Summary: Big Trouble is Big FUN
Review: Check your reality at the door. This movie is about a "regular guy" trucker named Jack Burton (Russell) who gets caught up in this fantastic Asian subculture menace in Little China. Make no mistake -- it's a comedy with martial arts -- but not in a Jackie Chan "in your face" way. Some of the stunts are just plain funny and the story actually fits the mood and tempo very well. It's over-the-top acting that doesn't take itself seriously -- one of Kurt Russell's better character performances. Enjoy!

Summary: Interesting Film
Review: This is a really good movie and contains some surprisingly impressive special effects.

Near the end of the film when the Lightning man is killed and falls down the hole, a Chinese character appears on the screen for a split-second. This character according to my sources is Chinese for "carpenter" the last name of the film's director

Summary: One of the best movies.
Review: Now, I don't know what it is about this movie, but for some reason this movie makes me feel comfortable. The characters are fun, the acting is great, the story is orignal. If you haven't seen this movie then what are you waiting for ORDER IT!

Summary: 90 min. Fun Filled, Action Packed, Sci Fi Adventure!
Review: Forget about Siskel and Eggbert or Leonard Malted's ridiculous reviews about this movie. THIS MOVIE IS GREAT!!!

As you can tell, yet another person loves this movie :-) I saw this movie when it was released into movie theaters way back when. Years later it came out on VHS which I purchased as soon as I saw it for sale. I have watched this movie many times over the years (on VHS and on Cable TV) and enjoyed it each and every time. One thing, which most people who did not see the movie in theaters missed out on, is the scope of the movie. This movie has a very wide aspect ratio and a lot of what the director wanted you to see is cut off when viewed on Cable TV or VHS tape (PAN and SCAN). This is no doubt a great movie for DVD because of that fact. I am very happy they finally decided to release this movie on DVD. People who did not see it in a theater who love this movie, but did see it on regular TV (PAN and SCAN), will go wild over it when they see the WIDE SCREEN version which will include all the action they missed out on with the PAN and SCAN version.

Get ready to see this movie for the first time all over again when it released on DVD. ENJOY EVERYBODY!

Summary: As fantasy comedy, this has never been beaten
Review: A John Carpenter classic, this movie is so close to perfect it's unbelievable. Not as classic cinema, not as biting satire or high drama, but as fantasy comedy or a parody of fantasy adventure movies, it's the best I've ever seen. Everybody has fun in this movie. Russell shines as an Indiana Jones/Snake Plissken parody (a parody of Snake? Yes, indeed...). Carpenter's script is, as always, a combination of light action, horror and fantasy, with his usual meticulous research into his subject matter. Yes, all of the core fantasy elements are taken from Chinese fairy tales and mythology. Great cheesy lines, wonderful Day-Glo set design, some very wierd hells, sloppy but enthusiastic wirework and a furry monster that just won't go away make this a classic. There are many better serious movies, but very few that are so much fun.

Summary: Big Trouble in Little China - Lotsa fun!
Review: Big Trouble in Little China is just a lot of fun. It's the kind of movie that Hollywood doesn't seem to be able to make anymore- a good-natured, non-serious, semi-advanced special effects film that allows you to have fun for 90 minutes. It's not going to make you forget 'Star Wars' or 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', but so what? You'll have fun, be entertained, laugh a little. You could do so much worse than this little gem! The bonus features on this disc make it an automatic buy for me-this is one flick you can't go wrong on!

Summary: Anyone who likes Martial Arts Flics and Sci Fi
Review: Anyone who likes martial arts flics and Sci Fi will love this movie. It has everything, including Kurt Russel, Kim Kattral (before "Sex in the City"), and a slew of recent martial art movie extras from the eighties. The movie has scorcery, action, and plenty of kicks (and punches, jumps, explosions, etc.). And when you talk Kurt Russel and John Carpenter, you're talking just the right amount of "campy" thown into the mix. Great fun for the whole family.

Summary: Fans of this movie are finally GREATLY rewarded!!
Review: In an unbelievable move by Fox, they are taking this somewhat obscure 1986 John Carpenter film, and giving it the ultimate 2-disc set treatment! I can't begin to describe how utterly filled with joy I am! I never thought this movie would get such a great treatment, but Fox offically proves themselves as being the best studio ever, at least DVD-wise. They know their films DO have fans out there, even if the film isn't very popular at the box-office. Look at Fight Club. Widely regarded as the best DVD ever, it only did 30 million or so at the box office, but Fox knew those that DID see the film love it intensely as I do. The same goes for this film. I love it intensely, and having a DVD of the caliber quality for it makes me so unbelievably happy I can't describe it all here. Now the next 80's gem I'd die for is "The NeverEnding Story".

Review: Another title we've all known about for a while has now been tapped as official: Big Trouble In Little China will hit DVD as a 2-disc Special Edition on May 22nd! Disc 1 will feature the film with a brand-new digitally remastered anamorphic transfer and both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS soundtracks! Also included on Disc 1 will be an Audio Commentary track with John Carpenter and Kurt Russell. Disc 2 will be loaded with treats, including: Deleted Scenes, an Alternate Ending, a new Making-of Documentary from DVD producer David Prior(Fight Club), an extensive Stills and Promo Art Gallery, DVD-ROM interactive material, and much MORE. MSRP will be a VERY fair $26.99, and this amazing 2-disc set is already available for pre-order! When we visited Fox last November, we were treated to a sneak of this set and the DVD menus. Trust me, it's going to be nice... and the wait for those of us who are fans of the film will be more than rewarded. Fox is taking charge of DVD... that's for sure. And it's also worth mentioning that on that same day (5/22) they will also be releasing the cool Point Break disc we told you about. It's not a "Special Edition", but will receive nice treatment including a new anamorphic transfer and both Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks! A fun film that is sure to be a worthy DVD!

Summary: There's some big trouble in little China
Review: In "Big Trouble in Little China," Jack (Kurt Russell) and Wang (Dennis Dun) go on a search for Wang's fiance. A sorcerer named Lo Pan (James Hong) wants to marry Wang's fiance because she has green eyes, even though she's Chinese. But finding Lo Pan and getting Wang's fiance back will be no easy task because they will have to go through other sorcerers, fight a lot of people, and survive many traps in order to do so. To give them some much needed help, Egg Shen (Victor Wong) teams up with them.

"Big Trouble in Little China" is a great movie. Everything about it is great. It has elements of many different kinds of movies such as comedy, action, adventure, and even horror to just name a few. The special effects with the magic are well done, the monsters look cool, the martial arts fights are exciting, the acting is good, and even the score goes great with the movie.

In this movie, there really was big trouble in little China. I recommend anybody who likes great movies to get "Big Trouble in Little China."
