Summary: horrible horrible movie!!!
Review: oh, this was quite possibly the hardest movie for me to watch ever!!! leonard maltin may have finally been right in rating this movie a "bomb". the acting is incredibly horrible! stephen dorf changes personalities many times throughout. some of the characters are just annoying to watch. our "hero" says some sort of cuss word every other word to show how much of a jerk he really is. no one would act so callous as he does in the hostage situation. everyone would shut the hell up! i guess we are supposed to feel sorry for stephen dorf's character, his emotional problems and his love life, but he is just a jerk! i mean come on! i also doubt that any t.v. station would replay the horrifying events, and no one would make a t.v. movie about something everyone witnessed on T.V.!!! i know this is supposed to be funny and satire, but COME ON!the only thing i liked about this movie was the flashback scenes. they were usually intense, and high voltage. this was very powerful. the cinematography was very good as well. the story is great, (with many cliches throughout) several customers are held hostage for 36 days in a convenience store while everyone is forced to watch on t.v. as one of their demands. after the ordeal is over, stephen dorf is considered a hero, but is really not fit for the role. but, it comes off really badly, and i didn't care about any messages this film was trying to sell. if this film is a satire, i think the point is lost early on. what is the deal with the guys smashing the room up for no reason, then stephen dorf is completely sober in the next scene? why does jake busey pull a gun out so fast? what is the deal with the mayor? he woulda killed dorf for making a fool out of him. this is really a bad movie, and i don't see how it got so many good reviews on here. basically i hated this movie, and could barely watch the whole thing! (the gwar video was kinda cool though)

Summary: A good movie
Review: Overall a good movie, with a very good message. Although an obvious overuse of the "F" word, which tends to make one sick after the first 40 minutes. The movie seems a lot longer than it actually is. Pretty slow-paced in-between the flashback scenes, but how else could it be done? The story is well done and in-depth. The movie mocks the media and how it affects the public- a great message in my opinion. Acting is decent. Best if watched alone.

Summary: Extreme situations bring out strange things in us....
Review: SFW is an excellent movie with a great overall message to it. The message of the movie could be taken too far by some viewers, but one must realize that the situation the stars of the film were in has placed everything under a microscope. That is something that can make the movie undisirable for most. Excellent camera work, a lot of young talent, very odd story, and a great soundtrack. Looking for something completly different? Want to think for yourself instead of being shown the easy way out of a movie? Watch it.

Summary: A Film Way Ahead Of It's Time
Review: Take a look at this film and you will be amazed at how it predicted the future -- from OJ to JFK jr. Also, how many films have there been since SFW that have dealt with the same themes, but not nearly as well? NBK; Mad City; Truman Show; Ed TV -- SFW is, quite simply, a work of genius -- even more amazing: the book was written by a 17 year old college kid in 1987! The film, while it parodies teen romance films, also deals with the way popular culture (not just the media) take a person or event, uses it to sell, sell, sell, then discards it, usually destroying it/him. The big cycle of pop culture. Check it out for yourself.

Review: This film is fantastic, i am disappointed that i am no longer able to purchase it. Although this film is impossible to sum up in words, and if i tried i might spoil your viewing pleasure. This film is fantastic, you will not get sick of watching it over and over again. I think that people aged 16 to 24 will find it most enjoyable, however parents with teenage children will probably find it useful. Since i cant recommend that you buy it, as it is unavailable i recommend that you hire it out at your local video score 5 Big, Full, Golden stars.

Review: This film was unreal. It really captured the whole essence of media well. The person below me fails to realise that this film has many characures. Most of them aren't supposed to make sense. And if you look at how he acted in the hostage situation you are missing the point. He isn't supposed to be a hero. That is the point, they don't care about the conseqences. He just got out of a hostage room and he wanted to go crazy. My friends have often talked about smashing TV's (ala 'Fight for your right to party' filmclip) and how cool it would be. Oh yeah, killed him in front of hundreds of people. What do you mean by that exactly? He wouldnt have wanted to draw any extra attention to himself. Don't take the story or the charcters too seriously. The message is what this film is about, once you understand that you can then see why the story and acting is what it is, to make this come accross. The story is about the Media, America's obsession with celebrities and most importantly, the way that Cliff Spab doesn't have a love of his life, so he is free to enjoy it, and live it. Every scene and everything has a purpose. And as far as Dorff swearing too much that is ridiculous. First of all they dont swear as much as in Clerks. Second in private its not that bad, in public in front of the people he swears just as much, which is maybe what you are talking about. But that is the point, he doesn't care. And he swears a lot in the flashback scenes. I would be too if I had a camera and a gun pointed at me for 36 days.

Review: This is one of those live-changing movies that you can't explain in a paragraph or 12; but that you have to see to understand. This movie is brilliant in so many wayz it's almost scary it changed my live. It is my favourite movie of all time (and trust me I have seen a lot of videos) Last words to describe it: S.F.W. RULEZ
