Summary: The first Weapon is always the Best!
Review: The first of the 4 Lethal Weapon films is still the best, with Mel Gibson as the suicidal cop Martin Riggs paired up with Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) as his reluctant partner. The action is great, and while it does tend to get carried away sometimes (not helped By Richard Donner's frenetic pacing), it's still the most fun of the franchise, and one of the best action films of the 80's.

Mel is great in one of his first major film roles, and Glover works well with Gibson. Director Donner, who gave us Superman (1978), directed all the Weapon films, but this one is the undisputed finest. Action at it's most excellent.

Summary: One of the greatest action movies i've seen.
Review: Retiring Policeman " Murdoc" ( Danny Glover) gets a new Partner named " Riggs" ( Mel Gibson) who's lover was murdered and must avenge her death. They both go after a Drug Kingpin ( Gary Busey) who is making a very unorganized Business of his own.
A fantastic and well-made Action classic is a must own for those who love action.

Also recommended: The Sequels, Die Hard and The Matrix.

Summary: Drama and Action Thriller!!
Review: Popping this movie in, pulling up a chair, and watching is like a ticket to one of the world's best roller-coaster rides. We all knew it would be full of action right?! Well it sure was, but did you guess it would be full of a lot of emotional elements too?! Not just members of the humans race with assault riffles but people with emotions that are very real. It's a real drama and action thriller easily deserving five stars!

Summary: THE Best of the Franchise
Review: Mel Gibson's performance as the suicidal Detective Seargeant Martin Riggs is riveting. He makes you believe he really does have a death wish. The chemistry that developes between Riggs and Murtaugh is perfect for this genre. It's entertaining, it's exciting, it's funny, and it takes place at Christmastime, so it's also a great holiday flick. This is the best of the Lethal Weapon movies, and I highly recommend it! I never tire of it!

Summary: A classic
Review: You gotta love the Lethal Weapon movies. How many movies have you seen where someone can get stabbed, shot and have his arm broken, all in the same movie, and be back for the sequel? Mel Gibson is very convincing as Riggs, a cop whose wife passed away in a car accident, who has a death wish and will take any risk that comes his way. The most powerful scene of the movie to me was him sitting alone in his trailer with his "special bullet" watching the Looney Tunes Christmas special. He really takes the part and makes it his own. I don't think any actor could do what he has done for this character. Danny Glover is amusing as Murtaugh, Rigg's new partner who is on the verge of retirement. They make a great pair and their on-screen relationship is very evident, and their chemistry is what makes this movie work. Gary Busey is also great as Mr. Joshua, a stone cold killing machine. The story is a bit complicated and there are too many loose ends and excuses for action sequences. But overall, Lethal Weapon is a movie you can't help but love.

Summary: Beware guns that shoot too fast
Review: This film is an archetypical hence cult film. Two cops, an old black man, close to retirement, and a younger white man, trained in the special forces of Vietnam. They are teamed together by a purely administrative decision and they become a real team in the painful delivery of a case. This model will be used in many films afterwards, such as the other cult film Seven. The case is the destruction of a drug ring that is organized by ex-special force agents. They only know killing as a tool for and to power. They want to control the police, at least for a little while, just long enough to get their shipment in. As an action film it is extremely well done. The story is simple, as simple as simple can be. Yet the film is great because of the extremely tense sentimental fabric that underlines the whole action. The white cop has an unachievable suicidal tendency due to the loss of his womanfriend, or wife. Do we really know the details ? And the black cop is involved in that sentimental fabric because his own daughter is kidnapped by the traffickers in order to force the father into speaking and revealing the plans of the police about the coming shipment. Of course the traffickers fail and they are all killed, weapons in hands, ready to shoot and kill first, if they had had the opportunity. The film closes on Christmas night with another sentimental meeting of the two cops, the white one dropping forever his suicidal tendency, and the other dropping forever his suspicion about the craziness of the his partner. After all this crazy white killing machine has saved the black cop's daughter's life and the black cop's life at least a dozen time in just a couple of days. The deeper meaning of the film is that Vietnam has produced strange beings : special force agents. After the war, they cannot drop their training and they have to adjust to social life back home. Some become cops, some become gangsters. Deeply in their minds, the difference is just that some had kept human feelings somewhere and the others had lost all their humanity and had become plain killing beasts. In other words, this film is about the damage the Vietnam war has caused in American society, but showing the two sides of that damage : the positive as well as the negative sides, and that is a change from the films that only show one side of the story....

Summary: Entertaining If A Bit Violent
Review: Mel Gibson and Danny Murtaugh feed well off this original of the Lethal Weapon series. Their contrasting styles really lead to many funny lines and crazy scenes. The violence can be a bit much at times and the final fight scene is a bit far fetched. The movie is not meant to be taken to seriously. It is interesting how this dynamic duo escape their predicament and catch the bad guys in the end. Gary Busey is very believable as the lead drug dealer. Its a winner in my book.
