Summary: This is not what it seems.
Review: One reviewer wrote the review about the "Super Ants"....this is not that movie.
This movie staring Dean Cain bites big time, unless you like movies about chases....there are several car chases, car chasing man, man chasing man, helicopter chasing car....Get the point?
The plot is strained through out the movie in dribbles... if you can make it through the endless sceens showing actors walking around doing nothing, walking or staring blankly (probably wondering if this movie will ever be over).
*** Fast forward special***

Summary: THIS IS NOT THE ANT MOVIE NOR IS IT A REMAKE !
Review: Somebody got their wires crossed. This is a thriller/action movie and due to the only review here, I confused this movie with the 1974 movie. I bought it but thankfully turned out to be very good movie suprisingly enough so it isnt going back.

Summary: When fiction predicts reality...
Review: The BBC reports in August 2004:

"Super ant colony hits Australia
A giant colony of ants stretching 100km (62 miles) has been discovered in the Australian city of Melbourne, threatening local insect species.
The ants, which were imported from Argentina, are ranked among the world's 100 worst animal invaders.
Although they exist in their usual smaller group size in their homeland, the colonies have merged in Australia to create one massive super colony.
Experts fear that the invasion poses a threat to biodiversity in the area.
...the lack of genetic diversity in the ants found in Australia has allowed them to build a super colony.
...When they arrived in Australia, in 1939, a change in their structure occurred, changing their behaviour so that they are not aggressive towards one another. This has resulted in the colonies becoming one super colony.
...a super colony several thousand miles wide could spread across southern Australia."

If this interests you, watch this movie and read Barry Maltzberg's novel which it is based upon. The movie is low-budget, but the special effects are great and have a sense of realism. An underrated and little known cult film, it deserves a broader audience.

The story made me question how mankind would react when meeting an extraterrestrial civilization when we cannot recognize that we are not the only intelligence on this planet...
