Summary: jamie foxx is the man!!!
Review: I think that sometimes people tend to over analyze movies, like some of the reviewers of this film. I LOVED this movie!!! It was funny and the action scenes are fantastic. The scenes with Jamie and Mike Epps are so funny and silly you have to like this movie. It was a very interesting movie with a not too hard to follow storyline. What more do you want for 8 dollars?
This is not a phd dissertation!!! Get this movie. If like Jamie Foxx you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Bait
Review: Jailed for stealing prawn, Alvin Sanders (Foxx) is released by Treasury Agent Clenteen (Morse) as bait to trap a dangerous criminal (Hutchison) seeking to steal gold from the U.S. Treasury. You see, while in jail, Alvin was given what the Feds think might be a secret code that can lead to the gold. All Alvin wants is to go straight with his girlfriend (Elise), but between the feds, the crooks, and a jealous brother (Epps), Sanders might've been safer in jail...

Summary: Not as bad as I was expecting....
Review: Let me first say that I love Jamie Fox. I was expecting a sorry plot line that would rely on a couple of special effects and Jamie Fox humor.

Instead I got a cross between "Enemy of the State" and "Booty Call". Don't get me wrong...it's not as funny as "Booty Call"; nor is it as sophisticated (technology-wise) as "Enemy of the State". It has a nice mix of both however. If you try not to overanalyze some of the computer stuff (which does play a big part) and just enjoy Jamie Fox as having more to offer than just comedy you'll like this movie.

Antoine Fuqua's style is very familiar and I had a lot of flashbacks to his previous work in "Replacement Killers" with Chow Yun Fat and Mira Sorvino.

I was entertained by this movie and you will be too IF you don't think too hard. Enjoy. I'd give it a B- (81/100)

Summary: In defense of "Bait"
Review: Personally, I thought this movie was very cool and very funny. Jamie Foxx is a talented comedian and Antoine Fuqua is a director with a unique vision. The music video style added to the dark layers of the film. Doug Hutchison was brilliant in his role as Bristol. I cringe everytime he is compared to John Malkovich. Doug has an incredible versatility (most people do not recognize him at all from "The Green Mile") and this character is one of many he can do. I saw this movie three times in the theater and each time I noticed something new that explained a "plot hole" if you paid attention close enough. The movie is fast-paced and fun and the actors bring a great intensity to their role (witness the scene between Alvin and Bristol in the bathroom) and I'd furthermore like to add kudos to David Morse in his role and Mark Mancina for the music score, which was not released on CD for some reason.

Summary: Just Bad, nothing else
Review: The film Bait stars Jamie Foxx as a convict that....ah, come on, who really cares. if people had cared what this film was really about, they would have seen it in the theaters. Truth is, it bombed there, and i do not think that anyone will remember it by the time it hits video and DVD. this film is essentially just a retread on hundreds, literally hundreds, of films that have come out since film was invented. This film does something that few could do this year, make me a little sad that film was invented. Bait is so painfully unfunny, uninteresting, and unintelligent that any viewer will feel ripped of when walking out of the theater or from returning the video. Jamie Foxx may be the future of comedies, seeing as his other film, Held Up, did so incredibly well. What is that? You do not remember Held Up? Oh, that could be due to the fact that it was in theaters for about a day, then was dumped to give an extra theater to Thomas and The Magic Railroad. Bait features actors that seem like they do not want to be there. And come on, who can blame them.

Summary: A real addition to your collection
Review: This is a prime example what a good movie should be!!I actually would have rated it a 4.5, but the ratings only come as whole stars. An excellent combination of action, humor and plot,Bait excels at keeping your attention and maintaining a jog along pace right up to the end.Plus,it lacks the excessive profanity usually found in a lot of toady's action flicks,so this movie gets a thumbs up as a great family movie. The only downside is its portrayal of cast in stereotypical roles,(something enemy of the state, another great movie, did not do.)All in all, this a great movie that can be watched numerous times without "getting old."

Summary: A great, and highly underrated movie
Review: This movie bombed at the box office, probably because everyone saw "starring Jamie Foxx" and figured it would be all unfunny schtick and no plot (Martin Lawrence, anyone?). But I went to see it, and loved it. Yes, there are some witty one-liners in this movie, but Foxx manages to create a surprisingly sympathetic character. Just listen to the scene when he tells his girlfriend a sad story about his childhood, and you'll realize how much acting range this guy really has. In addition, the movie manages to have some exhilarating action scenes and keep the tension level high throughout. David Morse and Doug Hutchinson both give terrific supporting performances.
The picture and sound on the DVD are excellent, but unfortunately there aren't many extras. Some interesting filmmaker/cast profiles and some funny commentary by Jamie Foxx, and that's about it. Maybe if the movie had done better at the box office, the filmmakers would have thought it worth it to put more stuff on the DVD. Regardless, it's a really good movie, and well worth picking up.

Summary: a good movie, a few plot holes
Review: This was an awesome movie, my first Jamie Foxx movie, actually. I thought David Morse and Doug Hutchison did very nice jobs with their performances. ... The plot hole in this movie is with how unbelieveably smart this bad guy was,... David Morse added the tough guy apperance to the scenes, and Jamie added the comedy. Over all, the cast was good, the movie almost never had a dull moment, and that's why I give this movie a four star rating. Three cheers to Antoine Faqua! Good job, guys!

Summary: Well Made Action Comedy.
Review: When a petty Thief (Jamie Foxx), Who accidentally learns that of a Big Gold Heist. When a Federal Agent (David Morse) is using the Petty Thief for Bait, when the Agent sends him back in the Streets, hoping to flash out a Deranged Criminal Mastermind (Doug Hutchison).

Directed by Antonie Fuqua (The Replacement Killers, Training Day) made a stylish film for Action Fans and it`s also a Comedy-Thriller. It`s The Truman Show meets Lethal Weapon. A flop at the Box Office but Fans of Jamie Foxx will love this one. DVD`s has an sharp anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1) transfer and an strong Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. Panavision. Grade:B+.
