't an engaging story to go along with it. Maybe if you absolutely loved the first one you'll want to see this. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

Summary: The Quality of DVD Authoring = Bad
Review: Bad Boys II was a great movie to watch, full of action humor. Some of the camera work for this movie was truly amazing, and a lot of original ideas were explored. but the intent of this short review unfortunately isn't all praise.

While I liked the movie, the DVD itself was disappointing. The Second disc is loaded with cool extra features that didn't disappoint. However, the main feature was flawed. Chapters 10 through 14 (From Phat's Electronics until the chapter when Smith and Lawrence pick up the KKK guy from jail and put him in the trunk) are interlaced, which is really odd. It's hard encoded 3-2 interlacing, 3 progressive frames followed by 2 interlaced ones. Watching on a normal TV, you wouldn't notice at all, as they display interlaced images. However, on any HIgh definition system (Including a computer), these 4 chapters will look like utter crap. On my home theater system which includes a High-Def Projector with a built in Ti deinterlacer, these 4 chapters still looked bad. So, in short,

IF YOU HAVE A HIGH DEFINITION SYSTEM, DO NOT BUY THIS DVD!

I think this was simply an authoring mistake, but it is one which really annoys me. I haven't seen this information posted anywhere, so I felt the need for a review. Hope this was helpful for some.
