Summary: a terrible waste of time and money
Review: I saw this movie yesterday. My, was I disappointed! It was nothing more than the story of 5 friends who decided to go ski in a mountain range for a commercial. While there they accidentally filmed a wartime criminal who had previously feigned his death in a plane crash. It is often hard to follow the story, and the whole thing drags on ad infinitum. I hardly sleep at a movie; I did while watching this tripe.
75% of the movie consisted of overjoyed men and women skiing all over the place. This is the only part that might appeal to teens who are into such things. If you saw the trailer,you would remember there was something about some terrorists who were trying to blow up the world? That was addedd at the end (about 3% of the movie). It made very little sense.
Overall, this movie was grossly misrepresented in the trailer. I gave it 1 star because I couldn't do less. It is a complete waste of time and money. Should you decide to go see it, make sure you sip a cup of coffee before you go, as you might need it to stay awake.

Summary: VERY ENTERTAINING.
Review: I thought this was a very entertaining and fun film to watch.
I thought the film was a little boring and dry during the first 20-30 minutes. During the first 20-30 minutes when the characters were in the New York ad office, I got the impression the film was boring and wasn't going to get better, but I was wrong. After leaving New York for the snowy mountains the film became very entertaining and fun. I would have paid to see the film a second time, but the film only lasted 2 or 3 weeks at the AMC movie theater (this was obviously a very low budget film). I didn't think the film was going to get any better, but it did. The skiiers had to dodge being a rouge politcal outlaw in the mountains. the film has two of the skiiers outmaneuvering an avalanch on one scene and another of the skiier as a trick to his fellow skiier, feining to be falling to his death when he is cut from the bungie that was sustaining him, but opens his parachute as he falls down the mountain. I don't know the actresses name, but for me I thought the actress with the jet-black hair, who played an extreme skiier who didn't think skiing down mountains "that had been skiied 100 times before" was very beautiful and vivacious throughout the movie. She alone was worth the price of admission.

Summary: good but not great
Review: I'm an action and horror movie fanatic so did I like this movie. I guess I did after I got through the horrible plotting. It was a guilty pleasure that pretty much noone besides my friend Robert would thoroughly enjoy. I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone in my right mind but I would watch it again. That's all I have to say about this.

Summary: Extreme Ops...Not Quite "To The Extreme"
Review: If "Extreme Ops" could be best described as a sandwich, well, the outermost sections (the slices) are there, while the contents (the filling) are mostly filler. This film contains very little hooks to grab the viewer's attention, and, what's worse, the storyline just drags on and on in certain places, but, this necessarily doesn't make this movie not worth plunking out any "bread" for. All the action scenes are skillfully carried out, and are absolutely breathtaking, and that goes double for the physical scenery - even though "Extreme Ops"' storyline takes place in the Austrian Alps, I have to wonder if these particular mountains were actually substituted for the Rocky Mountains for budgetary reasons. For frequent airport hoppers, the airport scenes at the beginning of the film were shot at Vancouver (Canada) International Airport. Another aspect of this movie I found to be rather weak, are the terrorist scenes. This part of the script is absolutely atrocious, nevertheless unbelievable. Overall, even with an all-unknown cast, "Extreme Ops" isn't a bad movie, albeit for a few rough edges which needed to be smoothed out better. Seeing as how director Christian Duguay did an excellent job at making do with what he was given to work with (especially in the daredevil stunts and action scenes departments), "Extreme Ops" is still worth an occasional view, but primarily recommended for extreme skiing buffs only.

Summary: Extremely Bad
Review: If someone went to the trouble of describing the plot of Extreme Ops to you, before you saw it, you would swear that it sounds like it might be a half way descent actioner. Unfortunately, the actual film isn't even that good, at that low standard. The plot, such as it is, involves an extreme sports team, filmming a commercial, using gold medal skier Chloe Weston (Bridgette Wilson), outrunning a man made avalanche. As the director (Rufus Sewell), his cameraman Will Flaky, (Devon Sawa), and the rest of the crew settle in, they get more than they bargained for. The team inadvertantly stumble upon a Serbian warlord, and his cohorts hiding out in an unfinished resort, atop a mountain. Sort of like Die Hard on a ski slope if you will. Now, I can accept that premise if done right. Sure, the plot is nothing new, therefore, it's all about excution. The main problem with the film is that it takes at least 50 minutes for the central plot to take hold. Up until that time, the movie concerns itself with dopey subplots about love connections, and hackneyed character conflicts. The action sequences are nicely staged but there's not enough of them to carry the film's plot. The cast somehow manages to muddle through. Poor director Christian Duquay should have seen that this film was trouble from the start. I think Paramount knew they had a stinker on their hands and had no faith in the movie. The powers that be decided not to include any extras about the movie itself on the DVD. What else do you get, you ask? Viewers can watch Extreme Ops in either the widescreen or fullscreen formats. A trailer gallery with "previews" for Star Trek Nemesis and Abandon is all there is. Extreme Ops isn't even a good bad film. It doesn't really qualify as a guilty pleasure either...

Summary: Extremely Annoying
Review: If you like action flicks with absolutely no intelligence this movie will appeal to your deepest of hearts, but for those of you who prefer a plot and something that makes at least a little sense....skip it.
A sports camera crew sets out to find the most daring of extreme sports heroes so that it can film an action movie in the Alps. They recruit a couple of crazy snow-boarders, helicopter pilots willing to outrun avalanches and then they toss in a pretty and dainty Olympic skier for good measure and some eye candy. The entire film consists of the frilly skier competing with the fearless snow boarders for attention and film time. They get thrown out of helicopters at high altitude without any oxygen and wearing barely any clothes but they never freeze...funny how that happens in movies! The real amazing feat is how they ski downhill in front of a major avalanche and can still talk to one another...have you ever heard how loud an avalanche is? Thank goodness for those sub-atomic hearing aids!! Eventually European terrorists enter the picture and a few automatic weapons (something has to encourage those slow moving avalanches). Well you know how it goes.
The action is great and if you like skiing some of the stunts are literally unbelievable but other than that I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone with half a brain because you will just be frustrated with all of the impossibilities and missed reasons for people to die. I only watched it because I was forced into it by a couch potato with a remote.

Summary: good eye candy
Review: ok, while not the best of fims in this gendra, it does have some great scenery, and if you happen to have a HDVT, or equivalent this DVD will be worth the rental just for the visuals. The action, when it happens is good enough to keep you entertained, and of course, Bridgette Wilson-Sampras is worth watching anyway. So all in all, not a bad film to keep you entertained.

Summary: Not a Bad lil movie
Review: Okay, like I said, not a bad movie...was it fantastic? No, but was worth seeing. Think of this as a poor mans xXx. This is about a commercial company who wants to make a commerical with extereme sports people. Soon some terrorists get involved, and the extereme sports people have to use their extereme sports skills to escape the terrorists. Like I said, it was a poor man's xXx. The only real issue is that I wished they'd use more of the extereme sports to escape. They just did it once. What I did like was the visuals and the camera work. This was a good was to kick back and burn off stress of the day. If you like this sort of thing (I could take or leave extereme sports) then you may want to check this out.

Summary: Not the greatest movie ever made...but not the worst.
Review: Personally, i rented this movie because of Devon Sawa. i think that he is an amazing actor, and even though i thought it was a good movie...i think he can act a much better role, he didn't even have a big part in the movie. i liked it though, there was some action and anyone who likes extreme sports or snowboarding will probably like this movie. i couldn't say that i found the movie great but it was entertaining and even though the storyline was a little flat at times i still liked it. they could have done a better job and turned this movie into a better seller by putting some more action into it. but either way...i thought it was good. and anyone who likes Devon Sawa and is planning on watching this because of him...go for it. i bet you'll end up liking it...if your are a true fan. i'll admit he has gained a little weight..but i love him anyway. anyway...its a good movie to watch if you don't feel like getting serious or you feel like watching some snowboarding.

Summary: OK, but too many holes
Review: There are some good films featuring extreme sports. Unfortunetly this is not one of them. The actual footage of the sports was good, but the plot was a little on the weak side and there is no follow up as to what happend to all the charaters. All in all, a good DVD rental or worth a visit to see the film at a discount screen.
