Rating: Summary: A new take on love Review: Ah, the moral dilemmas of being a celibate hit man. Eddie Jones (Courtney B. Vance) is an eliminator and part of an elite group of government-hired assassins who are paid to kill terrorists, arms dealers and many other variations of bad guys. He has little problem pulling the trigger, but refuses to sleep with a woman before marriage. After making his first kill early in his career, Eddie made a deal with God that he would not have sex until he was married. He decided that this would enable him to keep his conscience and his religion. Much like Eddie's two-faced moral rationale, Love and Action in Chicago tries to be original, but ends up following the predictable path of many other films. Eddie is among the most effective of the eliminators. He never misses a hit. However, his friends and family want him to focus a little less on work and more on play. His mother complains to him in telephone conversations that she wants grandchildren. His friend and co-worker, Martin (Michael Gilio), wants Eddie to go out and find a girl. Middleman (Kathleen Turner), Eddie's boss, goes a step further and sets Eddie up on a blind date with Lois (Regina King). Their relationship gets off to a rocky start, but after much persistence by Lois, Eddie finally begins to fall for a girl. With his love life looking up, Eddie's work quality goes down. Lois is a distraction, causing Eddie to miss an important hit, and encouraging a decline in his desire to be an eliminator. The deeper Eddie falls in love, the more trouble he finds himself getting in, until finally he decides to make a big change. Unfortunately, eliminators who make big changes are considered a threat to security and must be permanently retired. The first half of Love and Action in Chicago is funny, with an enjoyable lightness mixed in with some quirky situations. But as the film rolls on and the plot unfolds, things become somewhat predictable. The final product ends up being a failed cross between Marathon Man and Grosse Pointe Blank. Many ex-television stars make appearances at various points in the film. Seinfeld's Jason Alexander manages to break free from his George Castanza typecast and turns in a solid performance as Frank, Eddie's ex-boss. The Mary Tyler Moore Show's Ed Asner is not nearly as successful as another one of the agency's bosses. A good effort with humor and the return of some familiar faces, Love and Action in Chicago is a whirlwind of unpredictability set in the Windy City.
Rating: Summary: Great show Review: All I know is that the soundtrack caught me just as much as the movie. After the first three or four cuts, I was like I got to have the soundtrack! And being a courteous fan of Regina King, by the first few scenes featuring her, I wanted the movie! Courtney held his own as well! All I know, furthermore, is that before the movie was half way over, I wanted both! It was a great movie although the ending became predictable; but I didn't care because the solid R&B soundtrack carried the movie by this point. They complimented each other. While the movie is readily available, does anybody have the soundtrack?...LOL!

Rating: Summary: INTREST IN SOUNDTRACK Review: I AM VERY INTRESTED IN BUYING SOUNDTRACK I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND TO PURCHASE. IF SOME ONE COULD FIND INFO.
Rating: Summary: ONE OF MY FAVORITES!! Review: I love, love, love this movie! I caught it on cable late one night and I had to find it and buy it. The plot has it all. Suspense, romance, action and plot twists. It is funny and you really like all of the characters, even the ones who may not be the nicest of people. There is a stellar cast with Courtney Vance, Regina King, Ed Asner and Kathleen Turner all in roles that are somewhat different for them, which makes it even more fun to watch. On a rainy Saturday afternoon, when you want to curl up with some food that is bad for you and a movie that is good to you, this is the one!

Rating: Summary: Love and Action in Chicago Review: I really enjoyed Love and Action in Chicgo with Regina King, Courtney Vance, Kathleen Turner, Ed Asner, and Jason Alexander. It offered a great combination of suspense and love.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Review: I really enjoyed this movie which shows that a lot of good movies are not allowed a fair chance in the theaters. I believe this film would have done pretty good at the box office...oh well. Anyway this is a delightful little story about an uptight government assassinator Eddie ( Courtney B. Vance ) who wants to get out of the business of killing. His boss, Middleman ( Kathleen Turner ) is against the idea and keeps sending him on jobs he doesn't want to do. Both of these actors had wonderful chemistry. Anyway, Eddie agrees to a blind date set up by Middleman. Thinking he's meeting a woman more his standards, his date turns out to be Lois ( Regina King ) and Eddie is not at all impressed. Lois is beautiful, funny and a great catch but she's flighty and gets on Eddie's nerves. This is when the humor truly kicks in. Lois assumes a slight stalking personality. She pops up everywhere Eddie is and no matter how hard he tries to resist her, he can't. Eddie's ready to throw her over a building once she botches up a very important hit. By this point it's obvious he's fallen for her. Eddie does everything in his power not to admit he likes Lois. It's plain to see he does. What man in his right mind wouldn't want Regina King? Anyway, we soon find out the reason for this is because he doesn't want to admit he may fall in love with her. This poses two huge problems for Eddie because: 1. He's sworn off sex for religious reasons. 2. He's a professional killer and he's not sure how Lois will take that. Once Lois is set up by Eddie's former boss ( Jason Alexander )who has now turned crooked, Eddie reveals his profession to Lois. She leaves him only to come back to him and admit she's fallen in love. The two get married and end up comically fighting for their lives against a team of " bad " guys. This film was equipped with good dialogue, interesting characters and lots of laughs. This film may be hard to get your hands on but when you do it is worth it. I hope this little gem doesn't eventually disappear into the valley of " out-of-print " films. This is a genuine comedy that needs to stick around. If you're lucky you may catch it on Cinemax like I did.
Rating: Summary: Great show Review: I stumbled upon this great film while channel cruising and would not stop watching until I found out the title. This film showed a different, but wonderful side of the usually very serious, very conservative Courntey, but it showed that he is even great in comedy. The pairing of Courtney and Regina was suberb, they really flowed together as a couple. The chemistry between them was on the money.
Rating: Summary: The TITLE SAYS IT ALL!! Review: It was 5 am when I heard a voice that I love to hear.. Courtney B. Vance. He was in my home giving me a new movie to add to my library. Eddie (Vance) and Lois (Regina King) were the most balanced and well written charcters that I have seen in a long time. This movie has love, action, supense, a tear jearker and music that had me replaying a scene just to hear the piece. Of course, I would say this one selection should be their theme song.(When she first kisses him. I love it!)An award winner for music, drama/action and direction. I need to know if I could purchase the soundtrack? I have found the movie and I can stop renting it. Thanks. Godiva Anderson
