Summary: Shows the everyday struggles that a firefighter faces...
Review: Two brother firefighters (one a rookie and one a hot dog!) competing with each other to be like their father which was killed due to an arson fire. The firedepartment fights fires and tries to put the pieces together to find out who the arsonist is that is burning the city and killing firefighters. This movie shows the struggles a firefighter faces both with personnel and with the nature of fire. You never know when your time is up!!!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: This is a great movie. Great Special effects and sounds
Review: Coming from a firefighter, this is the best firefighting movie I have seen. The special effects and sounds make the movie action packed from the "first alarm" I highly recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: DVD was made for a movie like this!
Review: Backdraft is one of those movies where it touches every one of your emotions. It has great action, excellent acting-Ron Howard at his best. With DVD, the sound during the fire scenes is spectacular! I highly recommend this film!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great suspense and action
Review: The special effects in Backdraft were especially good. I thoroughly enjoyed the great explosions and multiple fire scenes. William Baldwin and Kurt Russel hardly look like brothers, but they both did an excellent job in acting like brothers. I read the book, and Ron Howard effectively portrayed everything in there. WELL DONE!!

Summary: Good suspense and drama keeps one focused on the action.
Review: Both my wife and I were in suspense throughout the film. At the end my wife even cried. We had just bought a DVD player and picked this as our first movie. Unfortunatly, We did not check its rating. Too late we found that there was heavy use of four-letter words like f-ing, and GD. That did away any desire to see it again. I cannot recommend it because of its excessive use of profanity.

Summary: A Techno Bust
Review: A poor representation of modern firefighting! Even Kurt Russel's lungs would be seared by the heat and toxic fire gases generated in the "save my baby" scene where he races to the top of the stairs and into the burning room. The portrayal of a backdraft as a sinister beast is but one of many technically flawed representations in this flick.

Summary: contains the cheesiest scene in the history of cinema
Review: this is a good movie with tremendous special effects and your standard cliche movie plot. However the movie stands out in my mind with kurt "king of cheese" russells melodramatic scene at the end of the movie. the "thats my brother godd*mmit..." was the cheesiest line i have ever witnessed in my 21 years. that alone is worth the price of the video. i often fast foward to that part just so i can laugh till i lose my voice!

Summary: FIRE, up close and personal
Review: Ron Howard's riveting look at the world of firefighting through the eyes of a traditional Chicago Fire Dept. firefighting clan. While actual firefighters will roll their eyes occasionally at the use of dramatic license, most will be drawn to the semi-realistic look inside what it takes to be the people running IN to a fire. Watch for Donald Sutherland in the "supporting" role that nearly steals the show, and Robert DeNiro as the fire investigator that gets to put all the pieces together. While some of it is wildly unbelievable (who goes into a burning warehouse with just one hose ??), the remainder of the story will keep viewers wondering which way the plot will go next; and if there is a dry eye left at the end, you must have gone out for more popcorn during the big ending.

Summary: Firefighter brothers try to solve their relationship
Review: This is a great film giving a real insight into the jobs and lifes of firefighters, with excellent special effects helping it along the way. The film starts off in the early 70s with a young (very young!) William Baldwin going with his father on what should be a routine fire but tragically Brian sees his father die in front of him. 20 years later we see Brian (Billy Baldwin) and Steven (Kurt Russell) Mccaferey estranged brothers having to work together in the same fireforce, and try to make up their relationship and solve the case of a arsonist going around Chicago killing official type people. Russell and Baldwin are suberb as the fueding brothers and are supported by a great ensemble cast (Robert De Niro, Donald Sutherland, Scott Glenn and others) This is an excellent film to watch I highly reccemend it.
