Summary: Extremely Gory Dinosaur Action/Horror Flick!
Review: PLOT: A mad scientist, Dr. Jane Tiptree (Diane Ladd), has created a virus to wipe out humankind. The virus makes women give birth to carnivorous dinosaurs, who grow up quite fast and begin chomping on people. A security guard named Doc Smith (Raphael Sbarge) and a tree-hugging enviormentalist named Ann Thrush (Jennifer Runyon) find this out and try to stop Dr. Tiptree before it's too late. Color, 83 minutes, Rated R (Extremely graphic violence and language).
REVIEW: I think this was a pretty much okay dinosaur movie. Everything is pretty much good, but the dinosaur effects... well, let's just say they're no Jurassic Park (1993). Since it was made by Roger Corman, it's automatically a B-movie. Also, there is a subplot about government soldiers shooting people left and right just becuase of the virus, which I think is unneeded. Also, this movie is extremely gory, with dinosaurs ripping people to shreds. But, all the violence makes this movie sort of fun.

Review: The film isn't that bad. It's kind of interesting. The special effects (if you could call them special), however, aren't up to the standards established by "Jurassic Park." I mean what did you expect? But "Carnosaur" is quite impressive and entertaining. You'll probably like it if you're fond of Godzilla movies.The story of "Carnosaur" is about a female scientist (Diane Ladd) who wants to put an end to humanity and return the world to the dinosaurs, "The Age of Wonders." The dinosaurs are returned to the world at first by injecting DNA into chickens. The dinosaurs then hatch from the chickens' eggs. Later, a virus is formed, infecting people and causing women to give birth to the behemoths. The end to the film is not what one would expect, but if you enjoy some-what low-tech special effects, far fetched storys, and violance that's kind of cheezy, then "Carnosaur" is the one for you.

Summary: A film only a Green Brother could love
Review: This artless stenchbomb was created by Adam Simon with the blessing of the great Roger Corman. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because some of the scenes are (inadvertantly, unfortunately) kind of funny. The plot, as best I can make it out, is that Dr. Jane Tiptree (Diane Ladd), a cynical, disgruntled scientist who is some sort of governmental wunderkind geneticist, has been experimenting on her own for a couple of years on a poultry farm in the Nevada desert (Well, it's a really cool poultry farm with lasers and state of the art surveillance equipment and stuff). Dr. Tiptree despises humanity and this is what she has done about it: she has created and released some kind of an airborne virus that all of the townsfolk are coming down with. This virus is kind of like a cold, in that it gives men a fever, sneezing, congestion, etc. It affects women in much the same way - well, with one small exception: infected women get a cold and then suddenly go into a spontaneous and violent labor, as copious amounts of bluish stuff and green carnivorous dinosaurs burst out, killing the hapless 'mom'. You have to admit that women have it really tough in this movie. In this way (by killing all of the females) Dr. Tiptree plans to eradicate homo sapiens. Well, a lot of men get killed, too, but not by giving birth - they only get eaten by the dinosaurs. One of the (many) puzzling scenes in this movie: a bunch of ecologically-minded activists have chained themselves to construction equipment in an attempt to prevent further work. A Tyrannosaurus Rex wanders up to a sleeping activist. The activist awakens, smiles at the T. Rex and amiably says, 'Greetings, green brother!', whereupon the Tyrannasaurus attacks him, rips his face off and then eats most of him. Now, here is my question: was this guy expressing biological solidarity to a fellow lifeform, was he greeting a green-colored (ie, politically correct) reptile, or was the guy JUST PLAIN STUPID?@! Diane Ladd actually does a rather job in this lamentably bad movie. I'm afraid it cannot even be recommended to the blood-gore fans, as the violence is not even particularly imaginative. The only real highlight in the film is Clint Howard's great diner sequence. Howard vividly portrays 'Friar', a disgusting local type who grosses out a prissy couple in the diner with his graphic tales of violence and mayhem, all the while snarfing down his dinner. So, I would only recommend this movie for diehard Clint howard fans, or masochistic types who want to experience a very, very, very bad dinosaur flick.

Summary: Now here's a Dinosaur movie!
Review: This is a favorite movie of mine simply because (A) it's entertaining and (B) there is nothing else like it. Take a vicious pack of phony-but-awesome dinosaurs, morbid black humor, loads and loads of gory violence, creepiness in every shape and form, and a completely outrageous and very original plot, and you would get Carnosaur. I absolutely love this movie. The acting is excellent, the directing is excellent, everything is excellent with the exception of the special effects, which are still very entertaining if not entirely convincing. In the end, the only complaint I had about this movie was that it had almost nothing to do with the original novel by Harry Adam Knight (which I also read and loved). In fact, the only things this movie has to do with the book is that the movie took the basic premise of a mad scientist trying to give the world back to the dinosaurs by mixing fossil dino DNA with chicken DNA to create the beasts and then sick them on humanity. It also borrowed a few of the kill scenes from the novel. That's it. Everything else is changed. This doesn't detract from the enjoyment and thrill factor though, and this movie still is well worth seeing for those who aren't stupid enough to expect Jurrasic Park-like special effects in every dino flick they see, which was, last time I checked, about 90% of the United States population. If you liked this, you might also enjoy the two sequels which are just as much fun, but not as good, original, or dark.

Summary: one of those little low-budget movies that could
Review: This is a Roger Corman rip-off of Jurassic Park but they worked damn hard in the claymation and firework special effects department. Actually, it is one of those little low-budget movies that could, pulling off some tension before its workable dinosaur-gnawing-humans moments. The mother of Laura Dern is featured in this one, and she has some kind of maniacal plan to have dinosaurs over-run us humans. One spewing and gushing scene has the birth of Little Dino from Momma Human.

Review: This is an entertaining movie which is worth buying . . . not an Oscar contender by any measure, but a fun movie that is entertaining. The writing is weak, acting poor, and special effects (if you can call them that) are terrible, but in the end, it is an film that you will get up from your chair and say "wow, that was kinda cool in it's own way . . . " Check it out!
