Summary: Let's Be Realistic
Review: I took my kids (4&5) to this movie and they lauged so hard they could hardly sit still. I too found it amusing in several places. I was pleasently suprised because the previews that I have seen on TV did not do it justice. I walked in to this movie expecting the worst. It is full of slapstick, but the story was over my kids heads. If you go in not expecting the typical Cuba Gooding Jr. role and take it for what it is, a clean lighthearted movie that you can actually take your kids to, then you will enjoy it. As for the rest of the audience, it was a sold out show and I think the adults had as much fun as the kids did.

Summary: Movie was decent
Review: This movie was a decent enough movie. I liked that it had Huskies in it since I own a husky, but the previews made it seem like the movie would be about the dogs, but instead it was more about Cuba Gooding Jr.'s character and his life. If you call a movie Snow Dogs, the movie should be about the dogs. It would have been cuter had they just made the dogs more stars than they were and put the actors in the background.

Summary: A Light-hearted Romp
Review: Cuba Gooding, Jr. shines in this light-hearted, light-weight romp in the snow. Kids of all ages will be diverted by this latest Disney fare, which has all the predictable elements to tug at your heart (and your wallet). James Coburn also makes a memorable character and gives a decent performance for a script perhaps beneath both Gooding and Coburn.

Summary: A FUNNY AND FURRY ADVENTURE!!!
Review: Snow Dogs is a laugh a minute adventure into the world of sled dog racing. Cuba Gooding Jr. is a Miami dentist who inherits a team of champion sled dogs and finds out he was adopted.Over the course of the movie he discovers his true place in life. The dogs are cute and steal the action sequences. Finally, a family film that everyone can enjoy. No hocus-pocus or scary stuff!! The only magic here is the power of love between family and friends and the occational winking of the sled dogs. Don't miss this latest Disney classic!

Summary: Boring
Review: I hate it!! This movie has a terrible script and I have to admit it is funny from time to time but mostly it's lame Cuba should have not be in this movie. he deserves to be in a better movie with action!!!!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: (...)See it if you have kids that are interested
Review: I caught this film at an advanced screening ... this film is just bad. it's not even 'stupid' funny. Cuba Gooding Junior deserves a razzie award for his over-the-top, sitcomish portrayal of a man who inherits a dog sled team. This movie was made for the sole purpose of cash. It's an obvious direct-to-video film that was put in theaters so the families can take their little kids to see it in the winter.

problems:
1-cuba gooding jr - it's fun to see him thrown around for the first half hour, but eventually it gets old. his performance is also absolutely terrible.

2-writing - most predictable film ever. I knew exactly what would happen and who would win before the races even started. Terrible script

These are my main gripes. The film is just bad. One thing it has going for it though is the dogs. Very cute wolves and huskeys. If you're looking this winter, this 2002 to see a black man pushing around huskeys and wolves, in a slightly amusing way, go see it. It's not like the film had much potential anyway. It did what it set out to do which is entertain kids (the kids in my audience did laugh a lot, but none of the adults). Bottom line: if your kids really like the dogs, and have a lot of interest, take them to the matinee, otherwise steer clear and rent Shrek.

Summary: Funny, and family-friendly
Review: What do you get when you cross a successful dentist from Miami with the bitter artic cold and a pack of mushing hounds? Snow Dogs, the movie released from Disney in 2001.

This review is from a Christian male 17-year old who has never seen any R-rated movies, and doesn't plan to either, just so you know. If it helps one person decide yes or no on a movie, then it's been worth it. And besides...movie reviewing is fun!

PLOT:
Ted Brooks (played by Cuba Gooding Jr.) is a successful dentist in rural Miami, with a great job, a nice car, and a great apartment. When he receives a notice that his Mom, his REAL Mom has just passed away in Alaska, and left him an inheritance, his life is shaken up. His kindly adopted mom explains that she had so wanted him to have a normal life that she had never told him about his real mother.
So, in the classic tradition of greenhorn-goes-west, Ted catches a plane to Alaska to claim his inheritance. When he finally arrives, he finds Tolketna, a scrawny little town in the wilderness, and the people that knew his Mom, Lucy as one of their own
Barb, the operator of the local watering hole, takes Ted to his mother's rustic cabin, where Ted explores his mother's legacy inside. He gets quite a shock when he discovers seven rambunctious and raucous snow dogs and one mild-mannered border collie staying inside the home.
The rest of the movie is classic fun as Ted attempts to learn how to drive his new Snow Dogs, encounters the beautiful winter countryside, and becomes accustomed to his new environment.

GOOD POINTS:
Ted's mom is a great gal, helping out at his dentist's office and being supportive of Ted's venture into the artic. Ted's devotion to his father in spite of his father's rejection is exemplary, There is no swearing, and the only violence is shown in a comical cartoon-style. This movie is just a light-hearted comedy.

BAD POINTS:
There aren't many bad points, but what little there is I'm going to list, just in case there are some careful parents out there. Ted, being taught dentistry by his adopted father at a young age, is shown for an instant vomiting after viewing a patient's decaying teeth.
Ted is bitten on the behind by Demon, the lead dog, and on another occasion, when Ted mocks the dog, the dog urinates on the tree Ted is in.
There are two instances where the movie causes you to think something bad is coming, but veers off in a comical manner. (Examples, Ted encounters a giant grizzly bear, and exclaims "Oh...oh my GOODNESS GRACIOUS!" Ted also cuddles with Barb in front of a campfire, and the next scene is Ted awakening in bed. He smiles, and turns to his bed partner, who turns out to be nothing more than the border collie, Nana.
A one-night encounter in a cave that led to Ted's birth, is briefly described, but a way that does not focus on the encounter itself, but the events thereafter.
In a black-out dream sequence, Ted dreams that, among other things, Barb is talking to him on a beach wearing a bikini, but this quickly fades back to real life. Ted also takes a walk on the beach, and you can see several sunbathers in the background, but nothing is shown or emphasized.

THOUGHTS:
I have to make this plain to dispel any ideas you may have from previews; the dogs do NOT talk in the movie. If you've seen any previews, that's what you could easily think, but it ain't true.

This movie is pure, light-hearted fun, and promises lots of laughs if you buy it. It is a great film family-friendly film for people of all ages. Recommended at seven stars. (That's my private rating, with ten being the highest)

Summary: The Dogs are the true stars of this fun movie!!!!
Review: This film is hilarious!!! I wish I had seen this movie sooner. I laughed, and laughed, and laughed some more!!! Dr. Brooks is a dentist with a wonderful dental practice in Miami. He finds out he has to go to Alaska, and his mother has to finally reveal a secret that will turn his world upside down. He finds out he was adopted, and going to Alaska he will learn about his true birth mother, but he also finds out about his birth father. Ted finds out he inherits some snow race dogs, which he is not thrilled with. Ted HATES dogs with a passion. Well it turns out the dogs don't like him much either, and that's when the fun really begins!

As anxious as he is to return to Miami, he finds himself starting to appreciate the low key town, but he is especially drawn to Barb (Joanna Balcaso - My Baby Daddy). Ted wants to prove he hang so he tries to learn the sport, and again you get a ton of laughs as he tries to control the dogs. I'm not a dog lover, but even I could not help but fall in love with the canine stars in this film. Especially Demon and Nana. The dream sequence is quite enjoyable. James Coburn is wonderful as Thunder Jack the "father", and he keeps harassing Ted into giving him the dogs. Nichelle Nicholos was simply GORGEOUS in this film. Just stunning!!!

Some of the funnier moments in the film:

1. Teds first encounter with the dogs will leave you in tears because you will be laughing so hard.

2. Ted trying to get the dogs to Mush, and the dogs taking him on a wild, wild ride.

Please ignore the reviews that trash this film. This is a film that will leave you with that feel good feeling when it's all over!! This is a film for the whole family to sit down together and enjoy. I enjoyed this movie so much, I plan to add it to my collection. My niece would love this film.

Summary: Cuba Good for Nothing Jr.
Review: This movie is corny. Cuba is so whack. He has lost his roots that he was once true to in movies like Boys in the Hood. Who would have tought that his first movie would be his best. Snow dogs has a stupid plot and the movie is very dumb. CUBA YOU SUCK YOU NEED TO GO KICK ROCKS.
