Rating: Summary: One of the Best Disaster Flicks of All Time! Review: I have watched this movie over and over again and it thrills me just as much as the first time. The effects are fantastic and, now that I own the widescreen version, they are even more lifelike. This movie starts strong and doesn't let up for a second, with a very climactic ending. Great fun for the whole family.
Rating: Summary: Fun light hearted adventure Review: If you are looking to spend a few hours just enjoying a light weight movie this one is especially appearing. It is fun, a bit thrilling, action packed and beautiful to look at. Overall not bad for a few bucks worth of entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Very Explosive Review: One of the best movies ever! Great effects! Very exiting! Everyone who is looking here, I recomend it!!!
Rating: Summary: Pierce as Dr. Harry Dalton Review: I have this one in my video library too
Rating: Summary: Pierce as Dr. Harry Dalton Review: I think this is probably one of the best disaster films I have ever seen. Pierce is great as Dr. Harry Dalton. The character is sensitive, caring, romantic, of course handsome, and sexy. Pierce gets to step out of the shadow of Bond completely, but becomes a hero when he has to save Rachel, her children and Ruffy, the dog from Dante's Peak. I own this one on video. I saw it 10 times at the theatre, because Pierce is the star of it.
Rating: Summary: Lots of action, little story, great special effects Review: Although this movie is a great action film, I found the story line to be weak. Overall, I liked the film because of the special effects which I would give a 4 star rating. The ending is unbelievable and unrealistic but I would recommend it to anyone who likes special effects.
Rating: Summary: Superior Disaster Thriller Review: Except for Volcano, it is possible to make a great movie about a volcano. Dante's Peak is probably one of the best action/disasters around, plus Twister. Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton are very good together! The FX are brilliant. The DVD is one of the best, with interesting behind the scenes stuff.
Rating: Summary: Truly amazing! Review: The decade is almost over. I think Dante's Peak is one of two of the best natural disaster movies of the 90s. The other, of course, is Twister. The movie is packed with awesome visual effects. The DVD is packed with great features especially a one hour documentary about the making of the movie. Not only the movie is entertaining, it has its educational rewards, too. Pierce Brosnan and the other scientists portrayed true life professionals about volcanos--what the signs are for an erruption and the do's & don'ts during the erruptions just like what Pierce had said to the kids in their escape "DON'T LOOK BACK". This movie is great for the whole family to enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Stunning effects save this disaster film. Review: Truly awesome visual effects are the star here, but the story is totally mumbo-jumbo of just stuff tossed in to make up for time. Similar to the story in "Twister" but both are truly awesome to see if just for the effects. I love disaster movies and this is one of them. I think I could have created a stronger plot but what's done is done. I was amazed at the realistic effects. They scared me and made me see the true horror of caught in nature's burning fury...literally.
Rating: Summary: Fizz! Review: When I wrote the review for "St. Helens" (1981), the heading says what the volcano did-"Boom!" Now comes "Dante's Peak" which has a volcano that did nothing but "fizz." It's a price to pay to fill the movie with impossible scenarios with the same storyline from another movie. "Dante's Peak" is only worth the wait until the video price really depreciates.
