Summary: Tremendous!
Review: What do they say about the things we do on a lark?

I don't know why, but I had heard bits and pieces about this film, mostly bullocks-- it was made for nickels, the bloke who shot it sold off his nipper to get it financed, etc. So, I plunked down my $21.36 (S&H included, american exchange rate) and bought this on DVD for my own burgeoning collection.

And what can I say but bleeding FANTASTIC! This tiny little movie succeeds in the face of overwhelming adversity. Limited budget, no-name actors, and other rakish types and yet against those odds, they delivered what has to be one of the most overlooked movies of all of '99.

I was a fan of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, since it was done by the chaps over here across the pond, but I'll admit it...Blood Guts Bullets and Octane is a better time at the cine.

Do yourself a favor, spend the pence, this little marvel is a fine addition to anybodies DVD catalogue.

The short hairs...I loved it.

Summary: Some Movies are Worth Seeing More than Once
Review: While comparisons with movies directed by Tarantino are justified, I really felt that this flick stood on its own and was not excessively derivative.

The filmmakers did an excellent job of creating two realistic leading characters and giving them a plausible world to inhabit. The movie is by no means short of action, but does not use fist fights and car chases as a end in and of themselves, but rather uses them to advance the plot.

Roger Ebert roundly criticized the ending of this film, I believe using the expression, "An exercise in desperation," but I felt that the ending was both entirely appropriate for the setup leading up to it and original.

Blood Guts Bullets & Octane is an exciting movie that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys smart action movies.
