Rating: Summary: SAVE YOUR MONEY Review: I love any movie with Jon Voight with the exception of Anaconda. John Voight has acted in classics such as Deliverence and Midnight Cowboy. Why on earth would he agree to act in this movie. I read the case in the video store and it sounded like a very exciting and suspenseful movie. Boy was I wrong!! I think that this movie would have been much better without the extremely fake looking special effects. Also I think that if the script and direction would have been better thought out then this movie would have been watchable. The premise was there but it was ruined by poor production. This could have been a really cool movie.
Rating: Summary: Good to watch once Review: This movie i would honestly say had its good parts. I'm not gonna say so that i can spoil it for you but I would not recommend going out and buying it. Rent it. its an okay movie. Jennifer Lopez isn't looking her best in this movie. That's also another reason that this movie wasn't the greatest.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining B-movie schlock. Review: When critiquing a movie like "Anaconda", it is important to remember that you must not judge it so seriously. It is primarily what it is: a fluff piece of Saturday night popcorn-eating cinema, a grand waste of time not without some redeemable points. The story centers around a sociologist (Eric Stoltz) who plans an expedition down the Amazon River in South America in search of the fabled Shirishama tribe; he collaborates with long-time associate Jennifer Lopez, and a cast of others who are there to film the voyage. On the way, the crew pick up Paul Cerrone (Jon Voight), who is stranded in the middle of the raging river during a storm. Once aboard, Cerrone becomes an ominous presence; things seem to be taking a turn for the worse when a humongous anaconda (a sort of predatory snake) makes itself known, and the expedition becomes a personal crusade by Cerrone to apprehend the beast...alive! The effects are serviceable, but are not going to blow you away. The acting is really much better, but Voight as the villanous Cerrone really climbs up the ham meter with his constant toothy leers. Ice Cube and Jonathan Hyde are humorous supporting cast members, the former a streetwise camera operator, the latter the smarmy English narrator. If anything, Lopez and Kari Wuhrer (late of MTV's former gameshow "Remote Control") are nice to look at. Sure, "Anaconda" is formulaic horror fare, but it is one of those cheesy movies you love to watch when you have nothing better to do. Much of the film was shot on location, and the Amazonian scenery is pleasant to watch.
Rating: Summary: BAD BAD BAD Review: This form would not let me get this review on the air, so to speak, until I gave this BAD movie at least one star. DISREGARD that single star! This movie should have NO star! The people who like this movie need to get a life! ANY life! This movie is BAD. It is BAD. The acting is BAD. The script is BAD. The special effects are BAD. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS MOVIE IS B-A-D. It is SO BAD it ISN'T EVEN FUNNY BAD. It's just BAD. And you know what, it is so BAD nobody should even care how BAD it is. BAD. BAD. BAD.
Rating: Summary: Not What I really Expected Review: This movie wasn't all that i expected it to be. I figured that a movie about a killer snake would tell me something about a scary movie but it wasn't. This was the most pathetic excuse for a movie that i have ever seen. I will admit though that this movie had its moments but there were just some pure boring parts that i think made this movie as bad as I saw it. I gave this movie 2 Stars
Rating: Summary: Not as Bad as You'd Think Review: Okay. Right off the bat, Jon Voight has never been worse. His role as a villainous snake-catcher, complete with pony tail and a Marlon Brando voice, is one of those lets chew up the scenery roles that many excellent actors do. Maybe it's just for fun, like play acting as a child again. At any rate, that said, the film is entertaining as a "B" movie, reminiscent of those great B movies of the fifties and sixties. The snake effects are at times good and other times, mediocre. The plot is mundance and the characters aren't given much background or substance, but as in any "horror" or "giant beast" movie, who really cares. It does have some suspenseful moments, and Jennifer Lopez looks great in a wet t-shirt. Ice Cube is about as frozen as his name, and poor Owen Wilson----he certainly did go to the Keanu Reeves blank school of acting. But it's good as an entertaining mindless drivel.
Rating: Summary: Dumb-dee-dumb-dumb Review: Well, I didn't have tremendously high expectations for this film and even so, I was a bit disappointed. I can't say there was much acting at all (no, that's not exactly true, the snake did give a half-way decent performance). Everyone in the film was irritating and the science very suspect (I've never heard of a snake regurgitating its dinner to go after something else). The snake-effects is the only reason why I give this film one star.
Rating: Summary: One of the funniest B-Movies ever! Review: I love this movie! The first time I saw it, I expected a decent horror film and was very disappointed with the lousy acting, terrible script and cheap special effects. My wife, however, opened my eyes to the comic brilliance of the film, particularly Jon Voight's hilarious performance of the Ahab-like poacher determined to capture a giant snake. I now see the movie in a completely different light. Everyone in the movie is awful! Voight's accent is a Brazilian/Cajun mess (I swear it changes from scene to scene!), Jennifer Lopez looks clueless, Ice Cube just grimaces the whole time and gives everyone dirty looks and Eric Stolz is just along for a paycheck. The snake looks like a cheap rubber novelty toy and the ending is so cliched it could've been written by a grade schooler. But thanks to the ineptitude of the cast and crew, Anaconda is one seriously funny movie. BUY IT!
Rating: Summary: It is not bad It is not good. Review: This movie is not bad becuse Mrs.Lopez acts in this movie and some scenes are so watchable. It is not so good because its sfx are not so well designed and the snakes are not looked so real.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: This DVD is pretty good. It has good action, it can be funny, and it usually keeps you out of your seat. This movie deserves 4 of 5 stars.
