Summary: Fun buddy-cop movie is big on suspense...
Review: Gunfights abound in this action classic from director Richard Donner. The plot is similar now, being about two very different cops who become partners and, by the end of the film, best friends. Mel Gibson is Riggs, a suicidal gung-ho type with a quick wit and a quicker gun. Danny Glover is Murtaugh, an aging cop who couldn't be more different from Riggs. The two team up to take on a few drug dealers, and on the way kill a few more bad guys. What makes this film work so well and rise above the typical action movie is the attention paid to its characters. Both Murtaugh and Riggs are very well developed as we see little vignettes of their lives. It's also interesting how the two become friends as they help each other out. Gibson and Glover both do excellent performances, but it's Gibson who shines the most as the crazy cop. This is a must-see for all genre fans.

Summary: MOVE OVER ''48 HRS.'' NOW WE GOT ''LETHAL WEAPON''!
Review: THIS IS ACTION AT ITS FINEST. AN LA COP [DANNY GLOVER] IS ASSIGNED TO A NEW PARTNER THAT HAPPENS TO BE PSYCHOTIC AND SUICIDAL. THIS IS ONE THAT STARTED OFF THE LETHAL WEAPON FRANCHISE. GREAT ACTION, GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR, AND A GREAT DUO. IT'S HARD NOT TO LIKE THIS MOVIE. THIS SHOULD BE IN EVERY MOVIE BUFF'S DVD COLLECTION. THIS MOVIE IS UNRESISTABLE. 7 MINUTES OF NEW FOOTAGE WAS ADDED FOR A DIRECTOR'S CUT VERSION OF THIS MOVIE WHICH WAS RELEASED BACK IN 1998. FOLLOWED BY THREE SEQUELS.

Summary: The begining of an era
Review: According to some the best of the "Lethal Weapon" film series. For the first time we meet two cops Riggs(Gibson) Mertauge(Glover). One a violent edgy guy who has just lost his wife and wants to end it all. The other is getting on in years and just wants to get out the game before the odds catch up to him.

The two will have to learn to like each other and meet the challenges that lie ahead. They are in for a long ride.

My impression-This one of the first cop movies(excluding Dirty Harry of course) that broke the mold as it were. one of the first cop movies that was good both on the action front and the humor front.

Summary: And I Used to Think That I Wasn't the Action Adventure Kind
Review: Mel Gibson (Riggs) is a cop whose wife's recent death has left him a few floors short of the roof and he is desperatly trying to find a way to end himself short of having to pull the trigger himself. For obvious reasons this may lead a few to believe that this is nothing but a drama, but that is not the case. This is a movie packed with action, some suspense and the chemistry between Riggs and his new partner Mertaugh (played by Danna Glover) is obvious. This combination leads to a great many laughs, and some edge of your seat moments as well. This is a movie that is very well done, and there won't be many people out there who will leave this one feeling unsatisfied.

Summary: LETHAL WEAPON IS MEL GIBSON'S BEST MOVIE!!!
Review: LETHAL WEAPON IS MEL GIBSON'S BEST MOVIE!!! And it might be Danny Glover's best movie, too! Gibson is sensational as crazy cop Martin Riggs, and Danny Glover is terrific as his straight man veteran cop Roger Murtaugh, as Director Richard Donner shakes off his SUPERMAN reputation and does something totally different with this movie, a nonstop blend of action, comedy, tragedy, and THE THREE STOOGES, ABBOTT AND COSTELLO, and 48 HOURS all rolled into one!

The heroes are great, the villains are great, and Director Donner nearly steals the MVP award for this movie with his amazing ability to get the absolute most out of everybody who works on this movie from start to finish! But the most important thing Donner does with LETHAL WEAPON is to change Mel Gibson from THE ROAD WARRIOR into a believable hero, someone who laughs, cries, and saves the day, and who does it while making us laugh, cry and save the day right along with him!

LETHAL WEAPON IS MEL GIBSON'S BEST MOVIE!!!

Summary: cousinpaco's top action: #5
Review: Retiring cop gets new partner. They don't get along, until they shoot a bunch of bad guys together. The formula has become cliché.

Who cares?!?

"Lethal Weapon" is such a great movie, that it defines the concept of a buddy-cop picture. Both lead actors give top-of-their game performances. Gibson is a standout, playing burned-out narc Martin Riggs, who's wallowing in grief for his dead wife.

(Ever notice that Mel Gibson always plays a widower? Wonder how Robin Gibson feels about this...)

Danny Glover plays the down-to-Earth Roger Murtaugh, who steps up to the plate when his family is threatened.

Heck, even Gary Busey deserves a nod for his portrayal of shadowy Mr. Joshua. Riggs and Mr. Joshua face off in a massive martial-arts brawl that apparently took four days to film.

One of my favorite supporting actors appears in "Lethal Weapon" - Al Leong, playing the guy who tortures Riggs with an electric shock apparatus. Riggs' payback is pretty bone-crushing, so don't expect to see Leong in the sequel!

This DVD version contains some footage not seen in previous releases. None of it adds much, thematically--but it's kind of fun to see Riggs stand off against a crazed sniper.

Summary: Unrealistic!
Review: One of the worst films of Mel Gibson's career, but the folks who viewed it laughed it up over Gibson and Glover's antics. What was with the crude language and the nudity and the violence? It could have been much better, and I can't believe all cops act in this way. This is way out there on the reality scale. This stuff doesn't happen this way, only in Hollywood.

Summary: Mel and Danny are my heroes!!!!!
Review: One of Mel's best, I think the chemistry between Riggs and Rodger are great.
They are both really good actors and were really good in these 4 movies.

I LOOOVE IT!!

Summary: Loved this movie
Review: definitely love all of the Lethal Weapon movies. I do recommend getting the director's cut on all of the movies you can (as far as I have seen, LW4 does not currently have a directors cut...pity).

although a few extra minutes of footage may seem trivial, they cover a few gaps in the timeline, and offer explanations for some of the logical leaps that occur in the movie.

Summary: A Classic!
Review: Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) is a man who is on the edge, the very edge. He recently lost his wife to a car accident and the only thing that is stopping him from going over the edge is his love of the job, the only thing he has left. Mel Gibson turns in a fantastic performance in the role. Sgt. Murtaugh (Danny Glover) is a stable cop who has been on the force for many years and today is his birthday. For a birthday present he is assigned with Riggs, in order to watch him. Also during his birthday he finds out that an old friends daughter was thrown out a window, and his daughter smokes pot in the house. During the course of the movie the banter between Riggs and Murtaugh is enjoyable. The action is outstanding and the bad guys, especially "Mr. Joshua" (Gary Busey) are truly fanatical. Also during the course of the movie Riggs feels accepted into Murtaugh's family and this helps him move back from the edge a bit. But when Murtaugh's daughter is kidnapped he must move forward again and with Murtaugh create havoc!

A first class action movie with interesting characters and a decent plot. This movie will be enjoyed by anyone who likes action movies or action commedies for that matter.
