Rating: Summary: Big Fun! Review: If you're curious to see the funniest vomiting scene ever, check this hilarious movie out.
Rating: Summary: An cool action flick with an all-star cast. Review: Yeah, yeah, I know, most reviewers didn't like this, but I loved it. It was hilarious, adventurous, daring, action packed and thrilling. Totally awesome to watch any time, any day of the week. Meet Melvin Smiley (Mar Wahlberg) the world's friendlist hitman who has been assigned to catch a young girl (China Chow) and kill her. But instead of killing her, he falls in love with her and his boss (Lou Diamond Philips) isn't too happy about that! Sit back, relax and enjoy The Big Hit. You'll love it if you're not thick.
Rating: Summary: Very amusing and very action-packed! Review: This movie was a real blast, both with the action and more so with the sometimes childish but often funny spoof element! Mark Wahlberg plays Mervin Smiley, a sexually insecure potential hitman who works for godfather Avery Brooks(Sisco from Deep Space Nine to you Trekkies!), along with assorted colleagues. When Smiley finds he is several thousand in debt due to women messing him around for his money and failed hits, he decides to kidnap a Japanese girl, the daughter of an industrialist on the verge of hara-kiri after his movie flops! It just so happens that this girl is the god-daughter of his boss. As if that wasn't enough, his copy of the video KING KONG LIVES is overdue! Oh dear . . . The results are fast, frenetic and hilarious. Elliot Gould appears as the on-the-wagon father of another potential fiancee(Christina Applegate, who is a real hottie). And when his bosses learn of his unauthorised kidnapping, the fun bursts into stylised action with gunfights and explosions galore! John Woo produced this, and it shows well! This has something for Hong Kong action fans, something for teenage airhead humour freaks and a little bit of girl power for chick-flick lovers. Everyone will enjoy this, in other words!
Rating: Summary: Slightly Overdone on the Language ... Otherwise, Not Bad Review: My title sums up my opinion of this film - call it my train of thought, but Jackie Chan, Jet Li and others can put together an excellent action film with little or none of the obscenities. That aside, it was a whole lot of fun - action, comedy, romance - what most are looking for in an entertaining movie.
Rating: Summary: Pretty bad Review: Leave your brain and your logic at the door. This is a wasted movie. I know you HK fans are going to watch this anyway, but you should seriously consider skipping this one. First of all, there's not much action. Only a few scenes. And the action you do get is not the best. Some of the stunts are cool, but there's just not enough. Kirk Wong's Crime Story was mediocre, and this film is no different. Some of the flashy, quick-cut, MTV-style directing isn't bad, but it can't save this sinking ship. There's also a ton of political correctness in this movie. It's so '90s it's absurd. The violence isn't over-the-top, and is toned down as it goes. There is a decent amount of profanity, and no nudity, although they definitely get close. The plot is about as thin as you can get, and they don't make up for it with the comedy, because I didn't find it funny at all. The sad thing is John Woo actually executive produced this mindless trash. What was he thinking?
Rating: Summary: Sign of the Times Review: I'd give this garbage a negative zero. It was absolutely the worst film I've ever seen--and I only watched half of it. The mindless mayhem may only be funny to those who are sociopaths. My only hope is that those people who wrote all the rave reviews are really only pubescent males who will grow up into mature, responsible, empathethic adults one day. Until then, I'll cry for my society.
Rating: Summary: best american film by hong kong director Review: Often when a hong kong director comes to the States to make hisAmerican goal, he fails. For example look at Tsui Harks Double team, witch is nothing more then a stupido action flick, knock of,or Ringo Lams maximum Risk, a wacky mix between ronin and red heat. I had seen Che-Kirk Wongs 'Crime Story' before. And when I heard of this man comming to the west I was affraid that he would make another semi-action flick starring our belgium mussled friend Jean-Claude. But no,I was wrong. The big hit was a super komedy-action. With a totaly diffrent cast that youwould expect in these cind op movies. Lou diamond Philips does a great job and da same for Markie-mark..! This film rules END
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Action Comedy. Review: Mark Wahlberg is very good in this film, after he did Boogie Nights. His moves in the film is very impressive and great action scenes. Lou Diamond Phillips in a different performance as a hitman, who betray Melvin(Wahlberg), Lou is very good in actions scenes different from his Young Guns films. It was an modest hit at the box office and a miss with critics. Am surprise film critic Leonard Maltin like the film and give Three Stars out of Four Stars. Exective Produced By director-John Woo(The Killer, Face Off) and Co-Produced by actor-Wesley Snipes(Demolition Man, Blade). Don`t miss it. Grade:B+.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious Entertainment Review: This movie was wonderfully comical! I recommend it to anyone who wants a great action film, extreme drama, sweet and unexpected romance, and of course COMEDY!
Rating: Summary: Good. Review: I have been wanting to see this film for ages - and when I rented it a week ago, I didn't feel like watching it but when I did I was glad that I did or else I would of missed out on major fun! China Chow is introduced to the world as a kidnapped girl who's in one hell of a mess with a few hitmen. This is funny, action packed, with some violence and not too much romance. Don't miss this movie if your great!
