Summary: Tense thriller? Comedy? WHIPLASH!
Review: Bait could have almost been a fiercer, more intense version of the modern techno-thriller "Enemy of The State". The potential is definitely there, you can feel there's a good movie trying to break out.So, what prevented Bait from succeeding? The main problem is that this film's mood is schizo. Bait tries, and fails, to please both action fans and comedy lovers. I suspect that the film studio "suits" (executives) probably micro-managed the editing to a pulp. Movie getting too tense? No problem, let's suddenly splice in a Jamie Foxx joke. Whoops, movie now getting too funny? No problem, let's unexpectedly blow up 10 people. The studio released a movie both unnecessarily tense and not funny enough. And the result? A whiplashed viewer with a headache. The actors are good, and pour intensity into their performances. But their roles are so derivative, you find yourself constantly going "Yeah, he reminds me too much of so-and-so". Character actor David Morse carries the movie as a tough Treasury agent; but he could be a dead ringer for Jon Voight. His nemesis, a master computer criminal, is played by Doug Hutchison who tries so hard to copy John Malkovich, you'll get tired of him very quickly. As for Jamie Foxx, his role just reminds me too much of the same old Jamie Foxx television character. He gets top billing, but actually his presence in the movie feels ... replaceable? His wisecracking shtick is artificial, mere trailer candy to help market an action film to a broader target audience. Jamie's character isn't given enough dramatic balance, and the movie suffers for it. Those of you who have seen Any Given Sunday, know that Jamie's perfectly capable of playing good dramatic roles, given a chance. I give Bait three stars in deference to the quality of the actors and the film's potential. It's not a bad movie, but it's imbalanced.

Summary: Foxx is funny but this movie is neither
Review: Foxx(Held Up, Any Given Sunday) is arrested and then put back on the street and he is to be used as Bait to lure in a theif plyaed by Doug Hutchinson(The Salton Sea, The Green Mile)...Foxx runs threw hoops and twists sprouting comical moments and all but whats the catch..the end where the baby is in jeopardy is what to stressful to watch..even for some parents..not much fun..other actors include David Morse(The Negotiator, Stephen King's Langoliers), Mike Epps(All About The Bejamins, Next Friday), David Paymer(Payback, Mr. Saturday Night), Kimberly Elise(John Q, Set It Off), Jamie Kennedy(Malibu's Most Wanted, The Scream Trilogy), Robert Pastorelli(Eraser, Michael), Tia Texada(Tv's Thrid Watch, From Dusk Till Dawn), Jeffrey Donovan(Book OF Shadows:Blair Witch 2, When Trumpets Fade), and Nestor Serrano(Showtime, City Hall)

Review: Great, another pointless action movie that adds nothing to a tired, been-done-to-death genre. This thriller/ action/ suspense/ comedy combo doesn`t score well and is just another endless picture that makes little sense and has a contrived, unbelievable plot to match. Director Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day") offers a decent cinematography and an adequate urban soundtrack, but that doesn`t mean much when the characters are little more than carboard and the plot so bland. Forgettable.

Review: I did not have high expectations for this film. The movie actually was not half bad. It's not great, but it will keep your interest. I think Jamie has the making of a potential action star if he gets a better developed script.

Summary: Don't Go For The Bait
Review: I feel sorry for who ever goes for the Bait. Very Similar tolast years box office hit Blue Streak with Martin Lawrence. Bait whichstars Jamie Foxx is about a convict who is hired to go after thiskiller. As i said that the similarities are endless. Directed ByAntoine Fuqua who showed great visual energy in The ReplacementKillers. Is very mainstream here showing no visual energy as in thelatter. With David Morse who is way over the top here is lame. I stillthink that martin lawrence shows more comic energy. jamie foxx whoshowed great range in Any Given Sunday. But is very boring here. Witha very lame script and over the top action sequences there is nothinggood about it.

Review: I made a mistike and bought this movie, thinking with jammie foxx it would be so funny i would watch it many time's, which i haven't, this is not to say it is a bad movie, it has some good action and some pretty funny scene's, but i wish i would have rented it. p.s jammie foxx's commentery is pretty dry he doesn't say much for long period's of time, then when he does it is something you already know

Summary: I almost walked out
Review: i saw this terrible movie when it came out in theaters about a year ago. It was so bad, i almost walked out. It is a shabby attempt at an action flick, starring COMEDIAN Jamie Foxx. I don't understand why hollywood producers see fit to pull perfectly good comics like Jamie Foxx into serious action roles. The story is stupid, and very generic (i.e. everyday goof off gets pulled into extraordinary/overproduced action sequences, while washed up detective hatches a zany scheme to try and use him to catch a supervillain, while constantly threatening to throw him out of the operation even though he can't function without him)...Does that about sum it up? The villain of the movie is PATHETIC. And to top it off, he repeatedly engages in strange, unexplained activities--(Jamie enters his apartment only to meet the villain; small child in one arm, pepper spray in the other and is disabled by the spray--c'mon!! They couldn't think of a better kidnapping scene than that?? Anyway, the point is, DO NOT buy this. If you do, you are supporting the ever growing wave of recycled entertainment that is spit out of hollywood.
